A SURE WAY to keep the film on!!!.

***I will elaborate on anything if there are questions***

Went to Home Depot and got the film and squeegy kit early this week.

Today, I spent 5hrs trying to apply the film in a sure way that doesnt come off. After using almost the entire roll I got something solid.

What I did was thought about how I wrap presents. I cut a large enough piece of film so that when I fold the film around the edges of the tail light, that the end of the film almost touches from all four ways.

(Here is where tape actually becomes your last step. Tape use should be minimal for each light. No more than a few strips. *Gorilla tape ftw*)

With the piece of film cut I took 'the solution' and sprayed it on the light and did the typical squeegying and edging. Making sure to lube the film as a smooth it.

Now all of the extra film that is on the back side of the light, pull and stretch it very very taut, then punch in down over the bolts that mount the tail light to the frame. Also use the grey prongs that hold the sponge gasket.

To make sure there are no folds or bumps along the visible edge of the lights, you overlap the film as if you do around the edges of presents when you wrap them. (Make sure you trim the excess or it will be a impossible to get the tail light mounted again with all the excess around the bolts.

You will have to re-punch some areas of the film as you keep smoothing out the surface of the light and stretching the film. YOU MUST USE SOME MUSCLE TO GET IT AS TIGHT AS POSSIBLE.

Use tape to secure some edges of the film behind the light. I honestly didnt have to use any tape. I did for extra strength

Tinted taillights and headlights look great, but with tinted rears there's a decent chance of getting pulled over, and with tinted headlights you are absolutely guaranteed to get a ticket. Every single person I've known that tinted their headlights in the last 4 years was pulled over and sited within a couple months. Tails lights are hit and miss on actually getting sited for. Most people get a warning to have it removed. (like me)

me and my friend tinted my tails, hardest part is getting as close as possible to the edges...we used the same type of film (Home Depot) but we got the "black" rather than the "smoke". I figured it would help set off the OBP, and it still lights up perfectly with the lights, blinkers, reverse lights, etc...we didn't buy the application kit, just used a spray bottle, and credit card...Also, i got my vanity plate :)

Can you take a shot with the brake light and turn signal on? I'd be interested to see how they look illuminated...

ruroni_x... how did you get your edges to stick without it coming off. i tried it today with the same film and it didnt stick at all. also i didnt buy the solution is that necessary?

The key is to trim the tint slightly before the edge where the lens is still flat. If the tint reaches the part of the lens edge that is curved it will peel.
