CTATV
Hey thought it would be a cool idea to start a compilation of cheap and/or free mods that can be done to our cars for those looking to tinker but lacking the budget for buying stuff to put on their car. Right now starting with a list. People can post ones i haven't thought of or listed and any pictures and/or links to threads related to said mods would be great. Will eventually compile pics and links for all mods I can would be a great little resource for us with minimal expendable income or just a fan of DIY mods... 05GT Guru
Just gut you cats and do a open source tune, the gain to cost ratio is huge, 100 dollars in parts for a be performance gain.

ehsnils
Wouldn't it be even better to replace the cat with a straight pipe? The expansion/contraction that the cat chamber does will cause some unnecessary turbulence that decreases power. Other cheap fixes are to check out so that all manifolds and joints are aligned and that no gaskets intrude into the airflow. Same for exhaust pipe - check that all joints are aligned. A K&N airfilter is also a relatively cheap modification. And try to figure out details that actually have an impact on drag. E.g. that the hood is adjusted right to avoid unnecessary turbulence over the fenders. Strip out any unnecessary weight is another. - Who needs carpets? It's all about power to weight ratio when it comes to acceleration. And of course - there are wonderful details to be found at the Home Depot - even if they aren't intended to be for a car. Replacing bulbs with LED:s is another fix that can go in relatively cheap. But you may want to go for an electronics store instead of the car parts. High intensity LED:s are actually relatively cheap if you buy them at the right place. And you can place them anywhere without having to worry about heat. Awesome list! thanks, if anybody comes across a real good walk through for gutting DP/UP let me know I would like to add that... I have read plenty of punch it out with a screwdriver and clean up with metal brush but if somebody had better walkthrough with pics possibly it would be a great addition as that is a big money saver for going Stage II
D_J
For wagon owners: anybody remove the rear seatbelt assembly that is mounted in the headliner? I use the wagon cargo area so much that the seat belt gets in the way too much, not sure if I need to remove the whole headliner or if there is an easier way
