john_knoxville
^^^^^^^^^ this has to be the lamest, most useless thread i have ever sifted through JDM 3.0R 0-60/6.5 sec with 6mt (i scoff at those who claim USDM 0-60 with 5eat is just as fast as the JDM 6mt): http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/sedans/0501_subaru_legacy_spec_b/index.html UK 3.0R 0-60/6.6 sec with 6mt: http://www.scoobyblog.com/2006-10-05/subaru-legacy-30r-spec-b-road-test and http://www.theweekenddrive.com/roadtests.html?mode=article&id=1325 UK 3.0R 0-62/8.0 sec with 5eat (probably closer to USDM model): http://www.scoobyblog.com/2006-10-05/subaru-legacy-30r-spec-b-road-test
Beanboy
Ruh Roh. Mag racing time! This thread is going in reverse order. Personal experience then mag racing. Usually it is the opposite. mindovermattre
Can someone tell me if the 3.0R is wider than the 2.5gt? I remember reading somewhere that the two were different dimensions. I am talking about the sedans.
Tomcat
Here some fact how OB 3.0R AT MY04 goes in quarter mile. ( AT manual shifting ) ( mods K&N panel filter + catback exhaust/sti dualtip mufflers. ) ET 15.408 SP 91.05mph RT 0.793s 60ft 2.386s 330ft 6.578s 660ft 9.967s 990ft 12.834s I think that those big tires ( 225/50-18" ) are not ideal for Dragracing Example if Legacy got same gear ratio the best times for Legacy 3.0R AT can be just under 15s ( 215/45-17" ) http://kuvia.1g.fi/kuvat/Tapahtumat%202008/BurnoutParty2008/23-%28208%29.jpg/_smaller.jpg http://kuvia.1g.fi/kuvat/Tapahtumat%202008/BurnoutParty2008/DSC_5496.jpg
Brian3
I've never actually tested it, but my boy has a '07 GT and I have a '09 3.0R, we've raced and it was even at 60, so I would say about 6 flat... I've driven his 2.5gt and it definitely feels faster, but they're about even. I'm sure it's because of the peak torque in the GT3 vs the even, steady torque of the 3.0R. Brian3
And I agree, the 3.0R definitely sounds better too... "no replacement for displacement"
59ctd
The GT is quicker. I have an 09 2.5GT sedan (stock) with 5EAT. My Mom has an 06 OB sedan with the 3.0 and 5EAT. They are pretty close but I'd say the GT is a bit quicker.

They are pretty close but I'd say the GT is a bit quicker. The OB has a larger diameter tire should it should accelerate a little slower. I have an 09 Legacy 3.0R Limited and it has just about kept up with stock GTs. I have kept up with 2.0L wrxs.
funnyman06
Below is my dyno from a 2005 outback 3.0R 5EAT before and after tuning. A typical stock 5MT LGT would put down around 190HP on this Dyno. My stock Focus ST put down 217HP / 257FT-Lbs.
nevets27
Is that 20hp gain just from tuning? Or do you have some mods? Sent from my LG-H933 using Tapatalk
Kronstrife
I driven both a 2006 GT 5EAT and my own 2008 3.0R 5EAT. I like the predictability of the linear flat tq curve vs the sudden rush of the tq in the turbo. In terms of speed, I feel the GT 5EAT is a little quicker but I like the stock suspension of the R in terms of handling. Stock for Stock. I dont have numbers in terms of acceleration. So this is based upon mere opinion In terms of all around performance and preference, I prefer the 3.0R stock for Stock. I also have met with some local Subaru owners and they were like, "What the heck is 3.0R" I can say having a much more uncommon Subaru gets you some props when you say, "I have 6 Cylinders" Especially when they look at my color and see its "Harvest Gold" LOL

It looks like the factory tune runs alot of timing, and not a lot of fuel so its always lean and the cars pull timing constantly. My tuner added more fuel and pulled some timing out and the car started making more power, as you can see. I'm sure he played with some other things in the process, but that's what he explained to me. Its still a little slow compared to my old LGT, this is the same dyno.
