boostsr20
I did the race version not too long ago. Definately more NVH (al three). Shifts feel a little firmer but more or less I like since it helped reduce my loud rear diff noises in the cold. Mine was also labeled 4eat but fit no problems. Use the supplied grease and a vice to squeeze it in to place, fits very snug.

Jerboa113
I'm sure you get tons of pms and emails, but I still cant understand how a bushing can be that big of a deal. Is there an install walkthrough somewhere? I dont have much for tools anymore. Diggs753
INstalled the street or comfort bushing. No difference at all in in shift performance.Increased my NVH through the roof!!!!!!This thing turned a smooth engine into a barnstormer.I took it out today, tightened up the Perrin RSB and it smooth sailing now.Not sure if I'll put it back in,not sure if I wanna try and get my cash back.Easy as hell to put in,though why wouldn't it be?It's just a trans bushing insert. J-Cobb
Wicked Cool! I drive my 5EAT in sport mode all the time and I've wondered about this upgrade. So, if I was an aggressive driver who FEARS NO EVO and I drive in sport mode constantly - when you describe the race compound and shift feel as "SHARP" I'd like some more clarification on what that means...Please. Sharp as in the feeling of the gear engagement - or sharp as in quicker response - OR? Thanks Friends

Sharp as in the feeling of the gear engagement - or sharp as in quicker response - OR? Thanks Friends It is a mount insert to stiffen movement of the engine/trans assy. Stock mounts are like floating on marshmallows.... Most folks notice a significant difference, others do not. If depends on your sensitivity. The 'race' version is quite hard. I a thinking about reducing derometer on both mounts a bit. the 'race' insert nearly 'locks' the back of the trans in place. NVH (Noise Vibration and Harshness) is definitely affected! I hope that helps a bit. Sean S. http://www.RalliTEK.com http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w151/RalliTEK/nasioc-banner1.gif
Diggs753
FWIW I did notice the bushiing would feel a little less harsh and less resonance when I did drive it for 15 or more miles.Maybe the compound got really stiff due to the 4 days of below freezing temps we got here last week and softened as it warmed. My only design "issue" is that it seemed to raise the overal height and angle of the trans on the cross-member.With the orginal, the center mount-stud seems to hang about a 1/2 inch lower than it does with the insert installed. ???I might be able to trim it,possibly? You could easily trim it. I will look into an even softer derometer material for the insert, or an insert for the lower bolt to locate the mount... Thank you for the input! FocuS
Got my bushing installed last Friday. I definately notice the difference in "crispness" of shift but I'm not sure it's worth the trade in NVH. I think the wife wants me to take it out but after I explained to her about Stage 2 and trying to preserve the tranny, she backed off... My .02..... Oh yeah, Sean and the guys at Rallitek really are a 100% customer happiness shop. Thanks for your attention and time.

Oh yeah, Sean and the guys at Rallitek really are a 100% customer happiness shop. Thanks for your attention and time. That initial over the NVH seems to either diminish with time, or I've simply gotten use to it . I think, however, that it does mellow with time. When I first put mine in it took a lot of self searching over why I did it to keep me reminded the tradeoffs were justified. But it's been a few months now and I really don't notice it anymore. That's good, because it is staying. My wife never complained because the NVH is predominantly there whenever overly enthusiastic driving takes place , and she is too preoccupied with smacking me in the arm when I do that she never notices a little NVH over the roar of the exhaust:lol:. FocuS
Your wife and mine sound VERY similar in the "don't drive so fast " dept. Mine is a bit of a hypocrite since I've rarely driven above 100mph but she routinely hits that mark and beyond.... Now all i have to do is convince her that I really need that new turbo/Intercooler/meth. injection system... I don't thats gonna happen though! KC05Leg
I installed my "comfort" bushing yesterday. I could instantly feel the difference in shifting. There is definitely some NVH, however, its well below freezing here, and its only been installed for a day. There is not enough NVH to make it not worth the difference, that is for sure. As soon as it was pushed into place on the vice, I could SEE the difference. It separated the two plates that had been squished close together from the wear of the tranny. (I didnt think it was going to fit, but it did!) I am sure after a few more days, it will begin to settle in and I will just enjoy it even more.
