Official 1/4 Mile Time List Discussion Thread

I would think that its sucky. I went near 107 on the stock turbo, stock pump and injectors, and he is a full 6+mph slower. The launch wont affect his trap speed so much.

But I was at 500ft of elev.

Elevation really effects power and trap speed, at that altitude 107-108 mph STi's usually trap around 99-100mph.

So here's somethign interesting. Last night I was driving around with my tuner and we noticed I'm only making 10psi... again

I've got some kind of boost control problem. I think there's dirt or soemthing stuck in a vaccum line or the stock BCS is failing.

I didn't log at the track, but it's possible I made those runs on 10psi instead of 18psi.

I guess I'll never know till the next track time.

cause she still pulls like a banshee at 10psi

at 18 psi i'm out of my compressor efficency range, especially at the higher rpms. so at 10psi, i don't get the initial monster torque, but the top end HP is only 15-25 whp less since it's a much much cooler charge temp

I didn't feel like it was pulling as hard as she normally does....but i was focusing on other things at the time

argh!!!! So, not the LGT anymore, however the new car:

08 STI

Stock with AMR CAI

Cobb AP V2

I added a new map tonight from AMR and also tried one from PDX. I had better results from the AMR map, so thank you Rob for helping me out last minute and through the technical difficulties.

55 deg, AK Raceway Park, 70 ft sea level

+.5269 RT

1.7940 60'

5.3542 330'

7.7641 ET @ 594'

8.3061 1/8 ET

83.02 1/8 MPH

13.0370 1/4 ET

104.19 1/4 MPH

To compare with my best run ever in the LGT:

Ran on 8/15/07 55 deg (about the same temps and conditions)

+.5188 RT

1.83550 60'

5.3112 330'

7.7051 ET @ 594'

8.2362 1/8 ET

84.72 1/8 MPH

12.8650 1/4 ET

105.43 1/4 MPH

So you can see where my 4th gear shift is really hurting my #'s. :( However, the trap speed definitely shows the car can run 12's, now I just need to drive her there!

Great numbers, I am suprised just stage 1 will take almost a half secoond off your 1/4 mile time. Car and driver tested the 08 STI and best they could do was a 13.5.

C&D also uses a correction factor, which means they have some multiplier in there to make it like the car was run in perfect conditions at 0' sea level, etc..

Really? I never knew, that is crappy, just give us the straight numbers you obtained from the tests. The magazines really need to show us time slips.

Most of their test are not performed on actual "drag" strips.

well, we're not at 0 ft sea level, but 70 ft is pretty damn close! and overcast, good temps (could have been 40's for optimal turbo happiness). Frustrating me because I know it's ME that's preventing the 12's and NOT the car at this point. I'm half tempted to swap tires or something, get something a little less weight than 18" wheels. Eh.. we'll see see. drag radials would be sweet. ;) Actually one point of the night, I thought I killed my rear diff because I shot out of the hole so hard it jerked to the right. So I let off the gas a little, make sure the car was still running... oh well.

And I think I need some shifter bushings. I missed 3rd on 2 of my runs. I mean, I went to shift into 3rd and it would NOT go in! I was getting extremely pissed! But I figured my times were decent since one of those runs I still ran 13.28 with missing 3rd and trying to stuff it in gear. Phew! my clutch is STINKY!

Here is what I could do with the upgraded turbo (vf4018g) at bandimere speedway in colorado (elevation 5800ft)

R/T: .240

60': 2.196

330': 6.030

1/8: 9.232

1000': 11.943

1/4: 14.206

mph: 99.44

Not bad, but I am not completely satisfied. I think when I get a retune from RP I should be in the 13's. The car is much more consistent now. I ran 14.5 and 14.3 for most of my runs. Preciously with the stage 2 tune I was running 14.9 and a couple lucky 14.58's.

I did weigh my car this time: 3300lbs without me in the car. Not bad for a limited 2008 model.

Well atleast it is faster, only thing that concerns me is Legend's car ran a bit faster on the stock vf40 at the same track. However based upon your slip, with some better drivng your car has a 13.9xx in it as it sits.

True, however due to the lack of low end power with this tune, it is difficult to launch. It doesn't really have much until 4K, it should have more power alot sooner. It pulls great up top, just needs more torque down low.

Your car doesn't need a re-tune to run 13's. That mph should be good for 13.7 or quicker with a 1.8 60'.

agreed. you can clean up the map a little, but your 60' sucketh. you need to work on that. get it to 1.8's and you should easily be in 13's.

whoo hooo! I FINALLY RAN MY 12! In the new STI and not changing ANYTHING (other than driver mod). :D

12.94 @ 101 mph (my traps were low, but I'll take it anyways!)

That is some great driving to pull off a 12sec run at just 101mph. Congrats!
