SubyDude is running great deals on rims right now. I think I have chosen these:

Nah, I like the Tarmac 3's a ton better. Go for those with the Toyo T1-R's: can't go wrong with that combination. The T1-R's ride great and are amazing in the rain.

Seek first to understand, then to be understood.

In other words: SEARCH before you post!

That'll look really nice on your ride, bro! :)

I've got a question for you - unless I missed reading it somewhere.....are you looking to run this set year-round, or just "summer?"

most of the 245/40s are too tall to use on the GT if you have stock struts.. they may rub up on the spring perch, better change all the 245/40s to 245/35s to shorten them to make sure they fit.

btw, I chose tires as a priority than the wheels.. tires are what keeps you on the road.

It depends on what you want out of your car.

Good, cheap, sporty summer tire for commuting: Kumho Ecsta SPT.

Smooth quiet ride, good grip: Falken FK452

Top end street/light track performance with some sacrifices to ride quality, noise and treadlife: Falken RT615

All the above are summer tires. If you want all season, then the Kumho Ecsta ASX is a decent tire as well.

As for the size, I'd probably go 235/40/18, althought 225/40/18 is a closer match diameter wise and are quite a bit cheaper as well.

the nasioc thread has many links to pics

thinking about getting 235s for city driving (pothole roads and such).. but 225 seems to be more 'standard'. 235's give more rubber to the road... but does that really matter much?

the price between the 225 and 235 is small... so I guess get the bigger right? Any DISadvantage to this? I will clear the perch and fender right?

man I suck at this stuff.

ask them for 245/35/18, which is very close to stock OD. And yes, a 235 or 245 is SWEET! :D

They are listing STI sizes....be sure to check any against the LGT stock OD. 225/40/18 is the 'normal' size used, but it's a fair amount taller than stock which can make the car feel slower.

245/35/18's are sweet but are an uncommon size and much more expensive than 225/40/18's. 25/40/18's are only about 2% larger diameter wise than stock and make no perceptible difference in acceleration.

agreed on price. disagree on sizing....I had clearance issues with 225/40/18's hitting my fender liners when pulling in/out of the driveway.

Are you serious?:icon_conf 225/40/18's are only 12mm or about 1/2" taller overall than the stock 215/45/17's. I'm on my second set of 225/40/18's and have run my car low enough to be tucking tire and never rubbed. I ran 225/35/19's for about a year, which are 15mm taller than stock on 45mm offset 7.5" wide wheels and hardly ever rubbed. If you were rubbing with 225/40/18's you had the wrong offset wheels on your car.
