TSiWRX
I'm using the soft. Yea. I agree. But its still not as great as a real lip. I agree, too. I'd love to sport the STi piece, but I just can't see myself shelling out the dough to do so, with such high risk of incurring damage. For me, this DIY is definitely a compromise on the side of practicality. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
diamondgraymetallic21
Oh my i'm going to have to tear it off my car now diamondgraymetallic21 says its tacky. Tell me is it tacky like wearing white after laborday or like wearing a brown belt with a black suit? Well for a 30k car it sure is.

TSiWRX
Chunked into some plow-effected ice "boulders" off my driveway apron today. DukeTrout
Ok, finally getting some pictures up of the "wall base" DIY front spoiler. My specs were 3: I wanted a satin finish, not the flat foam look. I wanted a flexible materials so as not to waste my money on a lip that will be broken within a short period. I wanted something that curved up on the sides like the JDM Legacy STi front lip. I found a wonderful material called wall base. it is stiffer than the foam, but still flexible. It was labor intensive, since forming it to the right shape required a heat gun and it had an adhesive backing that I had to remove to allow the curve up along the sides. I spent some quality time with a plastic scraper and some goo gone. Here's the initial result. I still have some tweaking to do, but I think it has some potential. Ich bin echt viel netter, wenn ich nuechtern bin. Echt!

AKLGT
alright, I just finished doing my DIY lip on the STI to help protect the front. I had it for 2 days before it went in for the Clear bra and already 2 or 3 rock chips! Anyways, it's not perfect, but it will do. and if it can survive through one full autox season or until I can bring myself to fork over the $$$ for a real one, I'll be happy. Tell me what you think? Does it look ok? I think I'm going to order one of the STI badges that come on the lips like we have on hubby's (he doesn't run into things like i do). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/2008%20Subaru%20STI/CIMG2741.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/2008%20Subaru%20STI/CIMG2744.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/2008%20Subaru%20STI/CIMG2745.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/2008%20Subaru%20STI/CIMG2747.jpg the edges were a little difficult, but if I followed the line too close it looked retarded. So.... here's what i did instead. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/2008%20Subaru%20STI/CIMG2749.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/2008%20Subaru%20STI/CIMG2750.jpg Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!! AKLGT
I agree it looks a little off if you follow the lines to close but now you have to fill in the corners with something? no, if you look at it from above down, it looks perfect. however, I will probably attach the back of the foam flush to the bumper so you can't see through it like you can now. DukeTrout
Wow, AK, looks really good. Somehow, I think the smaller lip actually looks better on the 08 STi. Fit's the lines better than the ledge-style lip. Ich bin echt viel netter, wenn ich nuechtern bin. Echt!

Am thinking of doing it, and like the smaller lip. Is that rubber or foam?
AKLGT
it's the garage door foam. I'm waiting to hear back from Graham on an actual STI lip and vent visors. I see there are a few places that have them in stock, but it may actually be cheaper to order thru Graham direct since he gives us members a small discount. Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!!
