Omen
Well I was looking at this post on Mazda6 forums and it looks like the MS6 owners are putting down some serious HP without problems after a fuel system flush?: http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=48896&st=
Chiketkd
Damn! 235whp and 270wtq is pretty sweet! He should take it to the strip immediately!
VXCL
aren't they getting the crank power mixed up? they are saying 20% loss for awd, but isnt that car 70% fwd? how does an awd dyno figure out power #'s if the power isnt being put down equally to all 4 wheels? im confused. please help? mbacis
I would assume on the dyno all 4 wheels are powered equally because as the car starts to turn the front wheels and realizes the rears aren't moving at the same speed it will transfer power to the rear until they are. rao
Fuel system flush - those folks are dreaming. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
RyanE
I wonder if the /real/ fix for this problem happened when (I assume) the dealer pulled the negative battery cable before the fuel tank was drained? It seems to me that if the MS6 was like every other car I've dealt with that the ECU would loose its dynamic timing settings and revert to baseline if the battery was disconnected long enough. Filling it up with 93 and driving it would let it re-learn the timing settings without so much knock due to 87 octane gas. Does this seem reasonable? -Ryan

RabidMonk
LOL. His speed6 is great . . . as long as he drives around with race gas and puts a fresh bag of ice on his intercooler every ten mintues . . . Next he'll be bragging that it could break 200 MPH, as long it was loaded on a C5.
john_knoxville
in another more recent thread, that same threadstarter remarked about how he achieved a 13.9 ¼ time and this time used race gas only for the last few runs. what he didn't mention (but his buddy later did) was that his best time was achieved while using the race gas, and that it was 13.99, which he conveniently rounded down to 13.9, so take that FWIW

HansGT
ahh...doesn't also say he was using 104 octane fuel? I think this was covered in another post.
wukindada
There is a local Guy with a MS6....always is running the car on 100oct. You can buy it @ the majority of Racetrac locations down here. On hard launches the front wheels give a puff of smoke...showing it true identity. If there is validity to the #'s mentioned in this thread...he dynoed his car while using 80% 100oct / 20% 93oct. He put down 230whp / 269Ftlb Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!
Mblock66
I thought putting race fuel in a car did nothing unless it had the engine management to support the octane?
j255c
my car would take a dump on that. 06 TB EVO IX SE stock turbo monster subaru hater
wukindada
Yea...you need some type of EM to get the most out of 100oct;) Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!
Mblock66
so the fact that they run 100+ octane on a stock MS6 means nothing. It is just wasting their money, they would have run the same time on 93 octane
wukindada
On 93oct those #'s would go down quite a bit....like maybe 20WHP / & who know how much Tq you would lose. Hey Matt....grab you Ph.....I'm calling;) Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!
NewScooby
It says the dyno pull was done in 3rd gear, is there much of a difference between a 3rd and 4th gear pull?
edmundu
Nah, if anything the 3rd gear pull is a little less stressful on the engine, but as far as power output it has no notable influence one way or the other.
