NOOOOOOO!!!! thats definately no metra kit. its a custom leather wrapped panel that was constructed to hold the head unit and the audio control. I dont know the individual price of the dash cuz it was installed as a whole package but Id say it probably ran like 150 but I had it done before the metra kit was available and its much nicer than the ugly metra kit. more pricey I admit but its worth it for the goals of this car.

Just got a '06 liberty/legacy auto sedan 2.0R, 16 valve DOHC N/A machine.

Yesterday evening, took the dash and console apart and was trying to figure out how to add an aux in for the ipod (without messing with the HU) and finally decided to build one using a DPDT switch (to select between HU source and Ipod) which feeds into an audiocontrol LC6 and onto a 4 channel amplifier with upgraded components in the doors. - SWEET :)

well it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

Greetings.....I am very new to Subarus and a proud owner of an 06 Legacy Special Edition (normally aspirated). I prefer normally aspirated cars and agree it does not take a lot of power to have fun. Much more fun driving a slow car safely at 9/10ths than a fast car at 2/10ths. Case and point.....Mazda Miata. If any of you have owned one you will know. This was by far the best handling and balanced car I've owned....with tons of aftermarket suspension and engine parts. Traded an Lexus IS300..super car in many ways, but I wanted a 4 cylinder sports sedan. The lightweight all wheel drive fit the bill and I got a good deal. The 175hp 4 banger is no slouch either. After the break-in period, I look forward to tuning the suspension. Any help from you guys is much appreciated.

hey brooklyn, you managed to get the s-tech's fitted on your car? I got a 2.5i myself, and been checking out the h-tech's but i donno if they will fit properly.

tein doesn't seem to indicate the s-tech's being compatible w/ the 2.5i on their site, but could it be it don't matter?

2001 Legacy GT here. I feel like this engine is quite adequately suited to its duties in my car. Its not underpowered, but its not overpowered either; and on an Autox track the short gearing in the 5MT, with the smooth strong low end torque help make the car competitive.

My only gripe with this car is the absolutely non-existent aftermarket. The 2nd gen Legacy has more than my 3rd Gen one does, and the new one has a ton.

My plans for this car are mostly handling modifications, I don't intend to even bother with any "power" modifications to the exhaust or intake. If I got an intake it would be for throttle response. When the 08 Impreza comes out I will likely get an STI. Although if there is a Legacy STI by then I might consider one of them, but I really want the DCCD and the bucket seats, go go integrated head rests!

Count me in... I just bought my 05 2.5 N/A Legacy. I am glad I was able to get the 5 speed limited package. I don't think I would be happy with the auto... For the price, I couldn't pass it up!

I have the silver one also... When I went looking for a car I knew that I wanted silver w/ black leather. I was shocked to see a brand new 05 N/A limited on the lot when we went to the subi dealer. I really wanted the GT, but I couldn't pass on the price... The only 05 GT's they had were wagons... After all the rebates and dealer insentives the selling price includeing tax and all the other garbage was 21,759. I put 5,000 down so I only had to finance arround 17000.

I had to pass on the auto tranny. for one I like manual much better. I had wanted a different color than ABP but it was all they had in manual and I tried the auto to see how it was so I could maybe get a better color, I found it extremely lacking. maybe if they had given the 2.5i the 5 speed auto that the GT has it woulda been better. anyway I love the manual tranny anyway.

06 2.5i SE 8500 miles on it. My wife and I switch cars every week to cut down mileage on our Mazda 6. We both love the car. I am so tempted to trade in her Mazda 6 for an LGT so we can have his or hers.

You should tell one of my co-workers that...he has a Mazda 6 and rants and raves about it and he knocks the Legacy because he doesn't have any room for his fat ass inside of it. This other guy was saying how he might get the MS 6 and I told him to look at the SpecB, then the fat ass chimes in and says how he hates the Legacy and the MS 6 is way better. I sent the both of them this link:
