Friends. Me and Godwin are to the 48hrs of Tristate drive, starting tomorrow night. A couple of you have already contributed, so thanks a million. Should you like to contribute, here is my page. It’s an amazing cause, amazing charity, and amazing adventure. This year, David is staying home and Paige is joining me for the first time. SOA is opening their facility (and apparently private museum) to us tomorrow night. Can’t wait!! Contribute if you can. XO

Wow to $16k?  Wow.

I miss seeing Ken sun scorched red in the face hawking gear from under an EZ-Up trackside in the So Cal desert during motox season.  Before DC shoes.  Does that show my age?  RIP Ken, you were WAY cool.

@JJBerk, you had me at "hello".  Donation made.  Sorry I can't make the drive.

Wife sorta signed off on trip. Probably heading out early June and Cannonball'ing to ECM. Gps says it's 27 hours straight shot from Seattle. Might break it up into a few days.

4 day stay then head out for New England before wandering down the east coast/Appalachian mountains again.

I only got one run on the dragon, and with a heavily loaded car.

Want to fully traverse the Natchez Trace. Especially after reading about a blacked out car that used to run it with night vision glasses.  :)

At any rate, @m sprank when you have costs for rooms figured out, let me know.

Deposit check has cleared.

Our house is almost 25yrs old.  Wife wants new floors, kitchen, baths, windows, siding (she wants brick), and a "granny flat" extension. Yeah, when I win the lottery. Mary asked for a she shed for her birthday. Done. My plans for a car are dead.  I am sooooo gonna laugh my arse off at Mary's wedding. I am setting that fool up big time.

  • 2 weeks later...

We're still in the plans to attend.  We're looking at motorhomes as we now have a fur baby to bring with us and I've not had one for almost 20 years, so if I can find the "right" one that we both like, AND if it's capable of towing, I just MAY bring the LGT out along with me, but no promises.  If gas is $2565496584196584367434 a gallon by then, I may not be able to afford towing it.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.  Last year was too short for us, and we look forward to relaxing and shooting the bull for at least one and hopefully two nights.

In the event we don't find a motorhome, we would most likely be snoozing in the van but if we could shower, that would be great too.  Our new Luna will be along, so we'll have to accommodate her too.

@JmP6889928 Would you put the "snowplow" on if you trailer it out?

You and @LosAngelesLGT are tied in my memories for scariest ride-along in an lgt. You explaining about turbos as yours was screaming is funny in retrospect. Still wish we could have made the ultimate hta68 rebuild. It still spooled better after the "rebuild".

Hey folks, just want to put out that I probably have just 1 more container coming in before ECM '24 in case anyone wants to import parts from Japan. The first shipment is behind me now and I'm going to be driving down to Texas (in the Suburban) next Tuesday to pick it up. Big thanks to our dear moderator @Infosecdad for being an early customer, I'll be dropping off a bunch of parts to his house on my way back.

There's a small chance that the container I found might run out of space, buy I think you will be able to hop on if you place your orders by the end of February. I'm migrating my website right now so it's down, but there's a bunch of how-to info on my pinned posts on Instagram.

I will crosspost this in the muFreight thread if the mods are alright with it.

Yes, I can, lol. It would require me to find a facility to unload the car, stateside, but yes I can. It will be my first but I'll be committed to seeing it through. There are a bunch of car importers on the west coast, too, but it's a notoriously shady industry. Here's a Facebook group called I Got Screwed by Shady JDM Importers that has 38,000+ members.

As far as T Swift, my business does not condone that sort of importation 🤗

The house:

Also Known as "Serenity on the Bluff", the home received its name because it is located in an area of Yates County known as Bluff Point. Bluff Point is the peninsula what separates the East and West branches of Keuka Lake. Long ago the shores of Bluff Point were covered with vineyards and dotted with steam boat landings to ferry people and agricultural products to the three towns on Keuka Lake. Over time the vineyards were abandoned and were gradually replaced with campsites, seasonal cottages and year round homes.

This home was finished in the year 2000 and has approximately 4000 square feet of living space. The home includes six bedrooms including one bedroom with a balcony, four full baths. The main floor has an open floor plan including a large living room, dining and kitchen area. There is also a recreation/game room, and huge partially-covered deck.

This home faces West and is located near the tip of the peninsula that separates the East and West branches of Keuka Lake. The main floor has an open floor plan, that included a large living room with a wood burning fireplace, dining area, and kitchen. In addition there are three bedrooms, each with its own queen-size bed. Two of the bedrooms face the Keuka Lake. The third bedroom is on the wooded side of the home and has its own private full bathroom with a shower. Off the main hall is a full bathroom with a tub/shower. Adjacent to the dining area is a huge, partially-covered deck. The deck is furnished with tables, chairs, bar set, charcoal grills, play houses for children and the jetted hot tub. The deck is surrounded by a railing/fence with latch-able gates. The deck faces the Keuka Lake and is fantastic for dining, relaxing, and enjoying the breath-taking Keuka Lake sunsets.

The upper floor has two huge bedrooms and a full bath with a tub/shower. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, day bed with a trundle and a private covered porch that faces the Keuka Lake. The second bedroom has a king-size bed, day bed with a trundle and faces the Keuka Lake. The lower level has another master bedroom, a semi-private full bath with a shower, laundry room, and recreation/game room. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, a propane fireplace, and a sliding glass door that faces the lake. The recreation/game room is equipped with two day beds with trundles, a children's play kitchen, book and video library, game table, foosball/table soccer, full size video arcade games; Atari Road Blasters and Atari Dig Dug, toys, games and puzzles. Additionally, the recreation/game room has a large picture window facing Keuka Lake. The home and yard is surrounded on three sides by woods. There a large off-street parking area for at least nine vehicles. The parking area is at the end of a long semi-private driveway and within 20 feet of the home. Also, adjacent to the deck is a fire ring surrounded by benches. This is a fantastic place to spend a romantic evening or to gather with your family and roast marshmallows under the stars. Fire wood is provided.

Access to the lake is located in front of the home via a path and stairway with 128 steps and four landings that weaves around whispering pines and culminates on the 40 plus foot long dock. The shoreline is natural and unspoiled, including a dock, and swim raft. From the shoreline the water has a very gradual increase in depth as one walks into the lake. The lake bottom is hard and consists of shale, stones and rocks of various sizes. Water shoes, sneakers or other foot protection are a recommended due to the natural shale bottom and zebra mussels.

Accommodation Information: Bed summary: Three Kings, Three Queens, and Eight Singles. The home includes; comforters, blankets and pillows. The home does not include linens or towels. The linen package includes; bed sheets, pillow cases, bath towels, beach towels and face cloths for 20.

That was an encyclopedia.

Cost = $2732.80 (includes security deposit)

7 days = $390.40 per day.

6 rooms = $65.07/day per room.

My head is spinning trying to put individual prices on rooms, "camp sites", etc.

It's a group event and in the interest of fairness and democracy I am looking for input.

Call it $66 per day per room regardless?  You only pay for the number of days spent at the house.  Obviously I will be carrying a larger share as I am staying all 7 days and might have the house to myself for a few.  Should anyone sleeping in their towed rig have to pay an parking fee?  What is fair for everyone?

Or I can play asshat event orgainzer like it's Subiefest and rape everyone so I can stay for free.

9 cars of parking?

is that a physical limitation or something else?

 i'm good charging by bedroom.

campers we should charge a bathroom fee...or bring a porta potty? i see your point about charging rates.

is anyone bringing a boat? do we need/want one? (alcohol and boating...ugh)

Owner called it a "large parking area that holds at least nine cars".  This is "off street" private parking. It's on the actual property about 20 feet from the house. More parking on the street if needed. I am sure we can figure that out.

I know Jenny is planning on bringing the small camping trailer. I think we have enough rooms and beds for everyone even if she does not. If Johnny has his heart set on roughing it, I suppose he can.

I can only eat out so much before my stomach revolts. I plan on hitting the grocery store upon arrival and stocking the kitchen enough to make most of my meals. Jenny has graciously offered to cook dinner for the group (we know she won't be up for breakfast).

We are happy to pay $66 a day too. With our camper. We’ll share the full bath on the main floor. Unsure of our dates, but I’ll likely come up midweek and David will just join for the weekend. You collecting $$ @m sprank?

I do not think that's at all unreasonable. It's not like I get a lot of holiday time/year, so I can spend a little on accomodations.

Whether or not I stay inside is a bit besides the point for me. If there is air conditioning turned on to any degree, I'll probably avoid being inside most of the time, I don't enjoy AC much.

If there is full access to a kitchen, and an indoor washroom with hot water + all the rest of that giant list of accomodation stuff, then I don't think the ask is too much. If we end up with better attendance than is perhaps anticipated thus far, and you fill more rooms with folks that really want them, great... see if that turn into reduction for everyone.

You found a great looking place for us to stay, on a lake, near some other neat stuff to go and do, then put all that on your CC (or whatever).  Thanks very much for all that @m sprank. I couldn't have done so if I had wished.

Well.... all that except for if @boxkita takes a king size bedroom with lakeside view all to himself, and parks his 86 on the deck. In that case, I think we can all agree he can pay a premium and we'll all take a discout. 😉

Thank you for your hard work Mike.  Truly appreciated and the pricing at $66 per day is a heck of a bargain by any measure.  I would say that any of us staying in the house could help out a bit more for all of your effort by an extra few $$$.  I know I will and even if I don't stay in the house just because I'm thankful you did all of the work.

I'll keep in touch on this and hoping we find the correct motorhome we're looking for and that will alleviate any sleeping arrangement anxiety but I have no issue paying my share for the lovely sounding facility.
