Stopped by my buddy at endless possibilities in aurora to get the jdm power folding mirrors hooked up. The work was actually more intense than i thought itd be but being the wiring guru that he is, Cesar was able to wire up the jdm mirrors by soldering the jdm mirror connections to the usdm wires and adding some relays or whatnot, im not sure what he did but ultimately, he made them work 🙌 and of course the purple grampuses are on

Back from the shoppe and omg what a day and night difference! The stock bilsteins did its job ya know, comfortable and capable. But due to its age and rust, it was time to replace as it was making a clunking noise.

With these b8 struts and h&r springs! Its really great german engineering at work. The ride is incredibly sporty afffff, like its on rails (i hate that saying but its literally the truth lol) but it is also comfortable, the best of both worlds. Much more comfortable than my forester. The stability and connectiveness to the chassis and lower center of gravity makes the car handle in a way that u can Feel thru ur fingers to the point of where it Can feel scary at high speeds over 80 (however i feel like its nothing better tires cant fix). The tightness the car feels when it pulls becuz of no body roll or slouche unlike before is very direct. Handling wise, its very nimble now that its lowered. I can feel the car being much faster than before. I feel much more joy and smiles where i want to drive spiritedly every time i get behind the wheel, even at low speeds. With the catback roaring behind and the intake pspspshing lol It gives me the confidence to try to pull on anybody haha. Its totally like a stock gd impreza sti of the time but with a little edge, as least thats how i like to look at it.

This whole setup were not cheap btw. Were they worth the price? Borderline yes. For the money, u can probably buy the cheapest k&w coilovers or fortune auto coilovers. But as a street use car, and sticking with bilsteins, these are probably one of the best for the money for strut/spring combo. However, i am curious on how these compare to the konis

Heres some pics of them along with the whiteline front center roll adj. The front control arms seen better days. Guess theyre next to upgrade lol

p.s. the bilsteins and the springs are coated for anti corrosion

Oem 06 spec b front top hats and kyb rear top hats. so apparently when i went to the dealer for them, what they got was the 06 lgt /outback front tophats. there are no spec b specific for that year i guess.

What will you do about the front door handle/switch windows being made for another market? Will you just swap the wood over and not the plastics?

The door handle trims that you have are awesome, I have never seen them done like that before. didn't even know you could separate them from the door panels.

I also have carbon fiber Ebrake handle, door handles, vents, as well as the interior door open leaver/lock & steering wheel column covers, looking for the navigation/center vents in carbon fiber or faux cf just have not seen any so I may look into getting mine hydro dipped or try to find someone to overlay some carbon fiber over it.

Now I did see 08-09 Albero steering wheel buttons in carbon fiber last week, but they sold for 200, and I couldn't justify spending that on buttons knowing I would need to pull my steering wheel off and rewire the buttons.

#LGTSTi is still cheaper and nicer then an equal year wrxsti

Did a car wash and vacuum today. Swapped out some faux cf trim pieces. Still gotta do the door stuff but in goes the side vents, back seat light dome, and put in my extra set of front black sti floor mats. Swapped out the sti faux cf mirror cover for a better looking cf cover. Also conditioned front and rear leather seats.

my clutch apparently was slipping so i was forced to face the unevitable which i knew was coming i just didnt know when (at 74k miles). Back at trusty 6* motorsports and they replaced the clutch with X clutch and new oem flywheel along with the rear main seal. This has been a restoration project for sure 😭 i also had them use the torque solutions pitch fork and pivot that i bought on black friday last year. I cant wait until i get the car back and drive it. But now that ive invested in a new clutch, i guess ill be sticking with the 5spd forever lol no more 6spd swap plans, but its okay hopefully i can get the new FL5 Type R in the future. Purple x clutch matches my purple grampus signals btw 💜

Update breakdown replaced:

-XClutch sprung organic clutch kit subaru
-oem flywheel
-flywheel bolt
-rear main seal ej
-front driver axle seal
-front passenger mt output shaft seal sti
-liqui moly gl-5 75w-90 gear oil 1L
-torque solutions pitch fork & pivot

Just go with one of the 2015-202x WRX splitcase 6MT that will reuse everything from the 5MT, including fork, clutch, driveshaft, mounts, etc.  😛
