🤔 do explain. So ur saying it lets me stay 5x100 annnd lets me swap to spec b 6spd with my original 5spd parts?

There are two types of 6spd transmissions.

The solid case 6spd that is in the STi and SpecB that uses a different case, direct shift linkage, and heavier built. It's arguably the best transmission that Subaru has built.

There is also a split-case 6spd that the 2015+ WRX (and 2010-2012 LGT) uses that is based off the 6spd transmission built for the EU diesel engines. It uses the 5spd case and is redesigned internally to have a 6th gear and has a cable driven shifter.  It shares the same external components that the 5spd does due to the same case.  It's not as heavy duty as the solid case 6spd from STi and SpecB, but if you aren't pushing 400hp, then the split-case may work just fine for you.  A few of us now have upgraded our 5spd to this 6spd transmission with excellent results.

Here is my thread about my experiences:

There are a few others linked from it as well if you are interested.

Infosecdad, are you still averaging some good mpg numbers with that case?

Yes, sir, I am still getting 26-27 mpg when I keep her around 72-75 mph on the highway.

80 mph will drop to 24-25 mpg, and 65 mph will bump to 27-28 mpg.

The sixth gear is so lovely for dropping the RPMs when cruising.

Got the car back today and holy grail what a difference! Still getting used to the new x clutch but apparently its rated like a exedy stage 1 clutch for over 400hp, which is overkill for my needs which also means reliable afff cuz ill never reach 400. The engagement or bite of the clutch is direct and immediate. Its a heavier clutch than im used to but itll loosen up overtime. My shifter is nice, direct and firm again which is a plus. I can tell that the legacy will very much be like an oem+ build and its almost on par with my forester even tho its faster than the forester, im almost done with the build. Now i just gotta wait and break it in to really step on it.

Now that i got my car back, ive been itching to put these in. P2M grey and black checkered floor mats. These are for the gd impreza chassis but itll fit in the legacy, not perfectly but itll do. I always wanted checkered floor mats especially in red and black but the only company i found that can make em costs over $400.. these p2m were only $100 on ebay and theyre pretty quality mats. Im glad i got these becuz they match pretty well with the black carpet and the t/b sti checkered door sills. The sti floor mats i had before looked out of place and belongs in the forester for sure. What do u think? Also preserving the spec B red floor mats and putting them away.

Wow this looks awesome. I might have to grab some for myself! There are so many Legacy specific parts that I’ve never seen that you have acquired. Especially the screen in the armrest.

Finally got around and combined the usdm and jdm center consoles with the optional dealer sony dvd screen. I only installed the screen so hopefully i can get it to screenshare when i get my pioneer unit installed up front.

Never saw that optional jdm option. Do you hit your elbow on that arm rest when you change gears?

yeah i never knew anything about it either until i got this legacy and started building it lol and i used to have a 05 LGT prior. yeah my elbow does hit the armrest but only a little bit. its a little annoying but livable.

Yeah. Where do you store the screen when not in use?

theres a compartment in the armrest where it folds up and reveals storing space for the screen.

Also, where did you get that 'shade thing' for the navigation screen?

from japan auctions. its where i got like 90% of these jdm parts from 😅 its the actual visor from subaru for japan legacies. their oem screen is a little wider than usdm screens for some reason
