NickB34
You can also pick up those 4 post relays that have an integrated fuse, which will add some protection to your electrical system
CasopoliS
I made a bracket this morning out of 3/4" steel stock. Thickness is like 1/8" or around there. Just need to paint it flat black now. The horns will not look like they do in the picture.... they will be different. http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/3797/dscn2042ob9.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/5648/dscn2044pg4.jpg The bracket: http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/9340/dscn2045bq4.jpg
Garandman
Here are a couple pics of my supertones. I used the hella relay and the diagram in post #3 to wire everything up. The relay is mounted in the left corner of the grille opening (you can see the blue wire connectors) using an existing threaded hole. The horns themselves I mounted using an existing hole in the cross support with a bolt and lock nut. Jon Nice. I just bought a set of Hella Compact Trumpet horns (I live in the city) and that looks like a great spot to mount them. The SuperTones only draw 2 watts each more so I can retrofit them if the 110db isn't enough. http://www.hella.com/produktion/HellaPortal/WebSite/Internet_usa/ProductsServices/Images/Compact_Trumpet.jpg Who Dares Wins スバル

MDW25gt
Looks like the cooling air to the radiator is blocked with the front mounts. That cant be good! I would find a way around that.

Garandman
Had the Hella Compact Trumpet horns mounted in lieu of the stock horns. They fit in the same location, but barely. They're somewhat louder, and sound more like an American car horn. I liked my old air horns better but there are disadvantages to those in terms of mounting and response. We may try the new three way integrated compressor horns on our van, which has lots of mounting room. Who Dares Wins スバル
Claw
Good thread.. might give me the confidence to do it myself. How do the Supertones compare to the Stebels?
j.reed
Looks like the cooling air to the radiator is blocked with the front mounts. That cant be good! I would find a way around that. I'm not worried, plus I have the fans-stuck-on problem, so I'm sure that'll compensate.
PhilT
Installed the Supertones over the weekend, very easy to do. I just put spades on the wires coming from the new horns, and plugged them into the existing connectors, no need for the relay that came with them. I've positioned the horns like Casopolis has done, but closer together, not sure if I like it though as it is quite obvious from the front. just_phil
Had the Hella Compact Trumpet horns mounted in lieu of the stock horns. They fit in the same location, but barely. I got the Supertones mounted in place of the stock horns, and they fit in there quite comfortably. I had to grind the corner of the new (supplied) mounting strip, so that one of the horns sits at an angle, while the other one goes straight down, just like the OEM one. I also had to bend it forward just a little bit to avoid touching anything. The first time I tried it on an empty stretch of the road, my wife and I both giggled stupidly. Now I am afraid to use it, so that I don't scare anybody off the road
