I actually did a few carrier qual detachments on the Stennis while it was still in San Diego. VS-41 is a training/FRS squadron so we were on every carrier on the west coast (even the connie before she decommed). And in 2006, I returned to the Stennis with VAW-112 for the work up cycles and deployed with her in 2007. That ship is near and dear to me because it was the first Navy ship I stepped on when I was in VA back in 98 as an Airman recruit (just visiting) and the last ship I stepped off when I separated from active duty after deployment last year.

i was subs my entire enlisted life, but i have to say, i liked my tour on the aircraft carrier.

wow I may have to re-enlist to play with all the cool new toys. Do I have to go back as an 11B/P. Or can I pick what I want this time.

I am in a unit in Special Operations Command and since we are not operators we are still using M16A2s so don't get to excited unless you plan on becoming a Combat Arms guy you will likely still be using the M16A2. If you are luck you will get the M16A4 which is a great weapon system.

Been there did that once already, If I am going to re-enlist again @ 38 years old it wont be for 11 bang bang. I had enough of desert storm & Somalia to shake a stick at.

On a side note Happy Fourth of July to all the men & women serving in, or have served in the armed forces. If it wasn't for you we would not be here. My hats off to all, & we must never our fallen friends & hero's.:)

What was your enlisted rate Sir? If you don't mind me asking.

i was a nuclear machinist mate/engineering laboratory technician. what some would call the cheesy side of the mm house. made chief in 8 and went limited duty officer when i decided i was going to stay in for atleast 20. my only regret...i wont get to be called Master Chief. those to me are two powerful words when put together and i have met alot of good ones.
