Guntrain
SubieGT, what ship where you on that had the Don't Tread on me flag? It was always given to the oldest ship in the fleet, and i was stationed on the USS Independence when it had the honor to carry that flag, and then when she decom, i ended up on the Kitty Hawk who then took over the flag since she ended be the oldest. We took lots of pride in being the only ship in the navy to carry that flag http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r233/Robsr78/DTOM2020copy_roll.gif http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r233/Robsr78/shipcenter96-1.jpg EDIT: Nevermind i just saw the flag on the mast of your ship that you posted a pic of. AngryLitho
They actually have it now, "In a time of WAR" All Ship's that are in port fly the DON'T TREAD ON ME flag from the forecastle mast, and the National Ensign is flown from the Aft Mast. As far as the actual holder of the DON'T TREAD ON ME flag, that is something I didn't know. When the ship drops lines and is "Underway" they shift colors ,Ensign, from the Aft Mast, to the Gaff, and the Don't Tread on Me is hauled down. The Kitty Hawk when she made it back from Japan, actually had the Homeward Bound Pennant which I didn't even know existed until then. Random knowledge picked up for advancement exam. Guntrain
Yup, i knew the navy allowed all ships to raise the Don't tread on me flag after enduring freedom. I was very dissapointed because it meant alot to us stationed on the shitty kitty, and quite frankly we didn't want to share lol http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/741931/posts and yeah, i read alot about the Vincennes when i was in A school..
