Norulz can you please elaborate on how your oil is making your engine quieter? I'm not even asking this to hate, I'm really curious as to how a different oil makes your engine quieter. Especially where you have tuned the car to shift at higher RPM's, your valves are moving at a much quicker rate than the a stock tune. Do you have an oil analysis with results from previous oils you used? Do you plan on doing one with this oil to compare? Whats your normal oil consumption rate? Did previous oil lose Viscosity over whatever interval you change your oil at? Did you experience fuel dilution?

Maybe it was low? Or it could have lost viscosity over time. SOHC subaru's aren't what I'd call "as quiet as a sewing machine".

I think it's time to stop screwing around, and throw some delta 272's in it.

Losing viscosity and consumption is a well known issue on any EJ platform engine so that's no surprise to me if it did. That's typically why most of us switch it up to 5w40 or change our oil frequently

my 09 burned oil like no other. The sensor for the oil light never worked either.

Interesting. Mine was def used for long distance commutes. It was rock solid, but a slug up the mountain passes. Now I guzzle prius blood and oil like no other. :)

Still waiting to see how this thread ends. Interested in seeing what the chamber can do/does.

I'm waiting to see if he provides us with ANY real data/information on this tune other than "OMG IT PULLS SO HARD!" or how racing grade motor oil made the engine quiet.

Well, you know how it is, sometimes the engine will be insta quieter by virtue of getting fresh oil alone. I run PP 10w30 year round and yes, having switched from a 5w30 grade from other brands, the engine is quieter. If I recall right from oil analyses, I've been told that within a viscosity grade there is a range, so you could have, in a sense, a 40-weight oil that's on the thin side, or one that's on the thicker side, with a perceptible change to engine noise. But, as miles rack up and the oil does what it's supposed to, the difference is imperceptible.

I betcha a 20W50 oil will make that engine even quieter

Well I got some of the parts on and had a little power steering issue popup:lol:

Kakimoto Intake Chamber, I kept the stock box :) ( I did add the other clamp)

Next was the TS Pitch stop ( more vibration through the dash)

Next I installed the BBR ram air to the foglight bezel (The painting did not come out as great as I want it but time was short. I will re-paint)

Lalle JDM diff support (Beatrush) Time ran out for install

My PS decided to have a fit so I did the flush (Deer Killer style) Car is so smooth now. Amsoil PS fluid is great for the system. This is why the other parts were not installed

My o-ring was black and brittle, new one is orange

Car is back on the road.

Well due to the power steering o-ring, I still had the perrin steering lockdown, front rear diff busing, Rear diff insert bushing, and Lalle Beatrush support.

1st Drive:

Well I reset the ECU via rom raider, fired her up, and let it rung for about 15 mins looking things over. I then went for a small drive down the block. So I took the car to work this morning and all was smooth. No hiccups, or weird issues to report. Car is running very nice. I have yet to stretch the legs out yet :lol:.

I will be doing some logging and should have a new tune with this K chamber. The car does sounds very nice. I can hear the sounds of it sucking air at idle and when I give it some gas. I will have some more info and install pics soon.

I need to flush my PS system and while I was at it i wanted to remove and replace the O-ring since its 168K miles old. Did you follow a guide on here ? I also need to replace me trans mount my OEM one is separating from the steel. I want a Group N but then again I dont want more NVH.

You should be able to pick up an STI (the actual brand from Subaru, not the part from the car model) one which adds a little bit of stiffness with minimal NVH increases. If your car has a lot of miles on it, even a new OEM part will fix some of the slop.

Oh so the 6MT mount will fit my 5MT? I was just looking at RockAuto and notice the cross reference. Thanks for the advice, I already have updated front and rear bushings (shifter) and I thought the "tick" i heard when letting out the clutch after a speed bump was something else then I realized while under the car the mount is toast.

Deer killer's guide works pretty well.

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/howto-replace-power-steering-fluid-15-minutes-172976.html

This is basically all you have to do

Loosen the power steering belt, so that you can turn the power steering pulley with a ratchet.

Disconnect the power steering hose entering ps reservoir, and put it into a catch pan or something similar.

With that hose disconnected, I had to unbolt the ps reservoir and tilt it up, so that fluid wouldn't spill out. Then you just use your ratchet on the ps pulley nut, and keep cranking away while you add fluid to the ps reservoir.

I also went in my car and did a few turns lock to lock to get as much old fluid out as possible, refilling the reservoir after each lock to lock turn.

My post there where I go into a little more detail about what I did

No, the STI Branded 5mt one. STI is the name of Subaru's performance division in addition to SPT. It's not actually from an STI MODEL of car.

Nice and straightforward, right?

Anyway, I can't seem to find it online anymore. Group N may be your best bet. Otherwise, call your local dealership, or dig around here: http://parts.subaru.com/

Mods can we please lock this thread? At no point has the OP provided any answers to legitimate questions and has yet to provide any results from what he's done either. This has turned in to a humble brag/how much can I rice my car out thread. Last time I checked these are technical discussion forums.

No he hasn't posted data and that is his prerogative if he wishes. It is his thread and he's documenting his thread as he sees fit for his purposes. Are you required to post proof of your penis size when talking about how big it is in your post on 4chan? I think not.

I wouldn't know I don't use 4chan. This however is a car forum where we talk about cars and provide insight to one another incase someone else wants to follow suit. Saying you e-tuned your car and the results were omgitpullssohardbbqwtf isn't a good example for those looking to follow suit. Last I checked we don't have a member journal section like IWSTI or Nasioc does, but this is a technical discussion forum.
