6th Gen Legacy Wheel Thread

Recommended Posts

Check with an online calculator: http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=225&aspect=55&diameter=18&wheelwidth=7.5&offset=55&width2=225&aspect2=60&wheel_size=18&wheel_width=7-5&offset2=55

The speedo error will be 3% - generally recommendation by most tyre shops is to keep it within +/-2%.

Also you may have to be careful with your insurance as some companies won't like it if you put on under-size or over-size tyres.

anyone seen specs for these yet? since they have a 225/40R18 maybe they're compatible?

Not sure if they have a name yet but they're the Impreza Sport wheel. Here's a close-up showing a bit more detail:

I originally thought they were a variation on the Legacy Limited wheel but the dark spokes are quite different in design.

Does anyone know if 225/60/18's tires fit the 2015? I saw one with 225/55/18s... thats less than a one inch difference.

Thanks in advance!

No they will not. I tried, just barely rubbed on spring perch.

55's should be fine.

Thinking about dipping my 17" WRX winter wheels before I get them mounted up.

White or gold? My car is Twilight Blue.

The wheels and tires ended up fitting..

How close is it to the spring perch up front? Can you get a shot like this? (For reference this is my current setup, not the snow tires that rubbed)

My only thought is the tread was deeper on the snow tires I test fitted which made them rub.

That or maybe that they were a more square profile. The corners of those look quite rounded whereas a lot of off-road/mud/snow tyres tend to be a bit more square.

That could definitely be a factor as well. Based on Tire Rack's specs the tread depth of the Outback's stock Bridgestone Dueler is 2/32 less than the Firestone Winterforce, which would've been enough to clear it. Plus the tread width is skinnier so like you said, more rounded off versus squared.

Just got these for winter - really didn't like now the factory tires handled in snow/ice last year.

Original tires on left, new BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK WS80 in 225/60R-16 on right:

I just read almost every post in this thread, from page 1, looking for info on the 3.6r wheels. I was thinking of doing mine in a flat or glossy black.

How did you prep yours and what paint did you use? Looks really good!

I'm using wheel specs that aren't in the consolidated tables on Pg.1 of this thread, so I thought I'd share.

Swapped out my stock 18" cast wheels for used Prodrive GC-010E (http://www.prodrive-japan.com/en/products/gc_010e_forged) 18 x 8 ET43 forged wheels, which are a discontinued model. Weighed in at 8.2kg (18.1 pounds) vs 11.3kg (24.9 pounds) stock.

They had lots of kerb rash and gold wheels aren't my thing, so I had a shop repair them and respray them gloss black.

Before respray:

After respray:

Reused my stock 225/50R18 Dunlop Sport Maxx 050 tyres because I like the comfort and the way they fill up the wheel arches without making me splurge on bigger wheels:

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161101/37dd37158651254c51813f2b00eb522d.jpg

They poke 18.6mm more than stock - enough to look a bit more flush, while still giving me space within the arches to lower the car without worrying about the rubbing I was getting in the rear, back when I was using 25mm spacers with the stock wheels:

As you can see, plenty of clearance for my AP Racing front calipers:

Rears are of course fine too:

Nice looking wheels.. !

Thanks! You're thinking of going either flat or gloss black, right? Looks aside, one of the reasons I went gloss is the clear lacquer finishing coat the shop put on, which seems to keep the wheels slightly cleaner than matte finishes.

Yes gloss of flat. Very good point on the clear coat finish. The OEM wheels have a nice clear coat on them and they are a dream to clean.

I'll have to read up on refinishing the wheels. I have the equipment just need the knowledge.

Were you given a guarantee at all against chipping and overall failure?
