GTEASER
No others install this yet? Its a no brainer as far as I am concerned. Especially considering how easy it is to install. I will when I have monies. Trying to get to Stage2 and just dropped a small fortune on some sick suspension upgrades that still need to be installed. blklgt05
Finally had time to put this in, time for a test drive. http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s253/blklgt05/FullSizeRender_zpsahqfoj7w.jpg Install was super easy too, no need to loosen any of the other bolts from underneath the car. Just use the longer bolt, screw the 2 plates together, then put the shorter one in. mod journal
blklgt05
Driving impression: When I used to rock the steering wheels left-right just a bit, the wheels don't really move until that movement is much wider. That's the disconnect between you and the road. After you install this, just look at your wheels as you rock your steering wheel back and forth and try not to smile. This is easily one of the best bang for the buck for me. On the road it's definitely a learning curve. Just not used to this much positive feedback and control. That being said you do have to pay more attention because even a small adjustment would change the direction of your car's movements. I find myself to be able to easily drive parallel to the lines on the freeway and as closely to it as possible without having to constantly make steering adjustments. Cornering is much more predictable as well. Guys, I've done most mods to my GT in the past 5 years and I would honestly say that this mod is a must, it's as significant as the short shift adaptor or RSB IMO and so easy to install from underneath the car. Do it! mod journal
brandon.mol
I agree. I don't know why its not getting more attention. Loosening the spline clamps on the universal joints is important to let the thing seat properly. Since putting this in extends the length of the universal joint shaft a little bit you would otherwise be putting that pressure in the bearings in the steering rack and/or steering column. It's not hard to do... Don't be lazy!
brandon.mol
I noticed on the highway as well that there is wayyyy more feedback in the wheel. At first it feels like the steering is heavier but its really just that you are actually holding the wheels rather than them floating around. blklgt05
I'm so used to it that I don't even notice it anymore, steering is precise and it makes it so easy to go around corners. If I started all my mods over, this would be the first one before RSB. mod journal

This is to your steering wheel what the brass shifter bushing was to your shift lever. It's blowing my mind that the uptake is so minimal on this. Good Lord its hard to enable you guys these days. Lucky_Heartless
Thanks! Next up is wheel swap with an Impreza sport and rally armor flaps....because rally. Looking back I should have bought a more age appropriate car vs a middle aged grocery getter.

brandon.mol
does the Perrin steering damper lockdown fit on an '05? ... Or are you talking about something else?. I am starting to get the feeling various people think this is the same thing as the subframe bushing inserts or something to do with the steering rack. Just based on a few comments that have been made here and there.
Rhitter
Yes, it fits on an 05. He is talking about the same thing. I installed one on my 2008 Outback and I love it. My OBXT build
bettner12
IF you have the ability to get under the car and loosen the rack, the STi steering linkage would be a better solution to the problem in my opinion. Granted, most people aren't going to be able to do that, so props to Perrin for a solution for fills the need for 98% of the market, that's what makes a good product. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6088/6160339125_350e41bdf8_z.jpg
