I don't have the H&R's, but have the Koni/Eibach set up in Madison.

I went with a Sixstarbernie kit in my build with an OEM water pump. https://sixstarbernie.com/i-23188127-subaru-oem-timing-belt-kit-sohc-outback-legacy-baja-1999-2012-100-usa-japan-parts.html?ref=category:1171146

I haven't and it's a good idea, but mine's not in terrible shape. I more wanted it to have a soft leather feel and a little thicker grip on the wheel. I will probably go with the Moogs in the back as well. I picked up a set of Moog end links for the front from HumbleRumble and they were beefier than the stocks as well. I don't think there's a wrap on the stock steering wheel. I think it's just a molded chunk of plastic/vinyl or some kind of polymer. I guess I really don't need to do anything with the steering wheel, I just thought it would be a nice cheap little upgrade.

Thanks Falcor, that makes it super easy! Now I'll grab a couple end links and I'm good to go. I still haven't decided if I'm going to use that janky steering wheel cover or choose not waste the time on it...? I'll put all my other bits in first and then decide if I have the time or effort to deal with that after.

I PM'd him asking about steering wheel options... not sure I have that much $$ for that right now either. I need wheels and tires first. Is it the 08-14 STi/WRX rear sway bars that fit our cars?
-
A year ago today my LGT was leaving home under someone else's power and the engine build began. On another note, has anyone that covered their steering wheels had this issue? The bottom seams don't line up and the overall fit around the diameter of the wheel is a bit baggy. I'm trying to contact the seller with no luck either. I posted the pics as links, so if you click on them the resolution gets much better. I'll take some pics tonight of the vinyl I put over the plastic trim covers on the steering wheel. I was looking to do a complete facelift on it, but ended up with only the vinyl.

[How-To] Clutch Damper Valve Delete

I'm not sure if there is one in the WRX... after looking a bit, there doesn't seem to be. If you go through this thread there's discussion about other compatibilities. These are the compatible cars to the part number 37255AJ000, in the USDM. There's a tab down the page that reads "what this fits" click that to see compatible vehicles. https://parts.wildesubaru.com/p/Subaru__/49247663/37255AJ000.html I would follow the advice of GTEASER and either try to order one from your local dealer or get a generic flare fitting union online. -

There is on the USDM cars, not sure about JDM...? I wondering if you could find one on a scrapped WRX in your area? -
What did you buy for your 5th gen today? - V3

Haha, I couldn't decide and ended up getting the upper grill and some black mesh for the bottom. Trynna save some money, but will probably end up losing money by getting the lower later for more $$... -

Just picked this up today... https://www.ebay.com/itm/GRILLCRAFT-SUB1733B-Black-MX-Grille-Upper-Insert-for-10-12-Subaru-Legacy-Sedan/400903433002?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 It will look better and hopefully open the air flow a tad to my AWIC heat exchanger. Just beginning to get a bit warmer around here and it's starting to give me the itch to get the ole GT out of hibernation! -

That is indeed the clutch dampener. Looks like it's in a much easier spot than the USDM LGT dampener. -

Does RikGT have a website he sells from or is it only by personal contact? -

@meat I gave you an upvote this morning on the legacy subreddit as well... @Falcor almost looks like a different paint job compared to your avatar pic. -

Damn, you have done so much to you car, I'm floored that you haven't done this simple yet awesome little thing. That dampener likes to put hot spots on the clutch. -
LGT Owners, what car will you drive next?
stewdogg replied to EvilCamaroSS's topic in Fifth Generation Legacy (2010 - 2014 )
I will hopefully be keeping my GT for a while as well. We just bought my wife a 2016 Crosstrek with the 5MT and 41,000 on the clock... she keeps asking to drive my car. I told her when it's tuned on corn she can try it:). She drives stick better than me some days (she had a 2002 bugeye for years), but I'm still apprehensive to let anyone drive it other than me. I break it enough as is... -
6mt suspected differential problems
stewdogg replied to masisi's topic in Fifth Generation Legacy (2010 - 2014 )
Sounds exactly like my center diff when it went bad. The fluid inside the diff has overheated and broken down. That’s why it gets funky after the fluid is warm, it’s too thin/ broken down at that point. Anyone who calls themselves a mechanic shouldn’t have any issues with it as it’s a pretty straight forward job. Remove driveshaft Remove transfer case cover Pull out some washers Pull center diff Replace in opposite order. You should be able to find the part around $400. https://www.subarupartwholesale.com/p/Subaru__Legacy/CENTER-DIFFERENTIAL-ASSEMBLY/49248166/38913AA230.html?partner=googlebase_adwords&kwd=&origin=pla&partnerDevice=m&userLocation=9018948&gclid=Cj0KCQiAm4TyBRDgARIsAOU75spnnDPbWHpli1rvmmeh65m1I9h42BiLLfuWl3xBZOUykGLFptk-5qQaAtT2EALw_wcB Good luck! -
Engine build w/ ej257 short block
stewdogg replied to JMA's topic in Fifth Generation Legacy (2010 - 2014 )
The baffle on the bottom of the case that the oil pan mounts on is different on our block. The guy who built my block told me that there was an extra tapped hole somewhere, but I'm not positive about that. I don't have any info on the heads and pistons. -
I understand the access to the e85 being an issue. I'm lucky enough to have a number of them close to the house and work. I suppose that's the beauty of the flex fuel as well, get it when you can. I imagine that 400wtq might have some long term issues as well. Haha, nothing lasts forever, right... Now I'm curious what other aggressive aesthetics you have in mind!

Need Cat/downpipe related advice
stewdogg replied to Ghionw's topic in Fifth Generation Legacy (2010 - 2014 )
What are your short and long term goals for the car? Are you keeping it for a while? Are you willing to blow it up and build it up again? Are you hard on the car? Building these cars can get expensive real quick. I just keep throwing money at mine. It was once my daily (for a very short period of time) and is now my garage queen summer car. -

I was having trouble finding somewhere I felt confident in purchasing from yesterday as well... I guess I'll wait to see what you end up with dudemonster. Like you said, lots of different pictures out there for the same part#... Where did you order from? -
It is not a specific AOS to the 5th gen. I followed the lead of those before me. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/iag-street-aos-install-262354.html?t=262354&highlight=aos I also contacted IAG about a AOS for the 5th gen LGT and was told that they would not support any AOS for the 5th gen. It would be cool if they did, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
