  1. comes down to an inspection--how's the bearing on the top hats? probably worn, but if not and you don't mind going back in in a couple years and changing em when they *are* worn, you can reuse. Same with the spring seat, dust cover and bump stop. if they're in good condition they can be reused, but in a couple years they may need to be replaced. considering rock auto has the dust cover and bump stops for $10-12/side, they're cheap enough just to call it a sunk cost so you can save yourself a couple hours and possibly another new set of struts a couple years down the line.
  2. yeah, i love the subtleness of it, sets it off just right without being shouty or in your face. i'm 90/10 on taping vs drilling, good to see that it's held strong for you. i've got some weak clear coat on the deck lid which is giving me second thoughts, but even if i damage the clear coat that's a whole lot better than having the 13!!! holes drilled in the trunk that subaru recommends.
  3. can you go in to a little bit of detail on the modification you had to do?
  4. just grabbed an OEM rear spoiler from a wrecked car on ebay. right color and they accepted my low as heck offer, so i'll take it. been wanting to add a spoiler since i got the car over 3 years ago, happy to have finally pulled the trigger.
  5. honestly, i'm digging what toyota's doing. i agree the camry fell a little flat, but the corolla hatch looks excellent (and would love to see a hot version of it...), the new avalon is shockingly nice, love it or hate it i love the supra, and while the 86 is a little long in the tooth, it still looks fresh and fits in with the lineup. heck, even the yaris with its grumpy wide open mouth is a cute little bugger.
  6. think that has to do with it not being fitted for a D shaped steering wheel...it's a shame, looks good top 2/3, but where it flattens out at the bottom it just creases wrong, and i don't think there's anyhting that could be done for that outside of completely remaking the cover
  7. did you actually go with the 50/35? i went with 35% all around and never had a problem in richmond. it's dark but not absurdly dark to get the police looking, if that makes sense.
  8. the model 3 is definitely interesting, and based on my driving habits(generally never more than 220 miles a day, and thats a rare occasion) it would fit quite well. the whole parking on the street thing(and apartments/parking decks without chargers at every parking spot etc) is the real issue, and what keeps a lot of people from being able to adopt electrics. interesting concept, and i'm excited to see how it progresses, but the feasibility just isn't there, which is a darn shame.
  9. if you do and want to make an extra set at a reasonable price i might be interested
  10. i'm not so far in to that club with a 2002 acura TL, but I took the leggy out this morning, and even with the same power the GT feels *so* much faster
  11. ugh i'm jealous of that stockpile. i've been trying to get in to woodworking, but getting the materials home is a PITA without a large vehicle. interested to see when that spalted maple gets busted out, that's probably my favorite looking commonish wood out there
  12. rolling the fenders--basically reshaping the inner lip of the fenders a little bit to provide more clearance for wider wheels/tires.
  13. welcome, looks like you're off to a good start. just have to say, please *please* remove that sticker from in front of your 3rd brake light, it's blocking a safety device
  14. Don't cheap out on the thermostat either. I've replaced multiple on Subarus and they never ever work. Just spend the extra $3 and get an OE replacement.
  15. University of Scranton or the penn state extension? my folks are from up there, grandpa mined coal, dad built some of the roads, so love getting to visit and see family--gives a connection to the place. definitely a unique town, but man the cold can suck it, i'm too much of a wuss to live in the mountains. and *if* you like pierogis? i don't ever want to meet anyone that doesn't.
  16. ah, yeah, universal fits always seem to be universally don't fit without a ton of work. i think picking up one of the v limited style fronts is the way to go--little more expensive, but basically guaranteed fit makes that worth it
  17. which one did you get? seems people in the past have had good results
  18. put the better part of 1500 miles on the leggy this past week. this is not what i expected when i retired her from daily driving status. ride up to philly and a ride up to scranton really racked up the miles. time to give her a bit of a rest.
  19. oh the little pink sticker and my very fake, very counterfeit STi oil cap are why the car makes 400 hp now. but yeah, i went around a couple off ramps that i normally go around, and the car felt much more planted and stable. i'm kicking myself i didn't do the sway bar sooner. game changer.
  20. oil change, front strut tower brace and 19mm rear sway bar. oh my god what a difference. pretty sure 99% of the difference is from the rear sway bar, but holy crap is the car tightened up. really highlighted the issues with the rest of the worn suspension.
  21. Added to the pile of parts to bolt on this spring, along with a 19mm rear sway bar and the full suspension rebuild i'm piecing together. did a 500 mile round trip from richmond to philly to meet nadracer and pick up his center flex STi strut tower brace and axlebacks. the car i was going to keep stock is...not going to stay stock...dammit.
  22. yeah that looks surprisingly decent. i think if you did the skirts and painted/plastidipped the rear bumper to make it look like a lip that could work
