VW Touareg Brake Swap
Notorious replied to samuel082799's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
The stock caliper mounting points would probably make those sit too close to the center of the rotor. You'd likely need something similar to the bracket used for the rear brembo swap on top of custom size 5x100 rotors that would take some trial and error. Anything is possible with fabrication skills and with enough money though. -
Are there vents under the seats?
Notorious replied to Tehnation's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Nothing attaches there. Those are the rear AC vents for the back passengers since Subaru decided a cupholder was more important instead of putting the AC vents on the center console like everyone else. Not even good cupholders at that -
In my experience, replacing the throttle body hose with a silicone unit with more flex makes intercooler installs more forgiving. You can always JB weld all the crimps on the stock intercooler, thats what I did and it ran 18psi just fine for years. Doesn't look pretty but it works.

Oil Pressure Question.
Notorious replied to ekwilson08's topic in Engine Rebuild Threads (Engines Only)
What gauge are you using? Mechanical or electric? And where was it tapped and where was it grounded? A bad ground on an electrical gauge can cause readings to be off. -
Mishimoto or Avo top mount intercooler?
Notorious replied to Scoobiidoo's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Avo has better build quality in my opinion. Mishimoto's QC has really fallen off recently. -

They’re called taillight “garnishes” I guess, haha. They came with my JDM tails and I guess they must be pretty rare since I haven’t found another set except a few for the wagons. I love the little JDM touches I see on people’s builds because it takes some sort of awareness to recognize those things that a casual car guy wouldn’t recognize. The first thing people recognize about my car is the mismatched wheels now instead of the rice rocket wing. -

I’ve been trying to get rid of it for over a year. It was very hard to source a wingless SWP trunk with the GT badges intact and in good shape on top of that. This trunk was pristine, no scratches or rust. Had to pay $380 total to ship this one across the country though. -

36J is actually Arctic White Pearl that only the JDM Subarus had. But like you said, very close to each other and 36J is cooler in the sunlight. Aspen White has no pearl in it and is a different paint code (51E). USDM Subarus in white came as Aspen White, Satin White Pearl, and now Crystal White Pearl. All of them are great though, I just wanted to make a technical correction. Anyways, here’s some recent pics of the sedan. -
Group N Motor mounts?
Notorious replied to Jolbaru_LGT's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Different part numbers but same part I believe. I didn't actually install them myself since I had it in the shop for other things at the same time so I can't confirm. -
Uh, not sure if kzr750 is confused with the turbo-DP gasket but you will need to remove the up pipe and the down pipe to replace the UP-turbo gasket... There is no way to get to the nuts that hold the up pipe to the turbo without removing the down pipe first. First time I did this, it took me about 2 hours and most of that was waiting for PB blaster to soak and I plus also didn't use an impact. Grimmspeed gaskets are well worth it but you'll want the whole shebang of exhaust gaskets. Header gaskets (if you choose to remove the headers for more clearance to remove the up-pipe, much more difficult if you skip this step) Up-pipe to turbo Down-pipe to turbo Down-pipe to mid-pipe I use Grimmspeed gaskets every time I have to do this but you don't necessarily have to. Like I said earlier, took me two hours and I was fairly inexperienced at the time. It was back when I wanted to replace the catted up-pipe when I bought the car for precautionary reasons.

Nothing much today. Oil changed with 6 quarts of Rotella T6 (Moroso pan from rhino6303) and Purolator Boss oil filter with their air filter as well. First time using the Fumoto valve as well. I tried timing myself to see how fast I could get it all done but my phone died. Probably took like 20 minutes max and most of that was waiting for the oil to drain.

I recommend H&R’s over Eibach, personally. I ran them with the same struts. I sold them to GEE-OTTO if he wants to chime in.

I have a voltage gauge, accessory lighting switch, and 2 USB ports on mine. I'll grab a picture tomorrow.

09 oem headlight bowl getting old?
Notorious replied to markc0220k's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
What can you really expect since these aren't made for HID temperatures? I'm more surprised they lasted 10 years. The JDM bowls are made of a slightly different material. -

You might find better suitors to the AUSDM market in Australia -
Installed the 15+ STI steering rack along with the 08STI steering linkage, Cusco brace, and Whiteline steering rack bushings. I need to get an alignment but test drive showed dramatic improvement. Much firmer turning pressure required but far more direct. No complaints except that the location for the steering rack hard lines are in a very inconvenient spot. Shouldn’t have been that hard to get those things off...

I agree with you. But it’s hard to deny the quality compared to other brands. It’s probably overkill on my build but also KillerB rarely has 15% off sales. Used headers with the ceramic coating have gone for more. I have the cash saved up for a 6-speed swap but may opt for the headers and flex fuel conversion instead of my original plan to commit to E85 completely.
