  1. Yes, I went the expensive route trying to eliminate the front end squeak last summer. Turned out 30 minutes of my time and some lube was all that was needed. Will have to do the rears once spring comes.
  2. I actually have a pair of front springs in my basement. Already removed from the struts.
  3. I have my 05 GT headlights with HID kit up for sale.
  4. That's the hope. Will try a new amp first and go from there. I don't really notice any other electrical gremlins, but putting in new grounding wires can't hurt.
  5. I checked subaruonlineparts.com and the amplifier is about $50 US. Plus shipping of course. I have already spent time splicing in new wire. The garage said the electrical signal is all good. I figure is a new antenna amp doesn't fix it, then the wiring would be next. With the front wipers affecting the radio signal as well, seems like the engine bay grounds would be a logical next step. And I would like a full double din HU with android auto so that might also make it on the list since I got some $$ back for my old cats.
  6. For s***s and giggles I looked up if an antenna amplifier is available from Subaru. Turns out they are. I think I will try ordering one, plus the wiring harness that connects to the wiring to the front of the car. Then get a grounding kit in the spring and replace the ones in the engine bay. Hopefully that will cure this ridiculous issue.
  7. I replaced the entire wire loom a couple years ago. Took an hour or so to replace. Still going strong! Hopefully will last the 13 years or so the first one did. Would any of the ground wires running through the right side affect the grounding on the left side? Long shot, trying to remedy a weird antenna problem.
  8. Well, since it was a new noise it made my hair stand on end. Turns out my suspicion was correct, it was due to the exhaust clamp. After having the flanges welded, the noise is gone. Actually, the exhaust is MUCH quieter on deceleration overall now. Clamp must never have been tight enough from the beginning. But I tightened it to the point where parts of the clamp were beginning to deform, so, glad it's welded and permanent. Thanks for the input!
  9. Thanks. I have a wagon, and right now have a single 10" in a large enclosure that fits in that same area. It'd be nice to gain that extra space back. I've noticed no one seems to make something similar for the driver side, which would be ideal to me. 2 8" subs would do nicely.
  10. 05 LGT wagon 5MT I was taking my car over to the garage for a different issue, and noticed an odd sound when decelerating/coasting. Seems to appear in any gear (only tried in 4th, 3rd and 2nd). When accelerating or steady throttle, no noise. Only happens when completely off throttle with the transmission in gear - clutch engaged. It's a combination of a lower pitched groan and rattle. Hoping it's not a clutch thing, just replaced a few years ago, and maybe put on 20k kms since. Not sure it makes a difference but the other issue I was taking the car in was to have the flanges welded together on my nameless mid to y pipe as the clamp decided to disintegrate on Friday. The bolt that tightens/pinches it decided to go on permanent vacation, and I was able to rig something together to get it back on. Maybe that is the cause? Might be the rattling sound......I will be able to check when I pick up the car later. Open to suggestions.
  11. Are those for stock sub? What size if aftermarket? Wagon/sedan? I'd like to add a second sub on the driver side if this would work.
  12. It seems to me to be a grounding issue since when the amplifier is not attached to the hatch the signals are stronger. As soon as the amp makes contact the signal gets weaker. I found it odd that the front wipers actuating caused the signal to fluctuate as well. Might be a ground somewhere in the engine bay that is causing it since the rear electrics checked out at the garage. Weird problem.
  13. I used acetone to remove paint from plastic models. Get the paint off with it and wash thoroughly, should be okay. Though test in an inconspicuous area first. Mineral spirits might work well too.
  14. I replaced the entire wire "assembly" for the right side - rear wiper, lights etc. All of those things work 100%. The antenna passes through on the left side. Only 3 wires, one is the coax cable for the antenna itself. Spliced in on the other two. Mechanic tested and getting correct power and ground, so......
  15. There is probably one in the exhaust sound clips thread.....
  16. You can use the H&R sedan springs in a wagon, just need a "saggy butt spacer". I personally have Koni adjustables with Swift wagon springs. Coilovers would give you more adjustability for ride and height. That will be my next suspension change.
  17. I looked back at when I ordered one and yes, more than I remembered. I ended up cancelling that order (back ordered and date kept moving further and further away) and getting Nameless mid-pipe and fujitsubo mufflers.
  18. I previously had a 2006 auto 2.5 wagon, and I ran my wire through the clutch grommet. SUPER easy. Imagine my surprise when I got a manual 2005 GT! But yes, once you pull back the liner the grommet is pretty much staring you in the face. And it passes into the cabin fairly high in the footwell so it's easy to route under the dash or down under the carpet along the door. Same for if you have an auto, that one comes right out by the pedals, super easy to route from there.
  19. For the sway bar, I ground off part of the end to make sure there was clearance as mine was pretty close to the tie rods as well.
