  1. annoyed. checked oil and it was low. Added a quart and couple days later the level went down to 1/2 between marks on dipstik. upon inspection oil is leaking from passenger side of engine about half way up. leaking down covering the right driveshaft in oil and the exhaust manifold, which would be the burning smell i had noticed. taking it in on wednesday. never had this issue until they replaced rear main seal and cvt gasket due to cvt leaking transmission fluid. i believe transmission fluid is leaking as well. i'm just annoyed. any insight or anyone experience somethimg similar? i wish the cvt had a disptik. argh.
  2. While sitting at a stop light, I have noticed that my Legacy has alot of visible vapor or exhaust. Cars around me seem to have none, while i'm just puffing away...? I'm a little paranoid after all the problems I had with my 4th gen. My oil level is fine, hasn't gone down. Honestly I haven't checked my coolant yet... Anyways, has anyone else noticed their car producing more than other cars around you? Or have you heard of anyone having a headgasket problem with the 6th gen? Have a good day..
  3. So, I have learned to deal with issues, not personal one's car related.. The CVT is another story. A bit of history. : 2015 3.6 R Legacy. Rear diff replaced at 21k. Whole lotta stuff between 25k and the now 72k mileage. More specifically CVT fluid leak, I noticed around 60k. -Was diagnosed as leaking from the rear main seal, etc. Warranty work was done at Wakefield Subaru in Massachusetts. They basically removed the CVT and put it back in with new seals, etc. Of course the shift linkage was messed up, always fun having to convince someone that it's not shifting right, click click. Changed my oil 2 weeks ago and noticed the CVT is leaking again from the same place. I'm concerned with the level of fluid moving forward.. And if replacement of the CVT is a better route than turning my car into a Mr. Potato head.
  4. **Don't forget you have both a front and rear differental and both fluids need to be changed.
  5. The back of the pan is wet, yes. But it is also leaking from higher up towards the front of the car.. It doesnt appear that the 2 leaks are related. Yes the pan is leaking around half of it.. But it is leaking from.higher up and that side of the pan is bone dry?

  7. I guess I don't have the most confidence in the dealership. As part of this cleaning and inspection and replacement... They would change the fluid, correct? Certainly replace fluid that has been lost to date and the fluid that will come out during the repair.. If I have to request a fluid change- thats messed up. It also looks like i'm leaking from 2 different places. I took pictures but haven't had the best luck posting them on here will try again.
  8. Finally took car into Subaru for diagnosis. They said my CVT is weeping? And they were gonna replace some gasket under warranty? On the printout all it says is: Correction: resched for trans leaks SAS? Any clue what that means? I was under the assumption they just replaced the wholenCVT? and if they plan on doing gaskets are they going to change the fluid inside? Any insight is appreciated.
  9. Does it only do it when your wife is in the passenger seat? lol...
  10. When my rear diff was replaced the dealership had my car for 3 months. I hope replacement of the CVT is a faster process... I also can't help but wonder what is going to be compromised during such replacement..?
  11. When i crawled under the car to change my oil today.. I noticed the bottom of the CVT has oil around the back half of the gasket. And appears to be leaking from in front of the CVT as well. I'm beside myself. This is the first time I have noticed any fluid in the area. I'm making an appt tomorrow at Subaru. My rear diff has already been replaced. I'm not sure what the warranty is on the CVT, but I do have the Gold plus warranty extension and I remember getting paperwork in the mail about known CVT issues.. Does anyone have insight into this?
  12. That price for just the pads and no resurfacing of the rotors? I don't understand how they came to that #. -biggest thing with the real calipers is to get the right tool to turn the caliper back into it's housing. It's tricky because you start off with turning the caliper piston counter clockwise until it stops, then you push it in until it bottoms out in the chamber. And don't put any lubricant on the caliper piston that comes in contact with the inner pad.
  13. Trunk release button fell inside? Seemed to snap off and fall inside behind the panel. Any idea how to access it? From under neath? Remove some panel.. Hopefully not the whole dash.
  14. The time has come to see and feel it in person. I have goosebumps/./
  15. Wow. IMPO you calling him out for a simple statement of his experience prior to his upgrades is.... I don't believe in labeling or putting people into boxes. The great part about this forum is being able to speak our minds without the PC police repremanding anyone. I have been called stupid and shamed on this forum. What a person posts matters, isn't that why the forum is here for? My 3.6R isn't my first Subaru and we have at least 10 in my family. I have driven every generation of the Legacy including the 2nd Gen GT, 3rd Gen GT, rare 5th Gen GT... Plan on test driving the new XT or whatever they badge it 7th Gen. Anyways, the handling on the car is scary and more attention has been paid in the new generation. I hope nobody has been seriously hurt by stability issues with this car.
  16. Oh snap! Sounds to me like you need to put your foot down and get SOA in your phonebook. I'm on a first name basis with them. =/ So, what is your trim level and build date? This forum is a great resource for help and information you might not otherwise find out about your legacy. My Legacy 3.6R and I both have had "issues", not a typo. Anyone who has read my posts would agree.
  17. Going from a Merk to a Legacy Gen 6? There is no comparison. It is going to feel like a shopping cart on the highway.. Going faster doesn't make it better, there is a learning curve. Unfortunately it's learning to accept that the car does what it wants. LOL>
  18. Awesome car. Good luck with it and reliability. I test drove one and the headlight vibrated over every bump drove me NUTS. -When the salesperson said, we can have them look at that, I was all set. Cool how the headlights turn with the wheel.. Please let us know how it holds up in winter driving/ traction. If you live in a cold climate, I didn't actually take note of your location. -Cheers
  19. The compressor was replaced 6/2017. And the belt squal while compressor was running stayed almost the same after replacement. You would think they would have replaced the belt at the same time, but nope. I waited about 2 years before replacing the belt on my own..
  20. Funny. I mentioned to TSB before I had replaced the belt. I got the deer in headlights look. Rather than belittle them or waste my time, I bought a belt from the parts department and did it myself. And yes, the belt material was drastically different in construction compared to the original one on the car.. Not different from wear or age, the actual materail was different.
