I noticed my engine cover 3.6R was flopping around, figure it must have been damaged during last repair (coil replacements). The plastic clip was still in the rubber mount, so i'm gonna try and jbweld it back in place... I was going to put it back on this morning and to my surprise I think I have a animal nest of sorts on top of the intake manifold... I assume that would be the only way 2 face masks and a shredded dog poop back would have got packed in that area ? I would suggest taking your engine cover off and checking for any squatters.

As the weather is getting colder outside, I have noticed my exhaust in my side mirrors more than usual or seemingly more than the cars around me.... I haven't noticed the car overheating at all... But, last week I did get a low oil level warning light.. It was the first time I had that light come on, I'm about 1,500 miles past due for an oil change... I added about 3/4 quart to bring it back up to the full mark... I also remember adding a 1/2 quart about 2 months ago... I haven't checked my coolant level... A bit of recent work history... 4 months ago, passenger balljoint was replaced along with sway bar and end link bushings.. 3 days after that repair, car was mis-firing horribly with no check engine or codes.. Took it back and they had thought it was an exhaust valve issue and ended up replacing all 6 coils again.. This would be the 3rd time the coils have been replaced. I dunno after my 4th gen blew up I get worried when I see clouds of exhaust in my mirrors... Any thoughts?

Spotted this Legacy and stopped and talked to the owner.. He used a kit specifically made to lift the legacy like the outback... Wasn't able to get the name of the kit or manufacturer due to honking from cars as we blocked traffic.. =/ Thoughts?/ I like the way it looks, it would look better with some mods to the bumpers tho-

There is a 2007 Gen 4 H6 3.0 Legacy Outback Sedan LL Bean edition for sale near me.. It has 125k miles on it... Any thoughts on it/? The Outback sedans are rare and I never see them.. Being that it is the H6 I didn't immediately think, oh great.. It's gonna blow up with the infamous head gasket issues the 2.5 non GT had.. Something about it using conventional oil and non turbo with a REAL transmission, has me considering it... Bad idea?

Rumbling/vibration with light throttle
Beamercub replied to miltoney's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
Question: Why did you get the 18'? Did something happen to the 17' ? As for suggestions on the sound, I would lean more towards the engine, or possible a motor mount? You have owned basically the same car, it would be an insult to suggest it could be something you would clearly be able to diagnose yourself.. -
When these Subaru batteries die, they are literally dead! Was annoyed, felt the need to post.

Alot of comments about the rear sway bar setup... I'm starting to think the gen 6 front end is just strange. Hardly anything is available for it.. The H6 is literally the same from the gen 5 , well with the deleted powersteering pump and pully, reservoir, etc... Heck the bracket for the PS pump is still on the engine... I really wish the front end could be tightened up.. Some, not all of them have stability issues with the DEAD on center while at highway speeds... My most recent work done has been.... : Drivers side ball joint and now sway bar end links and bushings... anyone have luck with a strut tower brace?

Getting a clunking sound going over bumps, took tires off to inspect and to my surprise, i can pull my sway bar about an inch both directions from the drivers side, no movement from the passenger side??! I have the gold plus unlimited 10yr 100k warranty, I'm expecting any bushings to be covered. I had upgraded the Rear sway bar and thought what about doing the front sway bar. I'm not finding any options for the sixth generation front sway bar or endlinks? I'm also thinking about my issues with lane wandering and the dead spot when on center for handling... If my sway bar is able to slide an inch off center in both directions.... Mis-diagnosed as me being crazy?> Also my endlinks when unloaded are completely movable extending the rubber boots??! I want a sway bar and endlinks with no movement at all... Various options are available for the STI, but nothing else?

Retro-fit power steering into 3.6 R ?
Beamercub replied to Beamercub's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
I love my current tire setup. Off hand I don't remember the name of them, lol. I should have posted something about them at some point if you want to go thru my post.. -
It was 102f outside. I was waiting in the car with a/c running and idling, and both eyesight and blindspot disabled along with CHECK ENGINE light.. I restarted car and got the same warning lights, car seemed to run fine, no misfires. I happend to have my OB2 reader in the car.. After connecting, 2 DTC codes; 0072/ P0072. After clearing the codes, warning lights went off.. I restarted no warning lights, I restarted again and no warning lights and no codes after running scan again. My car is black and it seems the temp is displayed 5-10 degrees warmer.. I had thought, the temp sensor got too hot and threw a code?

Retro-fit power steering into 3.6 R ?
Beamercub replied to Beamercub's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
My mistake, I would think it could be possible to replace the electric power steering and retro fit the hydraulic setup that carried over from the 5th generation 3.6R? And if I remember correctly eyesight first became available on the 5th generation 3.6R 2013-2014. I don't know Eyesight was also on the 2.5 5th Generation -
You literally made my day! I haven't smiled like this in YEARS! I'm not alone.. I only wish I jumped ship as you did. As for the original OP with the question about buying a loaner car.. No dealership would ever use a 3.6 R as a loaner vehicle. It's a lie. It was more than likely a demo car that a sales person drove. Don't buy it.

Rough idle question 2018 3.6R
Beamercub replied to hershizzle's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
Food for thought... You mentioned buying the car with 50k miles on it.. Past the factory warranty... I would be questioning if the previous owner had leased the car and went over the allocated mileage.. Or, if they bought it and didn't purchase the extended warranty within the allowed time frame.. From what you replaced already, makes me think it was not a certified vehicle. The CVT is covered either way, but knowing a bit of history could paint a clearer picture. What you described happening is not normal and shouldn't happen , possibly a motor mount? Was the vehicle doing the symptom before replacing all that stuff? -

**flashing brake warning light**
Beamercub replied to Beamercub's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
It was such a weird thing to happen, I didn't even think to run the codes, out of curiosity I'll loop back with the codes if any come up. I keep a scan tool in the car. The flashing BRAKE light after turning the car off? I'm a big fan of eyesight, i'm not a fan of the push button emergency brake.. A lever connected to something mechanical , novel idea.. -
I've mentioned this before.. While visiting down-unda I had a rental Liberty ( Legacy ) in the U.S. The rear head rests are so much better. Instead of looking like rabbit ears they are low profile and curve downward similar to the way the middle head rest is on U.S. models... I don't know if this is true on the JDM models or if it's just on the Liberty spec models.. I also noted that the leather isn't perforated it is smooth similar to the leather in the 4th gen legacy..

Yesterday, I got in and started the car.. Put it in reverse and while depressing the accelerator I heard a growl noise as the car didn't move. Thinking that it was odd, I put it in drive and same thing growl and car didn't move while pressing gas pedal !? At this point I noticed the BRAKE warning lamp was flashing? I checked the parking brake and it wasn't on? AGain I tried moving in reverse and nothing! At this point I'm thinking FML... I put it in park and turned it off.. The BRAKE warning light was still flashing with the car off!! Parking brake was not on either! Restarted the car and turned it off then back on again and while light BRAKE light was still flashing I set the parking brake and turned the car off.. Turned it back on again and no BRAKE warning light, but also the parking brake wasn't set, which it should have been because I had set it when I turned the car off? While the car was running I set and released the parking brake a couple times, which worked.. With the parking brake off I cycled the car again and had no BRAKE warning light and was able to drive away..? While driving i wasn't sure if the brakes were dragging or if it was just in my mind, lol.. I drove about 50 miles yesterday and it didn't happen again. Curious if anyone else has had something similar happen to them? **Nothing was in front of the car either , as if eyesight had engaged.. ??

Rough idle question 2018 3.6R
Beamercub replied to hershizzle's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
No warranty? Uh-oh. -
They were all replaced pro-actively.. It was cylinder 5, then #2 and they just replaced them all. It seems #5 is the issue for most 3.6R engines.
