  1. Update: I got the car back yesterday 3/20. It turned out to be exactly what I knew it to be. They replaced coil #on cylinder 5 and the spark plug on #5. I'm happy with how quickly it was handled. Apparently the problem with #5 on the 3.6 is very common. I would almost suggest replacing the coil on #5 every spring, going from the cold northeast weather to warmer wet weather triggers the fault. The method of diagnosis seems odd to me. They swapped # 2-4-6 for #1-3-5 to verify the coil was defective. Along with removing the valve cover on the drivers side. What about the valve cover gasket and the other coils that were disturbed? *If it's not broke don't fix it?
  2. Update: Just got a call from the service dept. They need the car overnight to try and figure out what the problem is. I asked if they had any idea what the problem could be with the code p0355.... They think it might be carbon buildup and they need to take the valve cover off to investigate. Along with trying to sell the 90k service to me. -Is it just me or is something not right here?
  3. UPDATE: CHECK ENGINE light is on and flashing now. Scanned and got code : P0355. I am beyond annoyed at this point. Mileage 87k. With all the issues I have had with this car, no way I can keep it past 100k.
  4. Started the car up last night and I noticed the eyesight was off, then I noticed the CHECK ENGINE light was on along with lane departure being off. I scanned for codes and got P0355. Car was running fine. Drove 10 miles and it started mis-firing really bad. It was 3a.m. and I had no choice but to drive it the 10 miles home on the highway. CHECK ENGINE light was flashing at idle, once I got it up to 55-60mph CHECK ENGINE light stopped flashing and was running ok. As soon as I had to go up an incline it started mis-firing really bad again.. I took it easy and made it home. It smells like something is burning an electrical buring smell in the cabin.. I assume it's an ignition coil or something. This will be the second time this has happend. Last time was around 50k and all 6 coils were replaced. With covid and today being a friday, who knows how long i'm going to be without a car. I'm having a really hard time rationalizing with myself that I can keep this car past 100k. I'll circle back once it gets diagnosed.
  5. Are there any simple fixes..? I have no clue about the headlights on this car. Actually the only thing I know is that they aren't H4 bulbs. LoL.
  6. I haven't had any windshield problems, and haven't heard of any TSB's relating to windshield issues.. Was a complete surprise to me.
  7. Update: The problem went away on it's own. Ironically it has been acting up again with a sputter more than a mis-fire... I am going to try cleaning the MAF and I picked up a EGR valve back in september, gonna replace that as well.. Will make sure to update sooner than 4 months
  8. I have been warming my car up on cold days and I would very much like the ability to lock the doors while it is running.. I have tried to lock the doors, but have been unable to because I have the push start button option. I have even tried leaving one fob in the car and locking the doors with the other fob i have. Does anyone know of a trick to lock the doors while warming the car up? One thing I haven't tried is leaving the fob in the car and locking the door with the little key inside the fob.. I know there is a actual key hole on the hidden on the drivers side door under the handle, just like there is an actual key hole on the trunk lid... I assume the only other option would be to install a remote start? What is to stop someone from just driving the car away without the fob if it's running?
  9. I miss my 06' Legacy. I rarely see them anymore. Mass here as well.. I'm in Boston, and a car that lives in my area is a 05'-06' Outback Sedan... I wish the 6th gen came in that option.
  10. Up until yesterday, the what if my Timing.... Maintenance interval? Well that would depend on it being a Belt or Chain??? I drive a 2015 Legacy 3.6 R. I'm going to educate myself on the subject now.. I'm curious why timing has never been on my radar before. Is it that Subaru's are wound up like a fine watch? -Cheers.
  11. HTCVT or whatever its called has been repaired twice with my car so far. 2015 3.6R. I noticed the first leak while doing an oil change, brought it in and they separated the engine and (tranny) replaced the leaking seal and sent me on my way. 3k miles later when I went to change my oil I noticed the leak again and thought i was loosing my mind. Brought it back and was then informed that there was a TSB on the replacement gasket they installed. It was bad. So, they separated them again and replaced the same seal. For those of you who don't know, it is a very involved process to separate 2 components that are not supposed to be separated. i.e, the exhaust has to be removed, the subframe dropped, etc, etc. You would think they would offer an oil change or to do a tranny fluid exchange, right? Nope. They literally just fill the tranny back up and done. I'm at 83k miles and I'm planning on not seeing 90k. Between the handling with the dead spot on center while highway driving and unknown tranny reliability... Not to mention a rough idle that appears to be (normal).. I love Subaru, but as Kenny Rogers would put it... - Know when to fold em' and walk away..
  12. Been feeling a slightly rough idle and stumble on acceleration... Hates to cruise between 45-55mph. Anything faster and I don't notice the stumble. Not quite a misfire... I'm more annoyed than anything. I've already had the engine and tranny cracked open twice. First time was to fix a leaking rear main seal. Second time was to repair the same thing again because they used a defective seal as a replacement. I change my own oil and i'm loosing about a quart between changes. The oil loss is a newer thing i'm noticing. Current mileage is 83k. Any ideas? Gonna put the scanner on it and see if any codes are being thrown.. It's just so frustrating, especially because i noticed the stumble 1/2 on my way to NJ from MA.. And drove back thinking I would get that def misfire and get a check engine light.. ARGH. spark plugs and all 6 coils were replaced at 60k,.
  13. Hit a HUGE pothole back in june. Haven't been driving much, but when i do it is annoying going 50+ on the highway. No, I haven't had the wheels balanced since, prolly should do that first.. But, i'm sure something is dented with the force I hit the pothole.. A quarter that was on the passenger side floor hit my friend in the face!
  14. I have had a couple loaner cars recently and the new 7th Generation seems smaller to me? Not that it is much shorter in length, I noticed a huge difference in the width of the car. I would compare it to the forrester? Overall the new design didn't impress me and actually annoyed me with most settings being in the center display. Impossible to use while driving. I have the 3.6 R so performance is no comparison. I wouldn't expect the turbo version to be any better either. The ride is very stiff, probally compensating for body roll in the 6th Gen.
  15. I hit a huge pothole @ the interchange of 90 West and 145 North to Worcester, MA. If I had been going highway speed it would have been a blowout. I had slowed to take the exit and BAM! Passenger front.. Can feel a thud and shudder in wheel afterwards.. Visually, I can see the rim has a dent in it making it out of round.. I could repair, but thinking I just want to replace with a new rim for my car. (2015 3.6 R Limited) Does anyone have an idea where to get a replacement rim?
  16. Thank you everybody that replied with their tires.. I ended up going with a newer tire that was just made available in this country. They are VREDESTEIN QUATRAC PRO XL and I opted for the 225/45/18. So far I love the tires~! Going down to 45 helps with the wandering at dead center. Besides the 3 snowflake rating on A/S, these tires are non-directional which mattered to me because being able to rotate them properly I expect them to last longer than directional tires. -cheers
  17. I need new tires. So many decisions.. I would rather make a good decision my first time round. Please share if you have replaced the stock rubber and love the decision you made... I used snow tires this past winter and loved them so much, I can't decide to get All season or dedicated summer tires? And swap out to the winters when it's time? Is there a tire that helps with the loose on center feel ? Has anyone put a different sized tire? I had thought maybe going with a 225/45/18 would help by having a smaller sidewall and get rid of some of the mushy-ness.. Any insight would be helpful. Hope to make a decision today as I need to get these snow tires off the car..

  19. Here is the link for the lifted Legacy I remember seeing.. https://www.wilsonvillesubaru.com/our-newest-custom-subaru-a-lifted-legacy/
  20. Hey Nick, Someone had posted a link to a dealership that had "lifted" a Legacy 4dr. It looked pretty slick, they used an Outback front bumper cover to get the bigger fog lights. It appeared that they didn't run into any fender issues.. If I remember correctly they did the rocker panels as well and installed an oversized basket type roof rack. The underpinnings aren't that different and can be done easily. I used to love seeing the Legacy Outback and the 3.0 4th gen that used be around. The problem area ends up being the rear bumper cover, how to clean it up while getting a rugged look.. I'll try to find a pic of the car i'm talking about... - cheers:cool:
  21. "just a bit more difficult" LOL. Its a P I T A to get on.
