  1. I know you got this, just here to help if you need it. I did post a few photos in my build log & in what did you do to your 4th gen. Learning how NOT to do it is an important step, just its always different as to when we learn it. But been there many many times. Wife let me sand & prep the parts in the house but painting had to be done outside. Even with a venting fan, unless you plan on leaving your house open for days. Learned that one the hard way too, lol.
  2. A few pics of the rattle can job I did this weekend. I also bought a roof rack for the PA trip, just over a month away.
  3. My birthday came and brought some nice weather for me this weekend, so with consecutive +15 degree, and only a light shower in the forecast I was able to get some good headway on some of the cosmetic projects that have been held up due to it being too cold or raining for weeks on end up here. After spending most of the weekend doing yard work. Raking up branches, twigs & pine cones that had fallen all winter which only allowed me to be able to mow the lawn and trim the edges. More importantly I was finally able to address the biggest eye sores in my backyard which was 10 random holes my dog had dug out there. As well as fill in what was left from 12x12 concreate pad that we had removed last fall. After multiple trips to Lowes, moving 22 bags of lawn soil from the legacy to the backyard as well as spreading it out and seeding the whole back yard. My lower back was screaming bloody murder by yesterday evening, lol. But with all of that done I was finally able to rattle can paint a few parts. Decided to sand the front bumper of all of the stone chips as well as touch up the rear bumper and a few other spots that need attention. I still need to clear coat all of the parts, but that will only happen after I have paint down on everything that needs it. Quick test fit to see how far off the paint is and it looks pretty damn good for being a rattle canned backyard paint job. Also did an oil change. Will probably do the spark plugs next weekend as well as the rear diff & transmission fluid flush. Hopefully my rear rotors come in so I can swap on the new rear breaks and paint the rear calipers.
  4. Sure bud, happy to come spray them for you. But its a learning processes, you have to make mistakes so you can get better. I'm going to post some photos and I am pleasantly surprised at how much better my spray painting has gotten.
  5. I was there a couple of years ago and loved it out there. Rented a car in Las Vegas, drove to utah to sleep in one of those glamping tents, then drove out to see the grand canyon spent a few days out there, and then drove back to las Vegas before flying home. Back on topic, weather was finally nice enough to get some paint on the a few parts, will be clear coating them over the next couple of days. I also started sanding the front bumper as well as a few smaller spots on the rear bumper and fender. Will be applying filler to the front and rear bumper today, and hopefully spraying some paint as early as tomorrow since we will have a few very nice days this week.
  6. Great build, subscribed. Also do you have a link to where you purchased the ceramic coating?
  7. Nice setup, let us know when you get it tuned and post a pic of your car.
  8. @KZJonny I know what you mean, I was really trying to avoid working in the rain, but with my daughter being home sick today and me not needing to drive until the following morning. I would have been a fool to pass up having a whole day of having the car down without it affecting the family. So I worked through the rain today but only after putting up a canopy to keep myself dry. The 8° the weather network claimed it would be today seemed much colder too. But I have been putting off getting a few things done so decided to tackle the front pads/rotors and made an attempt at painting the calipers which wasn't the smartest thing to do in this weather. It meant sanding down the calipers to get all of the dust, rust and road dirt off. Started on the driver side by using a wire wheel attached to my drill, I should have sanded it with some sand paper before painting it, but it was cold so it's not my best work. After that I hit it with a few coats of high heat red caliper paint, I do have some high heat clear but I'm still iffy about the colour. I had ordered a darker red with some silver sparkle but that hasn't come in yet so if the current red doesn't grow on me when we finally get warm weather I'll repaint the fronts when I do the rear pads & rotors. Don't mind the over spray I cleaned most of it up. Got everything buttoned up and torqued down, so moved onto the passenger side. While I was here I needed to replace an endlink bushing. I run kartboy endlinks which means you only need to replace the bushing and not the whole endlink. I will say right away the pedal feel is a night and day difference any soft or squishy feeling I had in the break pedal is gone at least that how it felt parked, won't be driving the car until tomorrow, hopefully allowing the paint to cure overnight.
  9. If you got your tune prior to the E P A crap yes you are fine, but if you didn't you are now SOL. Cobb & ECUtek are owned by the same parent company and somewhere around the beginning of the month ECUtek released a statement that they were also going to be in line with what Cobb has done. With all that being said if you have Airpump deletes, EGR deletes, TGV deletes or Cat Deletes you can still be tuned with cobb or ECUtek but you will have a CEL on your dash for everything you delete. So far only options available for you are Open source, or standalone, which sucks for anyone that doesn't live in the US.
  10. Yeah I've been taking a few pics when I get the chance, and will have a few more pics once I get closer to finishing a few more of those things on my to do list, just weather sucks for the next two weeks nothing but rain.
  11. So with the PA Meet a little over 2 months away I was able to get a few things done. Replace the defective Denso O2. Installed a Damd D shaped wheel with 08-09 steering wheel controls, moved the cruise from the stalk on the 07 wheel to the buttons on the steering wheel. Finished adjusting the carbon ebrake handle and install it. I will say I broke one clock spring during the process and had to reset the steering angle sensor(SAS). The last car I did the swap on didn't have VDC so less to keep in mind when swapping steering wheels. Now after having the wheel off so many times trying to adjust the SAS & center the clockspring its a walk in the park, but it was a pain in my butt for a whole week. Swapped on 3 of 4 new to me rust free colour matched doors, the 4th has some dings in the side moldings so I will be fixing those and then installing that door. I will install the hood when I can get an extra set of hands. Will also be adding a duckbill to the trunk lid and then it will get installed as well. I have prepped, sanded and primed the spats, stakes, front lip & duckbill, but hasn't been warm enough to paint yet. Picked up some new DBA 4000 rotors and Hawk pads, waiting on caliper paint to arrive before swapping on the new brakes, I will replace 1 Kartboy endlink bushing while I'm under there. Ordered a replacement exhaust coupler but it has been on back order for a few months. Might order it from somewhere else. I still need to pick up transmission/diff fluid but I already have some oil & filter since I was due for an oil change now. Not sure if I will have time to touch up some of the rust spots on the car or repaint the front bumper but if I get time I will do it. Last thing would be to re-tint the windows but I might not get to that before the meet. Will definitely come back and edit this and add a few pics, so consider this a place holder.
  12. Right now around 40k miles on it give or take 5k, it was one of the first upgrades to my car, as I put it in back when I was running a JMP VF52 on the stock motor.
  13. I have been using the DW300C without any issues so far. Not sure if you have yours hardwired, but that might shorten the life of the pump.
  14. Haha, I was about to say you did go for a ride in a car with them on, and then I remembered I'm still on my winter wheels and tires, lol.
  15. So back and forth with this steering wheel nightmare, I have pulled the wheel off probably 4x just this week. I think I lined up the steering angle sensor with the clockspring correctly finally. Will try to have the VDC light cleared again today otherwise I will be in search of another Steering angle sensor, the one I have for an 08-09 doesn't fit at all so need to find an 06-07 one. Finally installed my carbon fiber ebrake handle. so outside of the driver side foot well cover & the 1 trim piece by my stereo my interior is nearly all together. This PA meet really motivated me to get my but in gear and get the little things done.
  16. So sorry to hear about your dog Infosecdad. Forgot to swap the door lock when I put on the doors. Spent way too much time trying to take the lock out of the new door with out taking out the glass, motor and tracks. Finally installed my damd wheel and wired up the 09 steering wheel and cruise buttons. Not sure why I didn't do this sooner..... But I may have messed up my clock spring since the vdc light is staying on. So if anyone has a clock spring from an 07 with vdc I will take it off your hands
  17. Finally got around to addressing my issue with my swc after installing the JDM double din years ago. Also swapped in 3 new to me colour matched doors. The 4th has some dents in the side moulding that I would like to fix before putting that door on. Panels and speakers needed to be swapped over which was a royal pity. Finished up with an interior vacuum/wipe down and wash.
  18. Following, and KZJonny I don't know anything about building a garage but happy to come help and give you a hand if needed.
  19. Had a problem where my AF started jumping all over the place a few days ago, thought it was my MAF since I had replaced the O2 at the end of Jan. So replaced the MAF and it got much better at idle, but would still bounce around at light/partial throttle. So I believe I had a dying MAF that killed my 2 month old O2 sensor. Contacted Amazon & Denso, and neither will warranty it. Denso says Amazon isn't an authorized seller for Denso, and Amazon is saying to contact denso since it is over the 30 return period. Ordered a new one from Rockauto, which hopefully fixes my issue. Coles notes don't order sensors from Amazon, let my first and last time be all you need to know about it. In preparation for this PA meet, I started sanding, filling, and priming the spats, stakes, duckbill & JDM optional front lip. Not sure if you can see how bad the scratches were in the front lip but they were pretty deep. I have about 10hrs into these parts right now, and I will probably have a few more into them since I found a couple of spots that need addressing after laying down the primer. Everything will be sprayed with a rattle can so not looking for show quality but if I can get it looking good from 2-5ft away I will be very happy with the outcome.
  20. @m sprank White vinyl, but if you can get them in any other colour I would be willing to pay a little extra. I would want to get the sedan in gold or pink so it goes with the other gold or pink stickers on my car. I too have a long of a list of items to address before the meet. Listed in order of which I will probably complete them. Replace defective Denso O2 with a replacement - Done Install & wire up 08-09 steering wheel +i85 harness for swc - Done Finish carbon ebrake handle & install - done Replace an endlink bushing - done Intall roof rack - done Replace rotors, pads, and paint calipers at all 4 corners - Done Oil & Filter Change - Done transmission/diff flush & re-fill - Pending Re-seal rear diff - Pending Change spark plugs - Pending Prep/sand/paint and install spats, stakes, front lip & duckbill - Painted/Clear coat applied - waitng to polish and buff before installing them Swap on new (rust free colour matched) doors, hood & trunk lid (waiting for warmer weather) - 3 of 4 doors replaced Replace an exhaust coupler Repaint front & rear bumper - Spots filled, and bumpers sanded waiting on paint Touch up some rust spots on the car Re-tint windows
  21. I just installed these headers a few months ago. Great fitment and picked up a little more power with these. You will loose the Subi rumble but it still sounds great.
