  1. The more I look at trucks these days the more I want one more than anything else lol Too many people I know and work with are rolling up in them. A co-worker 'allegedly' put in his order for the RAM TRX... we'll see as he is a talker. I don't feel like I could shop objectively between the Ford 150, Ram 1500s, and Chevy Silverado 1500s (considering GMC as well). I am biased against Fords and lean toward Ram due to past limited experience. I keep hearing Ford's new line is much improved but idk. What are the subaru fam's opinions on the matter? I know it will ultimately be my preference as they vary in features, aesthetics, towing, etc. For the most part, the differences in towing or off road don't sway me. Visual wise, they are all pretty similar esp the Silverado and Sierra. I'll want a neutral paint job with sport trims and wheels/tires lifted anyway, which brings them all even closer visually. The important part is Crew Cab over extended since that extra room would be good for the dog with a car seat in the back. It's crazy how nice the standard large trucks are these days, comfort and tech wise. It'd be hard to get something older than 2017. Price-wise, Ram seems to have lower than market right now but across the board I'm seeing low truck prices for average used mileage 1 owners. I would love to get something 30k or less but not looking promising. Of course I could go to the customs place around the corner and get the 80k monster hahaha then I'd be divorced.
  2. ^Same. Guess the 'Rona has folks not looking for wheels? I remember Pm'ing Coco a couple of years ago about trying to deal on his GT wheels, but I just never had the time or motivation to make it happen. Cant remember how much I was offering. I still want to put winters on my Legacy and if you were in the area I'd easily make 300 happen.
  3. I'm wondering if this will pave way to some friendlier car prices over the next couple of years due to inventory, since most folk's cars will have extended lives. Although if production is down then it'll all even out.
  4. Safety and Emissions Insp. Renewed registration. Paid annual VA property tax, and submitted high mileage waiver so I can hopefully get some of that back. Needs a wash and interior detail so hopefully this weekend. Also need to get the car seat base installed just in case. I've only put about 3k miles in the past year, so an oil change coming up just 'cause.
  5. Dang, didn't realize you were selling Sarang. Been 1 month already on parental leave and been out of the loop in about every aspect of life outside baby lol Like my safety inspection and registration expiring at the end of the month.. oops. But 6k seems more than fair to me, based on prices I've seen. But at the end of the day, if folks aren't buying that speaks loudest. I Would have listed 7500-8k and took 6k at the min (at least to start). I'm hoping to get 5k for my 2013 2.5i Premium w/ 170k. I'll re-iterate that once the new STI numbers are official when they launch next fall, I'll make my decision. I like the idea of the 5th gen legacy better tbh, but hard to beat the new tech and still get a MT AWD turbo. If he STI is a flop, or the wife is super against the $ at the time, then I'll be hitting up all of you folks on the fence about selling haha New STI + old truck. or Old LGT + new truck. The wife gets a small luxury SUV at some point
  6. Thanks, everyone! Been a wild week haha Currently setting the 529 up now. Hoping for those scholarships, though! Still paying my student loans. We have a couple of daycare targets, but 1 in particular. We called around and with Covid a lot don't have wait lists. We're worried how tough it will be though when everyone goes to send their kids back.. but fortunately we have until around January until we need to make that decision. We slowly made our way out from Alexandria, to Centreville, and now Gainesville. If it wasn't for commute times, I would have been looking at Winchester or further lol A few years ago we almost made a move to Richmond with the job I had. Thankful we didn't though lol Cheers all! Looking forward to not being too tired to drink a beer in celebration.
  7. Entered the world of fatherhood and welcomed my little girl into the world last Thursday. All projects on hold Can't wait for her to be able to hand me my 10mm socket.
  8. My wife drove hers new off the lot in Sept 2012, so coming up on 8yrs. Was the grad school commuter and then the travel hog so sitting at 170k. Took it over from the wife March of last year at 164k lol shorter commute and Covid have extended this car's life a few years! I'm not even going to look underneath for that rust... those commuting miles were on I-78 in PA -_-
  9. Dang, that sucks. Wonder how cheap it'll go... could use my 2.5i as the shell and just put the internals in it
  10. It seems a lot of us are like minded here.. who woulda thunk it!?
  11. My neighbor is a retired mechanic. I see quite a few VWs he has been working on/or own. A lot of old bugs actually. He has a race trailer with a VW in it.. really curious as to what. Have only chatted him up 2 or so times since I moved in so not quite there yet I'm hoping he has a lift in his garage lmao
  12. The more I think about it, I might just buy a GT off of one of you when y'all jump ship lmao this way I can also afford to buy a truck. Just waiting on that 2021 STI official unveil 0.0 400HP = all bets are off.
  13. Ouch, hopefully gets fixed up soon. And affirmative on the SunJoe. I got this model: Sun Joe SPX3000 2030 Max PSI 1.76 GPM 14.5-Amp Electric Pressure Washer Just looked on my amazon history and paid $134 for it (msrp 200). It's under a $100 now which is crazy. Great price for it and I highly recommend especially for car washing. Not super loud, although when spraying it does make an electric whining noise as it compresses. Nothing like a constantly running gasoline one though. Has several nozzles. Used smaller angles on some concrete and worked really well at about 2-3 inches. Will be using on vinyl siding this fall and some shed shingles, and hopefully my garage flooring so I can etch and seal. I don't predict any issues. quick edit: It has a decently long power cable with GFCI built in. I haven't researched or tried via any extensions cord, but standard electric principles apply to amps and current. I might order a longer cable for the pressure wand, so I can circle my car completely without needing to move the unit or get stuck around tires.
  14. Hasn't gotten much love since the new year. New house. Covid. Traded FXT for the Highlander which just finally got a full detail 3months later to prep for the soon arrival of baby. Haven't driven or cleaned the Legacy for a long time. Moved it the other day and had to remove some melted chapstick lmao Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
  15. As someone who did landscaping and lawn treatments through high-school and college, I learned quite a bit. The most surprising thing was how often you need to mow or as I prefer to say, groom your yard. But the more you do, the more you need to feed it thru fertilizer/compost/overseeding etc. A catch 22. If you just keep mowing, it'll burn out. Side random and creepy note, this article showed up in Chrome with some Subaru truck fabs. https://www.carscoops.com/2020/05/subaru-wrx-pickup-actually-looks-good-who-would-have-thought/amp/ Seems I'm not the only one to have dreamt this. 16. In my post right before this I used the word "look" lol my initial post did say Frame, but I didn't mean to imply that level of similarity. Just mean 2 door with a truck bed (Brat+baja). No why.. Just do! Late night rabbit hole of a thought process. And when I saw the more legit conversations regarding track builds it made me chuckle in shame
  17. For sure haha. And yeah, it was more of a thought experiment as mentioned. As I said, I've been wanting a truck for a bit and since I'm familiar around Subarus since my last 3 have been one I started peaking at baja lifted set ups. Which led me to Brat lifted set ups. Which then led me to all sorts of dark and dangerous things in the internet rabbit hole But the Camino really does share some of that "look" which is why my brain wondered what a boxer and AWD drivetrain would spec out to. But of course all points are very valid haha a lot of fab work and cost. Buuuttt. who is in the car scene for the cost savings!!?? Amazing.. need it.
  18. I'd love a long block or big block set up in any frame really someday. But I've been digging the Brat and Baja type rally configurations which led me to a similar frame in the Camino. Kind of the middle ground really, 2 door with a bed. It'd probably be pretty easy to source parts from an older WRX. I'm biased because they are the local shop I go to, but I'm really a fan of the Mach V Crucials, one of their newer wheels (they have them in 5x100): https://www.fastwrx.com/products/mach-v-crucial-18x9-5-5x114 I've really wanted these on my Legacy but have justified purchasing new wheels yet. Maybe when my tread life is up, which will be in 3 years with Rona haha
  19. Y'all over here building sweet track cars.. mean while I'm over here wondering if it'd be doable to put a WRX drivetrain and engine in an El-Camino lmao.
  20. Came across that bit when replacing my slide pins and boots as well when I had some sticking issues. Anti rattle sounds about right.. seems like it just plumbs everything up even since the bolt is only threaded on a portion of it (I think?) or at least only partially housed in the caliper bolt hole. Drove the car yesterday morning for the first time in a few weeks... felt weird lol friendly reminder that if you're isolating and not going anywhere, drive the car around the block to cycle fluids and battery.
  21. No one in the 5th gen section It looks to me like the leggy wasn't even paying attention when he tried to get over and didn't see the biker. And maybe thought the biker was the one speeding up the left lane and stopped merging expecting the bike to just blow by. But instead they ended up driving next to each other closely for a bit. The leggy driver was probably shouting "GO!" (has happened to me where its clear and then an idiot tries blowing by everyone and shows up right in my mirror or worse, my window). This is probably best case scenario for the leggy driver, which still isn't a good look as they clearly weren't paying attention. The worst case is that prior interaction occurred, and no matter who was being an asshole, you don't run a motorcycle off the road on purpose.
  22. Yes, you made a mistake. I'll trade you mine with 172k miles
  23. I typically just let my investments ride it out (still hodl'ing some crytpo lmao). I did reallocate my 401k portfolio back in Feb though. I find that's a little less risky in terms of timing markets. However, I happened to luck out by needing to take out a 401k loan for my mortgage downpayment... As it stands, I'm going to make money on my loan Finances are a curious thing. It's a lot of work to keep up with it, which is why this year I think I'm going to finally hire someone.
  24. I always do my taxes pretty early, so I'm extra salty about this lol I almost doubled my income from 2018 to 2019, so now my wife and I don't qualify. Not a "bad" thing I suppose... but mo' money is always nice! Especially living in an expensive area and just buying a house.. and having a kid in July. Life doesn't always care about income. I feel like there is a much better mathematical calculation than a blanket income level across the entire US. Just lame knowing that if I procrastinated another month, I'd have a couple extra Gs! Another reinforcement to procrastinate.
