  1. 2016. Just hit 139k. I love it but just didn't make sense to keep. Got a lower trade in offer than I wanted but even with neg equity I still dodged more repair costs. 1.9 Apr on 2023 Wrx so I bribed the wife and succeeded somehow. New owner of this gem:
  2. I regret selling my Legacy officially lol Truck def gave off the hemi tick this morning, so I've got quite a laundry list of repairs that are creeping up on urgent status that I can't really be dropping a few thousand at the shop so will probably be doing it myself.. except it'll probably take me a couple of weekends. That 3rd car would be nice right now lol. Any chance anyone is selling for around 4-5k?
  3. Big fan of the Mazda styling and driver oriented driving and comfort (passengers aren't quite as high but decent). The big reason we ended up with the Highlander over the CX-9 is due to the lame sales team at the Mazda dealer, and knowing the highlander would retain its value better since we knew it is our bridge SUV while the baby/toddler stage wreaks havoc lol - then it's probably an update to a Volvo XC-90 hybrid (but may consider the new CX-90/Grand Highlander/Telluride). Hard to beat Volvo comfort though but pricing is important.
  4. Quite the list Point XD gonna be a few days of test drives when the time comes. I came across this low priced, high mileage '18 3.6 outback: https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/4S4BSETC5J3323607 Unfortunately, it appears based on service records that oil changes were barely done over 166 miles lol not to mention from sources such as dealer, midas, and walmart. i'd wonder what that engine looks like 0.0
  5. I'll also be hanging onto my truck for a while yet. Turns out the dealer I bought it from didn't disclose severe structural damage to the rear frame. There are no accidents reported, this was just brought up at Carmax when they were able to see Auction disclosures on Experian Auto Check. I half wonder if its just from rust, as I looked and didn't see any bends/pinches, repairs, or cracks any where, and I've towed upwards to 10k pounds with it a few times. Regardless, Carmax will milk that shit and only offered me 12k :D. Even listed they would need to replace the rear bumper, and there is zero wrong with the current one. Oh, and a transmission replacement because it downshifts a little hard lol bunch of crooks, the whole industry. Good thing I love my truck, but was really looking forward to a 3.6r outback build.
  6. Everything is overpriced these days . The new gen WRX has grown on me a good bit. Rear bumper and taillights are still meh though.
  7. Considering getting back into a Subaru The truck has been nice, but I've taken care of most of my home improvement supply hauls and don't have much use aside from picking up free shit on facebook lol I figure a 5x10 trailer will be plenty for my needs if I can land a 3.6r outback. Found this one: https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/4S4BSETC6H3243517. But idk if it was just a really poor cleaning/detail job or if it got water inside at some point based on the photos. Either way, looking around for a wagon as long as I can get a good offer on the truck. Happy 2024 car hunting all!
  8. oh man... brb, returning the ear rings I just bought for my wife let me get back to you on this.. see if I can work some xmas magic. but def intrigued. Was it your old post that I commented on before seeing you driving on 50? couldn't find my posts.
  9. SOLD. Settled at $4000. Much lower than I would have liked, but buyer was serious and helping out a refugee (good story either way lol). Registration, taxes, and insurance were also motivated to get it out of my driveway.
  10. yep, which is why I'm salty it had to be replaced at all. Been so well maintained and probably will go 300k+ strong with just normal maintenance items. Just need to find the right buyer.
  11. The valve body I've read a lot of folks have had to replace, solely due to a solenoid failing (low voltage usually). Subaru doesn't sell the solenoid individually, and 3rd party marketplace solenoids can be hit or miss. The issue arises when doing the replacement, the valve body is attached to the transmission so you're essentially opening it up as well. Some model CVTs have the valve body on top, others on the bottom. I'm actually unsure which mine is. The reason I opted not to DIY is that the valve body has a lot of little parts - sensor harness, o-rings, bolts, etc. and can be finicky. The story I got was the tech 'mis-placed' an o-ring and ended up getting sucked into the tranny. The 2013 CVT is actually known to be pretty strong - in response to sprank. I don't remember the information precisely, but there was a change/improvement at some point during the 2013 model year - hence the diff location of the valve body itself. I never had a problem, which is why I pushed back on the dealer to provide me detailed information as to why the tranny was slipping when there were no signs of transmission issues previously and plenty of recorded cases of the valve body being replaced without further issues.
  12. All good, open to feedback! If I get some time I'll def be returning to stock. I'm getting close to dropping to $5400 but might throw it up on Auto Trader first. I'm certainly not happy about the added CVT asterisk >_<
  13. Buuuump. Save me from VA property tax and Sept registration expiry
  14. Dang.. I've got it listed on FB marketplace too. Didn't think it'd be this hard to sell
  15. SOLD Year, Make and Model: 2013 Subaru Legacy Premium Color: Crystal Black Silica Miles: ~186k (will slightly increase to keep mechanics and fluids fresh) Transmission: CVT Title: Clear Lien: None Location: Gainesville, VA VIN: 4S3BMBC67D3005810 Seller's email address: prefer not to list - email notifications will be set up on this post Asking Price: $6400 OBO - updated 5/16. Some minor interest on FB marketplace but nothing serious. At this point I just want the space in my driveway lol Background: Up for sale is my meticulously maintained, 1 owner '13 Legacy. My wife (then gf) bought it new in PA in Sept 2012 to be a reliable commuter for graduate school. It averaged about 30k mostly highway miles a year for the first 3-4 years, hence the high mileage. All required maintenance performed on recommended schedule intervals. The first 90k were at a local Subaru dealer in PA, and since then has been a combination of DIY, dealer work, and Mach V in Sterling. A couple shops here and there for tire rotations and oil changes when scheduling was tight. When I had the chance during maintenance items, I upgraded where it made the most impact, primarily suspension since it's not a GT. A few minor hiccups along it's journey which I will list below as well. When purchased new it cost 22,500. I wish we could find cars this nice today at that price point. Summing up my excel sheet log book is about $15k+ in maintenance over 10.5 years. Mods/Improvements: - Koni Inserts w/ H&R springs - Superpro and whiteline front LCA bushings - 20mm WRX rear sway bar - Nameless Axelback exhaust w/ muffler delete - welded in 5 inch Magnaflow muffler afterwards - Stitched leather steering wheel and shift knob wrap - Side windows are tinted (rear and front eyebrow no longer due to windshield replacements) - Fumoto valve on oil drain pan Flaws/Asterisks: - Dings and Scratches expected for this mileage - Center console arm rest has a few dimples from dog paw - didn't break through - 2 incidents that I've buffed out; A gate and parking garage pole jumped out at my spouse - Front bumper tabs under headlights have been damaged over time - occasionally I need to pull up on the fog vent area and push in under the headlight housing. The bumper is not at risk of falling off. - CVT transmission was replaced 11/2022 for free due to dealer fault during a valve body replacement. The 'new' CVT was refurbished with 125k miles and has a 1 year warranty ending 11/2023. Thanks to Safford Brown Manassas Subaru for this one. Notable Maintenance Items: ToDo The reason for selling is I mostly feel obligated to commute in it since I have a more comfortable truck with all the bells and whistles. I'd rather put the cash in a savings account, find a fun project car to play around in, or do some house projects. It spites me to move on from it due to all of the maintenance and improvement costs/time invested and I had every intention of going 200k miles plus, but that's the name of the auto game lol This would make a great commuter or starter car for a kiddo. I have the stock suspension parts to go along with the car. I'd consider lowering the price if I return to stock and keep the winter tires. Pics: I'll upload more once I have some more time to dig through my catalog or get it cleaned up. Latest shot when putting the winter tires on:
  16. Anyone around here occasionally stalk the webz for listings? Found this one in VA Beach with flood damage on the title: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/t-Used-Subaru-Legacy-2.5-GT-Limited-AWD-t34220#listing=333018944/NONE lol wonder what level of flooding.. like swimming with the fishes, or ass in the sand, toes in the water.
  17. Bumping an old thread here but was doing some searching and came across it so I thought I'd chime in. From what I've gathered online and from Mr. Subaru vids, the valve body replacement shouldn't have any bearing on a premature transmission failure, as long as the diagnosis and codes point directly to that part (i.e most commonly a solenoid voltage issue). The process is fairly simple to replace them, but there are certain variances that need to be considered with the CVT fluid temps and levels, as well as the different fluid plugs for the trans vs diff on the trans housing. For that reason, I opted to have the dealer to the work vs doing it myself, and it resulted in the technician making a mistake with an o-ring or some variation of reassembly, causing the CVT to fail and be replaced (on their dime thanks to my psuedo knowledge). With all of that said, it's just a matter of confidence in the replacement. The valve body has been a commonly documented repair without further reports of issues. You may get the occasional one, but sometimes the valve body fails because the car is ran hard, and thusly also impacting the CVT lifespan. I'm hanging onto mine for now because its been owned since new with extra maintenance care taken, but am certainly looking to get rid of it at some point due to a now used CVT being replaced in an otherwise clean vehicle.
  18. Wow, very nice. If I wasn't in love more so with the 5th gens I'd be an interested party. GLWS. Also love the garage storage solutions.
  19. ^ Love it. Here I am pumped that I was able to find some of the pretty mint previous gen WRX 5x100 wheels with winters on them for $500 bucks Cleaned up: Installed: Looks way better than stocks.. I may have to put my all season rubber on these after winter is up and use the stocks as winters moving forward I also bought a magnaflow 4 inch muffler that got installed on my muffler deleted nameless axleback. Was a bit too loud/droany.. more mild but still noticeable now.
  20. yeah, those are tucked in there lol I considered just going to the guy and test fitting them for a quick ride around the block and some bumps. but i think i'm just trying to manifest it to work for the deal since I'm not seeing much out there at the moment. guess I'll be more patient
  21. About 30k on the setup. I've got stocks that I'm going to swap in at some point coming up. For those with the H&R setups.. you think I could get away with a 225/60 r17 snow tire? Decent deal locally for a set but they were off an outback. I like the idea of more sidewall, but might be a little snug/rubbing. My tires now are 215/50 r17 on a 17x7 stock wheel and I'd say I've got about another inch of clearance.
  22. Yeah, the filters def irked me. Which got me the 25% from initial offer of 20% discount. Still planning to talk to the Service Manager mostly for the warranty details, but I won't decline any additional opportunity for discounts for sure lol I've certainly handled myself well, i think. I find just continually asking clarifying questions to be an effective way to communicate that I'm not accepting what they're saying and it doesn't align with my or reasonable expectations lol
