  1. Going back to stock from the nameless axleback muffler delete Figured I'd check here before I scour the interwebz for a cheap one.
  2. Finally have the Leggy back in my possession today. Seems to be driving fine and all good after the trans replacement. But would have been too easy if everything was in order as I expect them to be lol of course the final invoice had a few line items i needed to push on. a $670 'labor charge' on the valve body replacement - but its listed as 'check transmission'. The initial repair item didn't have it listed and it appeared the labor was already calculated previously. They also did work they claimed I requested, but I didn't authorize. license plate bulb for safety inspection - I would have done myself and got it inspected later instead of paying $40 in labor for the $7 bulb. I also had those replaced only a couple of years ago with LEDs.. so idk about that in the first place. And they inexplicably tossed out my K&N engine and cabin air filters and replaced them.. charging me $70+ to do it. Must have ignored the large stop sign stickers and common sense. At this point my gut tells me the tech wasn't happy I didn't just roll over and pay for a transmission they bombed, and was knowledgeable enough to push back and get it sorted, so they did these ticky tacky things to F with me. Never going back there, that's for sure. I did get them to take %25 off the final bill, but I still feel like I paid out 100-200 more than I should have. Not to mention how inconvenient this BS has been.
  3. I don't know what shipping would be to CAD, but I'm most likely going to be putting stock suspension back on before selling my car and will be listing the Koni insert + H&R setup for sale. We could look into cost if that's the setup you're interested in
  4. Sent you a PM. I'm interested in the suspension for a swap back to stock.
  5. It's Brown's Subaru of Manassas - which as of the last couple of weeks has been bought out to be Safford Brown Subaru Manassas. They'll regarded as more reputable than some of the other ones like Beyer and Stohlman, so I may be the outlier here... they are also finally making it right, albeit due to my knowledge and persistence. Most other folks probably would have just signed the line. I may be benefiting from the buy out, and new ownership wanting to keep things on the up. Who knows. Holding my breath until I get the work order and authorize it though.
  6. Yeah I'm a little wary as well but I have little alternatives at this point. They are offering a 1 year warranty on the replacement tranny and will be using the new valve body on it. This tranny technically has 60k less miles, but i don't know anything about it. My car has been very well maintained so definitely a bummer to have to go this route. More motivation to sell tbh, but at least I'm not on the hook for another $1700 bucks. oh, i should also mentioned I straight up asked them what they would give me for it if I just said they handle the repairs and costs... came back with $500 lmao. What a joke. BuT uSeD cAr PrIcEs ArE aT aN aLa TiMe HiGh.
  7. Finally got through to someone at the dealer after 1.5 weeks of 2-3 calls per day (trying to be empathetic due to vacations and such). But story has changed again on the CVT failure, albeit in my favor this time. Apparently during the valve body replacement an o-ring went missing or was missing? So that was discovered due to secondary pressure not holding and further investigation. So they are taking responsibility on that issue and will be replacing the CVT with a used one with about 120k miles on it and I'll only be on the hook for the initial valve body repair cost. At least that is the story I'm being told now.. documenting here but I've asked for all of that to be sent over in a new work order for my authorization.
  8. hah I've been waiting for it to pop up. Looking like I'll end up paying the dealer to do the CVT replacement and then try selling it. Whether I look to pick up another commuter is tbd. My truck is comfy.
  9. I know that's usually the consensus, but the 2 GTs I've seen are 15 and 18k. I might be able to get 5k for mine. I would hope I could get away with a project and some elbow grease for under 10k, and could do it in stages to budget/time. My car's body is pretty clean too. IDK lol I'm desperate to not let this thing die with all the cost I have into it to date for CVT death to end it. Wife will probably squash it anyway. I'm just sad.
  10. Sweet. Still in limbo atm.. dealer is telling me the CVT needs replaced so I'm unsure what I'm going to do with it. But I'm leaning towards for sure taking the suspension so i can swap out.
  11. How bonkers would I need to be to undertake an EJ25 JDM + JDM 6MT trans swap into my 2.5i? I understand I'd need to replace a host of components around them, but if I've got the suspension and chassis ready to go it should theoretically be not too custom of a swap? Looking like my CVT might be toast... so if spending the money...
  12. Not sure if you're still going down this rabbit hole, but I'm dealing with the valve body replacement now. Solenoid code was being thrown. I didn't have time to do it myself with a new solenoid or even a valve body kit, so I dropped it off for the dealer to replace it. Unfortunately they are now telling me my trans needs replaced. I will clarify though that my trans/shifting wasn't experiencing any issues at all or like the ones you're describing. The issues you describe and with video appears that the CVT may truly be a goner. I don't think mine should need replaced.. but that's an update for a future date.
  13. I hope it doesn't sell either... until next year and I buy it LOL I just got word from the dealer doing the valve body replacement ($$) that it wasn't running right after the work was done, so they replaced a transmission fluid pressure sensor to see if that would help ($). No dice and now they are saying it may be the entire CVT trans ($$$). WTF. It was running fine before they touched it, even if it was throwing the valve body solenoid code. I've read this is a pretty common repair for this part and didn't seem super technical aside from having to do the trans fluid heat procedure. I would think a dealer service department would have this repair down to routine... any change they F'd this up and nuked my CVT? Pretty frustrated at this point.. it's been 2 months almost they've had it and is in worse shape now. I'd only be able to get 5-7k private sale previously, minus the 1.6k I was expecting to pay for this work... We'll see what quote they come back with for the CVT replacement if needed. This is a 1 owner, mostly highway miles and well serviced. I've only replaced suspension, braking, and exhaust parts on it. Not happy.
  14. I could be interested in the stock suspension set up (really the struts mostly). Whenever the dealer finishes a repair (hopefully this week) I'm going to see how much they'll buy it from me. It'd be sweet to get some extra cash from my Konis if I can swap them in. If they decide to only offer me tree fiddy for it I'd be interested in the headlights and license plate mount as I'd be keeping it lol heck, if we can work a bulk deal I may still take the suspension off your hands for the future. edit: should also mention I'm in Gainesville, and most likely drive by your neck of the woods some days.
  15. Went to check up on it at the dealer.. was sitting next to a '21 STI and a Hawkeye that looked mint.. shoulda snapped a pic - she was in good company. Will be there probably till the end of the year waiting on the valve body harness to finally become available. Until then I'm putting miles on the loaner(s). Just returned the Forester Sport after 30 days, and am now in an Ascent which my wife might want at the end of this lol. The Forester sucked, tbh. loud, not super comfortable, didn't seem SUVish at all, and the power band felt super inconsistent. Felt like a step backwards vs the '17 XT I use to own. Haven't driven the Ascent much, but first impressions are good. It's only the premium trim so comfort items a little bare, but gives a good idea of the vehicle in general. Seats are comfy and its very spacious. Notably a bit larger than the Highlander and better ride, although it is 5 years newer and Toyota is more utilitarian. The turbo 4 cylinder feels more natural and peppier of a drive around town vs the Highlander's V6 (as expected). I'd be interested to test drive the new Highlanders 4 banger. Biggest thing I like about this Ascent in particular is the Brilliant Bronze Metallic paint. My fav code hands down.. I wish I could the WRX in it. Anyways... might just ask the dealer to buy the Legacy at this point lol
  16. Had some time the other weekend to diagnose a little further. Turns out the coolant was just a little dirty, so no oil there. Had the codes pulled and ended up being the Body Valve on the CVT. Exact code i think was either high or low voltage on the solenoid. Decided I don't have time/patience to mess with CVT fluid procedures and dropped it off at the dealer yesterday. Sucks to spend 1800 on this car but it is what it is. Still undecided to continue commuting it or selling it. Might hit up KBB/Carmax and such to get a feel. If I keep riding it, I might just end up gifting it to my sister in the future who has 4 kids lol 1 driving and 1 soon to be.
  17. Was eyeing up some WRXs to replace the Legacy since I had my truck... but then I got booped and she's totaled. So my next 'car' is a newer truck - 2016 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn in Dark Forest Green. Fully loaded with air suspension option. Nicest vehicle I've ever owned. 1 owner with service records but 123k miles means I got a decent price (these days at least). Looks like my 'fun' car plans will be put on hold for awhile since I decided to upgrade, but I'll be enjoying the vented seats blowing cold air up my wastegate. Be safe out there!
  18. I'm just gonna assume head gaskets lol Want to sell the car anyway, so thinking I'll have my fun pulling the engine and cleaning things up myself and parting ways with it soon after.
  19. Drove it 10 min, then 10 min straight home when the Christmas tree popped on the dash. Flashing brake and oil temp. The oil light popped the other day so I ordered Motul to do a change this weekend. But it appears things escalated faster than normal. Coolant Reservoir appears to have oil in it.
  20. So ready to move on from the Legacy lol Finally seeing some Kia Stingers with 50k miles getting closer to $30k. A few used WRXs with Stage 2 blocks in the mid 20s that I might take a chance on since I have the truck as a backup. Getting ancy! I go back and forth 3 times a week. My wife loves it....
  21. Zip tie mafia! lol Constantly just lifting under the fog light cavity lip while pushing in with the knee every time I get in the car these days haha
  22. Broke what tabs may have been left on my front bumper under the headlight when I smacked a concrete platform around a gas pump lol came in a little hot. Hit 185k and ordered another oil change. May just be in my head.. but starting to feel/sound like its running rough.
  23. Lame. welp, looks like I'm nearing my end of forum visitation. Pretty much have already gone that way with nasioc and the outback/forester sites.
  24. I didn't realize Recaro made kids seats lol Those for sale?? My kiddo has recently bumped up from the rear facing carrier systems to the 3 in 1 gracos. Still rear facing for another couple of pounds though.
