  1. That 15 post minimum applies to posting in existing threads, as well as to creating new threads. Once you get up to 15 posts in the other forums (bearing in mind that General Chat doesn't count toward that total), that will unlock your ability to post in the Member Classifieds. I'm not positive whether that happens instantly, or if there's a slight delay while the system figures itself out, but that should be all you need to do.
  2. Heads-up for those who run Rotella T6, apparently this is a thing: https://slickdeals.net/f/11995231-case-of-qty-2-1-gallon-2-gallons-total-shell-rotella-t6-5w-40-full-synthetic-oil-6-ar-autozone-b-m-only-plus-a-free-hat AutoZone has 2x 1 gallon jug cases on sale for $20 (apparently depends on the store), minus $7/gal rebate, so $6 total ($3/gal). Knock off another $7 if you use the $7 off $30+ coupon (there's a URL in post #43) and buy 2 cases, for a grand total of $1.25/gal for 4 gallons. There's a free hat in the box, too, so there's that. I'm not sure if the one near me is open today, but I sure as heck aim to find out.
  3. Probably means I should try to move a chunk of threads over lunch. It seems to be worse during high-traffic times, AKA when I usually have free time, so I haven't done much recently.
  4. Yeah, we've been having issues recently. We're going through and archiving basically any thread older than about 3 years in order to lighten the load on the server, which seems to be helping, but with as quickly as the issue cropped up, I'm not sure if that's the root cause or not. It's definitely not an isolated thing, though, everyone has been having the same issue. There's a sammich thread going in the Site Suggestions forum down at the bottom, if anyone wants to join in on that- I've been trying to provide updates there as they happen, but in the interim, there's been some tasty stuff posted in there. Just be sure you have a strong opinion on Cheese Wiz if you plan on posting...
  5. Whoa, there, let's be sensible. Better make sure you can fit your clubs in the trunk first! I know a case of "I already bought it, I just don't know it yet" when I see it (been there, done that, still own both cars), and this sure looks like one of those cases to me. Don't forget the build thread!
  6. I know the plan is to migrate the forum over to something newer (which always means better, because it's on the internet, and the internet is always right), and I believe the plan was to do that in the near term (months, not years), but you'd probably need Tide or SBT if you wanted a progress update on that. In the meantime, archiving threads is easy enough for us lowly non-admin mods to do, and it seems to be making a difference. It limits how old of a thread can be necro-posted, too, so I think the record (far as I've seen) is going to stand at about 11 years.
  7. Bumping this one to the top of the list because it's topical again- we're going through forum by forum and moving any thread that hasn't been touched in the last 3 years to forum-specific archives. These archives are still viewable and searchable (including Google "site:" custom searches), and all content will remain intact, but if you're looking for a thread and not finding it, try the archives. I just moved everything in the 5th-gen forum with a last post date on or before Dec. 31, 2015 over to the archive, and there's quite a bit of content there, so don't forget to select both the 5th-gen model specific forum and the 5th-gen archive when you use the site's search tool. The various archive forums are located at the bottom of the forum homepage, and the 5th-gen archive is located here: http://legacygt.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/5th-gen-2010-2014-legacy-platform-bm-br-archive-155.html
  8. To my knowledge, it shouldn't affect either situation, but I don't really know of any good threads to test it on. Let me take a stab at finding something I've already moved and see what happens. edit: I punched "site:legacygt.com double din hvac" into the google, and the first result was V1 of that thread, which is currently in the tech forums archive. I made V2 before I archived V1, and the link to V1 at the top of V2 still works. Not exactly statistically significant, but one verified success is better than the alternative, I guess. To the best of my understanding, it'd be like making a formula in Excel like "=A2+B2" in cell C2, then highlighting and dragging cell A2 somewhere else- the formula in C2 would automatically update with the new location of that data, but the data itself wouldn't change. We're just moving A2 to a different workbook that's set to manual update mode, rather than having it in one big shared workbook with hundreds of people leaning on the refresh button all day. Either that, or we're laminating the pages of the coloring book you've already doodled on without tearing them out of the book, whichever of those metaphors makes more sense.
  9. May as well go ahead and drop that Randy Marsh GIF here, too, because that sounds incredible. I read through this while eating a sammich for lunch (ham, turkey, pepperoni, american cheese, mayo, horseradish mustard, 12-grain- no pictures of my food, because I'm a grown-ass man and this isn't Instagram), and quickly felt outdone. New update: anything older than 3 years is getting archived in order to reduce the amount of threads continually being accessed in the database. If you're looking for something, make sure to include that forum's archive in your search, too.
  10. Nah, cheese wiz would stay liquidy, it'd take the real deal to harden up and gum things up this bad. Mozzarella, on the other hand, that'd melt in there real good. Maybe both provolone and mozzarella, possibly on a roll with some sliced roast beef, side of au jus... Also, yes, we're on it. We're taking a bunch of steps to archive old threads, which should help some, but we're suspecting that it may be related to moving the site over to https. I can't see far enough behind the curtain to know too much more than that, but we're working on it.
  11. I imagine that the forum would go a lot faster without all this talk of healthy sammiches. Forum speed is directly proportional to blood pressure- it's science! Also, there's a site-wide effort to find anything over 3000 posts and archive it- can't guarantee it'll cure things completely, but it should help.
  12. New thread bump. Like I said, if there are any other really important posts in V1, let me know and I'll copy those over here as well.
  13. I was going to do a little thread cleanup, but you guys caught me before dinner and those sammiches all look way too delicious to delete.
  14. Oops, sorry- I was saying that installing the EBCS for a stage 1 tune vs. saving it for stage 2 would be something you could ask your tuner about, not that the off-the-shelf tune would compensate for it. Seems like collectively, we got to the right answer, though- all's well that ends well!
  15. Definitely install the BPV, EBCS you can leave up to the tuner's preference. Once you install that BPV and can actually hold boost, though, you may find that you're happy enough with the OTS map to skip the pro-tune until next summer's stage 2 adventures.
  16. Excessively long threads (3000+ posts) seem to gum up the works pretty badly, so we've been closing and archiving those as we come across them (hence all the V2 and V3 threads). If you happen to see one of those that we missed, feel free to report it, and we'll take care of it. I noticed a pretty serious slowdown as well somewhere around when OP posted, probably took 30 seconds to a minute for the homepage to load. Seemed to clear up after that, though, could just be a glitch in the matrix.
  17. I assume you're leasing, then? German cars aren't known for inexpensive parts or maintenance, and VAG products aren't known for being particularly easy to work on, and the combination of those things doesn't exactly lend itself to a low total cost of ownership. Looks like you may not have to pull the engine on the (S)Q5 to replace a power steering pump, though, which is a plus. I'm not joking about that being something Audi does just to try to prove my point, by the way, that's actually a real thing. Not trying to be an argumentative jerk (not any more than you could expect complaining about a vehicle on a forum dedicated to that vehicle, at least), just pointing out a potential flaw in your logic. If you were willing to ditch your Legacy because of a CEL, you probably weren't particularly in love with it to begin with, sorry it wasn't what you'd hoped for. Also, armchair mechanic's best guess- I'd guess that if you'd had that code pulled, it would have been P0420 for low catalytic converter efficiency. Since the car didn't drive any differently, that would mean it'd be the rear O2 sensor, probably the heater circuit was starting to flake out. Ambient temps may or may not have played a role, but the code clears itself after a certain number of drive cycles without an occurrence. DIY fix for about $50 plus a can of PB Blaster and a trip to the auto parts store to rent an O2 sensor socket, or a couple hundred to have a mechanic do it for you.
  18. Y'know, I was going to follow up post #4 with something along the lines of "Riiiiight...", but I thought it might be in poor taste. So much for that theory!
  19. Did they swap the cylinder 4 coil with another one to make sure the misfire followed the coil? It's not uncommon for coils to rust out and stop working, but they're expensive enough that I'd want to make sure it was the coil and not a plug or injector first.
  20. I especially like how they got back into that lane after passing you, like it was no big deal.
  21. Welcome to the party! Be forewarned, we're pretty good at helping you spend your money, so you may want to lock up your wallet if you're going to swing over to the 5th-gen forum. That an Illinois plate I spy? I'm originally a FIB myself, so no judgement here.
