  1. Same here, almost to a fault. Real crappy time of year for that to happen, hang in there. Crazy, you say? Video (which is probably older than the internet itself, sorry) relevant: [ame=http://youtube.com/watch?v=hKWmFWRVLlU]Hot Crazy Matrix - A Man's Guide to Women - YouTube[/ame]
  2. Just did this today, and I'm honestly a little mad at myself for waiting this long. Couple little notes: GTEASER's post a couple pages in (re: gusset removal) says that the remaining gusset should go toward the front of the car- that's the end that gets the tube that leads to the master cylinder. Also, check the gasket on the throttle body side of the TMIC-TB hose while you have the intercooler off, doesn't get any easier to do. The hose came off with the intercooler on mine, despite the fact that I had loosened the clamp at the intercooler, and couldn't even get to the one at the throttle body.
  3. I've never had much trouble with black flies, but the mosquitoes... There have been times where I thought I was going to get picked up and carried off. Spent 7 summers working here. There's a good reason I was ok with moving up here for work.
  4. One of the few times I've seen a turkey during the daytime (not in a cage or in plastic wrap) was here (google maps), trying it's darndest to stay in flight while crossing the road. I was really pulling for it to make it, too, because I was heading that way at almost exactly the speed limit(ish). Luckily, it made it.
  5. Most people don't have much use for a truck most of the time. I'm probably just jaded, but I don't get having a truck, or at least not one bigger than a Ranger/Dakota/etc., as a DD. Granted, I just moved away from an area with a pretty good collection of street queens. Buy a half-ton pickup, get a bolt-on 3" lift, ditch the stock wheels and tires for something that screams at you on the highway (and bitch to anyone who will listen about how expensive they were) and rubs the fenders (and talk about getting a taller lift kit), and threaten to run over anyone who brake-checks you for tailgating them. Yeah, definitely jaded.
  6. Doing a circle pattern +1 or 2 after the star pattern doesn't hurt, either. Good way to make sure you didn't miss any. Taught to me by the man who has had a wheel fall off of not one, but two separate vehicles
  7. Time to fire back in the "coolest desk toy" arms race. Competition is currently a small crossbow made with barrettes (thanks for the assist, spellcheck) and a 3D printed catapult. The piston is 2" in diameter, for a scale reference.
  8. I have to imagine it's one of those "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" situations.
  9. Currently about 34° and precipitating (liquid or solid depends on when you look outside), and it's supposed to be below freezing for at least the next week or so. Might be about time to get off the factory summer rubber. Maybe.
  10. Apparently Ripon got an inch overnight, a couple cars in the parking lot had snow on them this morning. Pretty sure I saw a couple flurries around here (Oshkosh) about an hour ago, too. Might be a sign that I need to get off my ass and get some winter tires. Still got the factory summers on there, and something tells me that'll be an issue in a week or two here.
  11. Tape some pillows to the bumpers, too. If you're going passive-aggressive, may as well go all the way. Well, "all the way" would be getting his plates and a couple good pictures, waiting for him to leave, and calling in a hit-and-run. Pillows would be more amusing, though.
  12. Parking by sound is so much easier than knowing how long your car is, and judging by that bumper, that guy's no stranger to that concept.
  13. 2011 LGT w/ nav, black Male, 29 Service engineer for a major heavy truck manufacturer, the segment I'm in manufactures airport snow removal and fire rescue vehicles. I'm a mechanical engineer by degree, but I get plenty of opportunities to pretend to be an electrical engineer as well. 1st Subaru (of 2, now) Mods: OTS stage 1, STI STS, Perrin shifter bushing and shift stop, damper delete, Podi boost gauge to replace my deceased factory SPT boost gauge, 20mm WRX rear sway bar, 18"x8.5" +45 Enkei Raijins with 245/45R18 S04 Pole Position tires, Koni shocks and Eibach springs, SPC rear LCAs, GrimmSpeed TMIC, and plenty of other stuff waiting for warmer weather. Added an '06 Baja to the fleet about a year ago, since buying a second car seemed like a more responsible choice than modifying my only mode of transportation. Couldn't leave that one well enough alone either, so I swapped in the front seats from a bugeye WRX to keep my head from rubbing on the roof.
  14. As someone who grew up in the northwest suburbs and spent a decent amount of time in central IL, I don't think I'd complain if it was. Split off Lake and Crook, er, Cook counties, and make them a District or their own state or something.
  15. So I snapped the top off my ice scraper cleaning my windows this morning. Bad juju, man...
  16. I actually came across that earlier on a paintball forum, of all places. Guess the guy who posted it there knows the owner of the car, no word on whether it's John-117 or someone else. http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?p=84594313#post84594313 for more pics, if anyone cares.
  17. I don't think I'd say that, nobody has tried to sell pee bibs yet.
  18. Just started watching that show on Netflix about a week ago. Still not sure why I thought I had better things to do than watch The League.
  19. The one for $24k now has about 5000 more miles on it, and is definitely not for sale. The one for $27k with about 30k miles may still have that many miles, far as I know- I think the dealership thought they'd caught a real live unicorn. They weren't terribly helpful or friendly when I had my spy (read: mother) stop in to take a look, either.
