  1. Well.... the spec b is running, started on first crank last night! Special thanks to Tysparks87 for the help on the install and removal, and to Dave from Cryo for the base tune, no engine lights! Here is a clip after 20 mins of warm up, nice bit of a backfire to end the video!
  2. This, my 05 loves to drink oil randomly. Long trips are a constant. a 5L jug and a filter is super cheap insurance compared to a rebuild
  3. Haha well I usually do... I loaned it to my buddy who had a tire that kept going down. Perfect timing lol Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  4. Well another sh*tty day for the legacy but it came out ok. On my way to my office a piece of metal flew off of a transport truck... just missed my front end and luckily my jdm sti front lip. She sliced my tire like butter. Luckily from working on the spec b so much I had my 3 ton low pro jack in my trunk and a breaker bar with a socket set. The provincial police had someone block me from getting run over on the side of the highway and I got the spare on quickly. It had about 10psi left in it. Everyone check your spare tire's pressure!! I was near the next exit so I stopped at the Shell and filled the tire up. I had a spare tire at home! I called my subaru dealership because I needed parts, they said bring it in. They installed my other tire for free! Gotta love em, they turned a shit day into something good. Also I was speaking with one of their techs about my harmonic balancer/crank pulley coming apart on sunday. He left and came back a few mins later and handed me it and went back to the shop, he had just rebuilt an engine and it was spare, not new but spare... I could tell it had many many less miles than any of mine. This is what I love about the Subaru community (even the friggin dealership) people are there to help you out, they turned a crap day into something great!
  5. I'm 99% sure these are dealer only. It's where I got mine from when I did it last year
  6. Funny, I lucked out all wiring is fine, I got a scuff on the timing belt cover where it rubbed but that's it. Pretty much best outcome I could have had.
  7. Rubber hammer worked, got it in within 5 minutes... knowing is 1/2 the battle, or all of it on this occasion!
  8. Ok, I'll try the rubber hammer. I've lubed the o rings. Hopefully that works! Thanks Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  9. Well it's Sh*tty sunday funday. I headed down in myn 05 gt to work on the spec b, 4 kms away I hear a loud bang and I'm thinking I ran over something. Nope, alternator light is on, I go to turn, holy F no power steering and something hits the ground below the car. I pull over, crank pulley exploded. I pick it up and wrestle the car to the warehouse where the 08 is stored. Well positive news I have a spare pulley at home, I have a friend coming to pick me up. Not too bad... also my belt looks hilarious all shredded up. Now for the worlds simplistic thing that's causing me to go absolutely nuts, it just will not do what's needed. The F'n dipstick tube into the pan on the spec b. I've tried 3 tubes all do the same thing the one is slightly longer but it doesn't change a thing. Is there some magical trick to this or is this some anomaly that just wants to drive me crazy. Anyways here a couple pics and you can see how far ALL of the dipstick tubes go into the pan, so it's constantly leaking...
  10. Did some more work on the spec b build this eve, I cut out the sensors for the secondary air pump removal, had to modify the intake to fit the cobb inlet, which took a bunch of cutting and grinding, then cleaning the S out of it so I didn't have any metal filings about to go into the intake. Oh and with my keen eyes I saw I didn't plug back in the oil pressure sensor, luckily I saw that.
  11. Yep exactly, I just dealt with that and ended up replacing the clutch. pull the intercooler off and try to get it to clip into the pressure plate manually. It's not holding in. If you were pulling on the engine while the fork was still attached you probably bent something and it won't grab anymore.
  12. Well I'm an idiot and I think I tossed my air pump before cutting out the sensor... anyone got one lying around?
  13. Got my etune on my accessport, now to get the car finally put back together over this next week or so and the real fun can begin!
  14. Another actually successful weekend, more money spent than what I wanted to but the spec B got a treat. A brand new ACT HD Clutch, after dropping the engine in last weekend the release bearing wouldn't engage the pressure plate on the flywheel... I fought with it a bunch and pulled it out on saturday night. Well I'm not sure whats wrong with it, but it won't clip in. Fast forward to sunday and I visit a shop I like with one of our local legacy guys who works there. I checked out a new release bearing but everything looks the same. OK so they have a full kit in... F it, I don't want to deal and fight with the thing anymore and want to get this car on the road and not spend all winter on it. So this afternoon/eve, new clutch installed, re-installed the tranny, drive shaft and front brakes and cv shafts.
  15. Haha thanks guys, for that price I'll take it. I do have some other cusco pieces ready to install on the spec b when I get it on the road. Hopefully that car will have a 2015 STI rack in it as well.
  16. Interested in the cusco steering brace if you have a couple pics, could you send em my way?
  17. I made all my own with wire from amazon and a few bits I had collected over the years
  18. Started the engine swap this evening after getting the spec b towed to my friends factory/warehouse. I could drive in and it's heated, oh and there are a couple hoists I can use, maybe even the 12.5 ton crane. This eve I pulled the hood/prop, removed undertray, removed rad assy, and started unbolting the transmisson. Funny, I forgot most of my tools this morning, so I cut the evening early but I'd rather start it fully with a good sleep rather than do it all after work. Here's to a busy and hopefully not too frustrating weekend!
  19. I have two friends with quick jacks, they both love em. Yes they don't get that high, but they work well and don't take up a ton of space.
