  1. Just dropped my spare engine off to my rebuilder, it'll have new rings, bearings and brian crower springs installed. Sounds like he will crack it open on monday to see if there is any other things needed. I'll add this here, I'm wondering if I should throw these mirrors on my 08 spec b that I'm building (jdm 04-07) with the grampus and base covers... I'm in a dilemma if I should sell them... thoughts? will the harnesses work on the 08+?
  2. I put an 09 wheel in my 05, no issues here. I also redid the cruise control to the wheel buttons
  3. Started the huge clean out of the Spec B this car is just so dirty from the previous owner. I have the mats soaking in the mop sink in the bathroom here. I had a spare fob from my 05 so I just programmed it and it works! The car only came with a single NON oem key. I have a spare uncut one I bought a while back so I'll get a local mobile guy to get it going.
  4. My 2 children finally met tonight, the spec b has arrived... well at my office for now, lots of work coming up! I may call the new car rodney... cause it knocks hard!
  5. Buy only OEM O2 sensors, the rest are shit and don't last as long. I've had the experience and I change them in friends cars all the time
  6. Started the day at the MTO (ontario dmv) the new (to me) 08 Spec B is now officially in my name:spin: P.S. shameless plug, new instagram account for the car @08_spec_b
  7. Not today but on saturday, I drove the 05 LGT. To drop off the rest of the money for the 08 Spec B I found. I can't wait till friday eve when I can start tearing into this new car! Some stupid wedding on saturday though, damn you Tysparks87!!
  8. Subie Savers, I have a set in my garage, takes a bit of time to ship but the product is great
  9. frame restructure around the lights, imo not worth it at all
  10. I actually used to work in a shop and we were certified with corrosion free, I sprayed a bunch of vehicles back in the day with it. I found some today for 50% off in cans I grabbed some of those and fluid film which was about 20% off
  11. Sold to me, price agreed upon... $2750! I'm happy with that
  12. looks so good on my 49" ultra wide monitor at work.... mmmm
  13. haha great timing, I picked up the set of those I ordered over a month ago this morning at my local post office. The first set was apparently damaged and sent back, I was planning on using those on my 05, but this 08 has come up... I will be talking to the guy this evening about purchase price if we can agree on it
  14. My current car is cleaner than this one, body wise except at the rear rockers.. this one looks cleaner underneath though. Interior is a different ball game really, I'd have to clean the sh*t out of the spec b to see which is better in the end. But I do love that 08-09 interior over my 05. Although I have done the jdm dual din, and sti seats. Btw it looks like I can get fluid film at Canadian Tire here $16 a can. Funny I just checked a store around the corner from my work... $12 a can
  15. I will do all the work for myself, except really things where I would need specialized machinery like a alignment. I think I can put up with the rust, but I have started doing the bodywork on my 05 and it has turned out really well for my basic knowledge. The 6mt and the interior I think would be worth around the 3k mark and that's what I was looking for next. I'll look into fluid film or an equivalent, thanks Max
  16. Hey everyone, I'm looking for opinions here. I will try and give as much information as I can here, as I've finally found a car I want. But... It's dead. Rod knock on an 08 Spec B. Basics are this. It's an 08 Canadian Spec B with 223,000 kms on it, they guy blew a turbo, put another on... 3 months later engine done (sounds familiar) I'm not sure on the new turbo being any good now, I didn't pull the intercooler to see what the new one was, I did see a brand new housing though. The body isn't perfect, but it's overall decent, it's seen it's share of Canadian winters here in ontario so rust is forming. There is some rust stains from the doors on the chrome bits of the side skirts. That's pretty much all the bad, except the car needs a HUGE cleaning. It's dirty as hell and it's last vacuum looks like it was 3 years ago. The interior is in very good shape overall though. The good... The main of the paint looks in excellent shape, very good quality job tint done, full coilover setup, swaybars (silver ones, not sure what brand) with some good endlinks, only one small fender bender in it's lifetime with a $1700 claim. There is a full exhaust done and it did have a tune with the intake he had on it. The tires are also pretty much brand new. The guy was the second owner and overall seems like a legit decent guy. It had a new clutch done just over a year ago and the timing belt only has 40,000 kms on it. He specified he wanted around $3500 canadian dollars, I'm thinking more around the 2700-3000 mark. What do you guys think it's worth just off the top of your head, should I come up a bit or stick to my guns. It's been sitting for 3 months so I know it's not going anywhere fast.
  17. Going over my first post... a pro did look at it, tested for leaks and we put on the new compressor, we ran a vacuum on it for 15 mins with no leaks and then refilled the system with the proper amount of 134A. This is when the new compressor was put on because my clutch was seized.. we did watch the pressures on the machine and they balanced out so it seems like the pressure switch was doing it's job. It looks like it's down to electrical diagnosis with maybe a frayed wire going to the AC relay, I was hoping someone just had this same issue and could help point me in the right direction especially when dealing with the fuse/relay box/ecu if needed I ended up at the dealership this morning to pick up some clips that I ordered. So I did get the part number for the pressure switch, well it's welded to the line. Not cheap... but the part number is.... 73431AG05A
  18. I swapped the relay with the one from the fan since they were the same ones. It didn't change and the fan still worked. We did put the specified amount of 134A in the system (a little under 1lb), and it tested out ok. I'll call the dealer and see how much the pressure switch is. It is situated just below the battery, not too hard to get to
  19. Yes, it was freshly done with the new compressor, and blowing cold when we had it going.
  20. OK, to make this somewhat not to long winded, I haven't had my AC working for about 5 years, but never really cared when I had a work van. So I've got it all back together now with a replacement compressor and we had it all running at the shop, WITH A TEST PROBE kicking on the compressor. Everything seems normal, but I'm only getting power at the one pin location at the relay when the A/C button is pressed on. The fan turns on, as it should, but I'm not getting power over to kick the relay over to send power to the compressor. I may not have had the relay figured out but I believe when it is to be used there are 2 12v signals going to it. I'm not getting that 2nd 12V, but the fan does go on so it tells me the climate control is working properly. Any ideas? I'm kinda stumped at this moment
