  1. I'm currently on my 3rd unit with no difference between any of them, i gave up having subaru fix it a long time ago
  2. my boost gauge still works but i guess that a good spot to check
  3. well it wouldn't be very safe to have all the extra weight of a few kids without at least a few suspension mods to keep the handling predictable(seriously tho they did increase the spring stiffness and swaybar thickness in '13 to tighten it up, at least a rear sway bar is recommended to keep it from wandering when facing cross winds on the highway) and you know with all the diaper bags and stuff in the trunk you'll probably want a little more squirt... don't want to get rear ended trying to get onto the highway. welcome! more enablement incoming.
  4. ... that is a head scratcher, my parents had a transfer case in their suburban destroyed from being driven in "AUTO" instead of 2HI which is apparently pretty common with these when they get used on roads that aren't actually slippery.... maybe is doesn't lock the converter in 4WD and the massive amount of drag from the system being oversped, i think our's is rated up to 50 MPH, meant lots of differential between the input and output speeds. i wouldn't be worried about having a chevy truck for towing as our 2500 has served us extremely well and I've never had trans temp issues even towing through mountain passes, but always run it in 2HI.
  5. years back i would often post about my nav and how it randomly loses power, while I'm driving, parked, whenever. hardly any consistency on how it goes off or comes back on. I stopped posting about that after realizing that no one else was having even similar issue, mind you that this started happening in my first year of ownership and the issue has only gotten worse. well it recently has developed an interesting new tick, if the nav is on at the time, when i put the car in reverse i get 1 of 5 reactions. 1. it turns on the backup camera like normal 2. it turns on the back up camera but there are shadow lines running horizontally 3. the nav just goes black 4. the nav goes black but has the gren/yellow/red lines in place 5. the nav screen flashes from black to video to pink chaotically.... i know I'm probably pissing into the wind over here but has anyone else had such an issue? or any issue with their nav they can rant about to make me feel better.
  6. i may have to do this, the plastic piece is starting to peel off on mine anyway. i always kinda wanted to get a raceng or some other weighted knob, but after seeing David Higgins using a stocker i decided it was silly.
  7. I'm assuming this is a new thing? you've been able to set it above that before? definitely sounds like some nannyfication
  8. realize that my fuel dilution on my last analysis was 1.3%... and so that's .065 quarts or 61ish mL of GASOLINE not the 1/2 quart they are talking about of KEROSENE which would be 10% dilution of a substance that isn't meant to be in any part of the engine. that 1.3% would have been a slight concern if it weren't for the fact that my car gets started very cold and warmed at idle hundreds of times per year.
  9. Go for it man, I'll pay for your oil analysis after your next change and if there isn't a high level of copper I'll eat my hat. please no body do this to a GT there aren't enough to go messing them up.
  10. read amsoil's take, engine oils have more detergents in them than ATF since they are meant to be dealing with combustion. maybe its not dangerous to t anyone, but it is potentially pretty dangerous to your bearings. i hate to break it to you but there are plenty of "old timer" tricks that just do not apply to modern engines and modern situations.
  11. WHAT? this seems like a dangerous idea.... amsoil is not with that program https://www.amsoil.com/newsstand/drivetrain-lubricants/articles/transmission-fluid-as-an-engine-flush/ and kerosene will certainly dissolve build up but god knows what it will do to all the different rubber components it'll see. if your that worried about oil contaminants (first off send a sample to blackstone) than use something made to do the job.
  12. I never even considered that they might not be water proof, mine has ended up underwater more than few times, and at 7 years old i still haven't changed the batteries.
  13. even on Evo's those things look like trash. effective in a rally situation? sure, but sleek they are not
  14. check that your grounds on the horns are good. after that you've ruled out the horn switch it self, the relay, and the fuses so the only thing left is the horn itself. if you are really trying to save some dough amazon has plenty of cheap and less cheap options. these hellas are slightly less expensive than the stockers https://www.amazon.com/HELLA-011225802-Black-77mm-Universal/dp/B01C8F0AUY/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=car+horn&qid=1560895388&s=gateway&sr=8-4
  15. actual footage of 4th genners loading their wagons to come to this thread
  16. complaining aside, what was the purpose of that post? you can write your complaints here at https://whydoyoucaresomuch.letthemanvent.com/fuckoff.html
  17. no doubt about it Subaru needs to work on training their Techs better and having some form of consistency when it comes to repairs. each dealership seems to have 1 or 2 trained subaru techs and everyone else may as well be working at jiffy lube. i had an argument the other day with a repair manager trying to convince him that my turbo has coolant lines, not just oil lines. meanwhile this kid drive a forester 2.0XT which has coolant lines to it's turbo... and don't all the new WRX's? and probably at least a few others? I was going to have them change them (because rust belt) while i was in for the air bag recall. well he couldn't figure out a quote, said he would work on it and call me back. no call back, i called again no quote, he also never actually made my appointment... which was booking out 4 months at the time. i don't plan to deal with subaru dealers in the future if i get other subi's they will be used and worked on by yours truly from the start.
  18. I'll second that, my dad has an SS and the thing is an absolute blast to drive, you'd never guess it was so big and heavy. still gotta get that thing to the strip to see how it runs.
  19. FWIW i had to replace both of my front calipers at 85k because of frozen guide pins.... well one was frozen the other one was crunchy, i replaced them with some calipers from O'reilly's because i needed to drive the car the next day and Subaru was closed.
  20. come on those are a sorry excuse for a performance tire, in reality they are just a summer tire because of there tread pattern and has nothing to do with how sticky they are. they were made to last forever not to give any sort of performance, i only had to replaced mine because of an unrepairable flat after having them for 5 years. i have high performance all seasons now and they are so much stickier even with a huge tread pattern disadvantage.
  21. Looks very similar, only real difference i see is there is no bung for methanol injection
