  1. Just waiting for Ashton K to jump out at some point and say you have all been punk'd, yes it is an old reference. But this can't be based in reality. Can it, I mean really?????
  2. Really dude, you going to do this to my wallet... VERY tempted. I'll refrain for a little while.... we'll see if this is still here later.
  3. Sounds good, I need to oven cure the paint (per the instructions on the can). I need to do the same with my brembos I am refinishing. I should have that done very soon, just waiting on the high temp decals to come in. They are black BTW.
  4. I have a pair of brand new OEM outer tie rod ends, and a pair of freshy painted black calipers on hand. They came off my California car, and were removed in favor of Brembos. send me a PM if your are interested.
  5. I have a spare set of brand new OEM steering rack bushings on hand, I can send your way. I ordered the whiteline bushing kit and the 2015 rack had new bushings of course since it is new, so I have the OEM ones sitting in a box somewhere. I got the Perrin lock down kit for my OEM rubber steering link, I don't have any feed back for you on how it works since my car is still on jack stands.
  6. The injector seals are not hard, but are a pain in the butt to access due to some of the brackets in the area. I don't think that is your problem though. Bad injector seals will leak fuel on the engine, and fuel stinks and attracts a lot of dirt and grime so you would likely notice the stuff on the engine. Now take this next part with a grain of salt. I am not sure were the anti-drain back valve is on this car, it might be in the engine compartment, or part of the fuel sending unit. I know the germans liked to have this in the rear so the whole line held pressure. I remember reading specs for different cars, something like (3-5 psi drop per hour was normal) I pulled these numbers out of my ear but you get the point. Just as a point of reference base fuel pressure for these cars is around 40-ish psi and will increase with boost. That is what the mess of hoses and valve are for on the drivers side of the engine bay. While we are on the subject is is also possible to have a leaky injector, but if that was the case you would have a terrible smell of raw fuel when you started the car. Take a sniff of the oil if it smells like gas you might have a bad injector, unlikely, but not impossible.
  7. As someone who is 85% done with this project make sure you get all the little bits too. Those are the ones that kill the momentum. I replaced most of the fasteners, and all the bushings under the car. I also painted a bunch of stuff way over kill but my OCD gets the best of me.
  8. I got a 2005 sedan with black leather, these did not come with the 60/40 folding rear. I managed to get a full upper set, but now I need the lower to finish the conversion. I definitely need this to finish my interior, so I won't waste your time.
  9. I have a set of calipers painted Black ready to go, if you are still on the look out. I just picked up a set of Brembos, and found the best deal for rotors free shipping was Tire Rack as an FYI.
  10. As a former AUDI technician I have my opinions about them. I don’t nor do I plan on owning one if that is worth anything.
  11. So my wife and I might move, and as part of that decision is what to do with the cars we have. The legacy (currently on jackstands) is coming-with no debate there. But the Taurus SHO... that is another story. Nothing wrong with it, but we think it is time for a change. In the very brief google searches of what is available in the market it gets very spendy really quick. That is unless you want a total entry level machine. You want any kind of performance, or interior luxuries and the price skyrockets. Definitely some tough decisions everything is either a cross over, or 50K plus.
  12. I would love to see the carnage now that it fits. Please post some pics of the bumper skin when you have a chance.
  13. You might have fuel pressure bleeding back overnight. There is a valve on modern cars to keep some fuel pressure in the lines for cold starts. You should be able to get a fuel pressure gauge on one of the lines in the engine bay to see the pressure bleed down.
  14. I had my car in storage for a long time in a garage under a car cover in California, and when I took it out the dash was chalky white. Totally freaked me out. Now I have the car in Virginia where there is much more humidity (still in a garage while I rebuild it but the chaulkiness has all but gone away. I did gently scrub it with dawn and warm water a while ago, don't know if that helped in anyway, but it is better now. I might get relocated to somewhere very humid for work, so we'll see how that affects the dash.
  15. If I was not pretty set on some Brembos I would scoop these up. I am semi local, and have the funds on hand. You mentioned these run on stock rotors?
  16. I don't like the reply at all, but I understand it. As a company Subaru is more worried on moving new product versus supporting very old ones. Even the big collectable brands only recently started remanufacturing parts for their older products. Porsche and Jaguar just started making parts for cars they sold 30-40 years ago due to overwhelming demand. Unfortunately our cars will never get that kind of love now let alone in another 10 years. Again I don't like the answer, but it does make sense.
  17. I have heard the the Toyota guys (especially Lexus owners) would use GooGone to get rid of the top layer of paint, or whatever surface coating it is. That should leave you with the base layer of material. I think it is a combination of the texture and colorant used that is breaking down and is causing the stickiness. Removing this should allow you to bond a new cover over it i.e. Alcantera. Keep us posted.
  18. I too am not a fan of facebook I recently reactivated my account to buy and sell parts. I stick to the marketplace and avoid the main page altogether. 10+ years ago it was just pictures of people's lunch and ugly kids, I can't image it is that much different, except they are ugly teenagers now.
  19. Have you had a chance to ride in a car with the Fortune setup? I am leaning in that direction for my car, but would love some first hand experience.
  20. Quick update, mostly because BagRidersJohn is making me look like a total buster over here... I have tinkered a little here and there. I go the 2008+ steering wheel installed, and ran the wires for the media controls all done. I am waiting for the airbag cover that is stuck in customs coming from Canada. I have some money saved up and I am holding off to make another big purchase, coilovers & brembos. Side note I just got word that I might have a chance to relocate for work so that makes everything much more interesting. I am kind of in a holding pattern until I know if that will happen or not. About 5 years ago I moved from the westcoast to the eastcoast and that was mostly a purge and buy all new stuff, we might do something like that again, so that is exciting. In any case stay tuned I do have some plans they are just on pause for now.
  21. That is really cool. If you consider that for a really compact engine bay you can have a remote PS pump and AC compressor that makes your installation much more flexible. Awesome stuff!
  22. For replacing seals yes and no. The only "special tool' You might need is someway to keep the pinion from spinning when you are trying to remove, and re-torque the nut that holds the flange to the pinion shaft. Otherwise hand tools. If you are replacing bearings that is another subject. Then you need a dial indicator and some way to remove the bearings from the carrier, and prob a shop press. For most people this level of work is best done at a shop. Before I sold my Jeep I swapped the differential in that thing to a larger stronger unit with and LSD. I replaced all seals and bearings. I took the pinion and the carrier to a shop, and did the rest myself to include checking backlash. Rebuilding a diff is definitely, and rare thing for most guys to do at home. Not rocket science, but it is just much cheaper and easier to have some one else do it. If all you have is a leaky side seal you can do that on jackstands, if you have some humming going on. Then you should drop it, buy the bits and have a shop rebuild the hole thing and save yourself a lot of headache. Hope that helps.
