  1. 650 seems reasonable to pull a head, replace valve, a little cleaning, new gasket and re-assembly. Sounds better than my quote to replace my rear wheel bearings for over $1k. I was feeling lazy and was going to pay to have it done, till i got the quote.
  2. Good to hear you're still alive and kicking and driving the subie, Alex!
  3. When i first read this i thought you'd written "sunday", and not "someday". Just about shjt a brick.
  4. I didn't need a tool to install my pulley. Do y'all have automatics and can't lock the transmission in gear? Never had an automatic...
  5. I have a video just like that. Have two new rear bearings and axle nuts waiting for some free time. I reset my ecu to get rid of the code it threw. Even though i was sure i caused it driving the car in the air, codes still scare me...
  6. I've got a PPQ 9mm as my first handgun. Only used it at the range, but do have it available for home defense (makes me feel better) in a small liberty safe, hd-100 (got from cabellas). Have a large liberty for all the others. I'd also suggest a 9mm. 22 rifle isn't a bad idea if you live in the country or want to take it out plinking while camping/hunting/etc, but for a handgun go 9mm.
  7. I just want an aluminum caliper and to ditch the slider pins that get stuck.
  8. i have been "meaning to order" 2 rear timkens from RA for a month. hoping mine just fall off, but i already know my caliper bracket bolts need some not-so tender loving care...
  9. my car has just been sitting in the driveway undriven for weeks...
  10. I feel like 08's are finally coming into style!
  11. looks like they haven't perfected the roast chicken flavored ink for packaging yet...
  12. I think that you need "spec b" specific longer bolts to reach through the thicker aluminum trailing arm, vs. the steel arm on normal legacy/outbacks. I also think the front pivot bracket might be specific to the aluminum arms for the same reason. But it might also push the rear wheel a little further backwards due to where the wheel sits in the wheel well on a stock height legacy vs. an outback... also, the local dealership quoted me $800 to get my two rear wheel bearings replaced. holy f. been a while since i tried to get something done at a dealership. they're crazy. $450 to install them? and $350 for 2x bearings? timken it is i guess...
  13. put it on stands and messed with the rear end to find out where my grinding is coming from. looks like 5 years is the change interval for rear bearings. question: what do i need to fit aluminum trailing arms to a stock height OBXT? was thinking of swapping in a mess of things to the rear with some new bearings: rebuilt calipers, new rotors, pads, bearings, rebuilt (new bushing(s)) Al trailing arm, new shocks, new shock mount, new brake soft lines, etc. i think i need: - The longer wheel bearing mount bolts - The front mount bracket? can't use the OBXT one i have, yeah? - anything else... ?

  15. Trade you your oe front axle (5mt turbo? Green cup?) For the mcb. It is vdc. I think we have twin cars actually.
  16. Honestly, i don't have much laying around (hoarded). For future use i've got a subaru-spec sti twinscroll setup modded for stock tmic use, some jdm tgv housings... and that's it! Have more parts i don't have plans for: avo tmic, avo rear sway, gs mcb, extra twinscroll headers and dp...
  17. Well yeah, and his cycle, but that doesn't have anything to do with my 4th gen. Now if this was the WOYM thread...
  18. i have an excel sheet. and when i change or install something, i log it with a gas change (usually a 2 week window). mainly use it to keep track of large MPG changes that might signal an issue and oil change intervals. also helps me keep track of when i did things (last time i changed the rear wheel bearings, etc.)
  19. Lol, i paid more than 15k for mine many moons ago, and so figured i was worse off than you. Probably only spent a few thousand on it since, excluding gas.
  20. 6 speed crammed in a 5 speed gearbox. Edit: as in a 6th gear crammed inside a 4th gen 5mt. Not a 6 speed as we know it.
