  1. its disabling the system checks that throw the codes, and since it's an emissions thing, pretty sure the dealership won't do it for you. without having a good buddy or some big bribe money.
  2. ...interesting... would be nice to switch to 6-speed, improved bearings and cheaper BBS wheels. not that I can justify the expense until my 5MT explodes. subbed.
  3. Any chance the thermal dispersant would be available to non-GS TMIC/FMIC's? Techline coating, I assume?
  4. I've gotta add my two cents here... One day I got to work and parked, and as I was getting out, I saw something shiny at the base of my windshield. I leaned over and found my 15mm wrench sitting with my windshield wipers. It'd been days since I'd worked on it and glad I hadn't done any hard cornering. I'm equally fearful of leaving some wrenches sitting on the engine and either putting a ding in my hood when I close it, or it being loose in there while I'm driving. too bad that won't cure my forgetfulness... I think I need one of those medical trays so I can be sure I pull out all the tools from my patient before I sew her up.
  5. might be a little tight for gloves, and i used the two nut method for the studs. Sent from my XT1028 using Tapatalk
  6. i did it by removing the turbo and loosening a few bits on the passenger side. gotta remove the studs the passenger solenoid sits on. and remove a coolant hose i think. oh, and curse and f around and cut your hands all up and spend a few hours Sent from my XT1028 using Tapatalk
  7. honestly, i'd just replace the entire thing with a reman unit from autozone. only a little more work (if that) and 60 dollars for a nice new axle. unless like someone mentioned before, if it's just a loose boot clamp, just replace the clamp and be done.
  8. Yeah, just dealt with this wagon issue myself. Good info about the airbag light and resistors! I'll see if i can fix that now. Also, you can get a new harness section from subaru for about 50, and then you shouldn't have to replace it for another 4 years (4 is when most seem to start breaking). Still have to take everything apart, but for the peeps who don't solder. I soldered. Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk 2
  9. what's the part number for the seal, from autozone. I don't seem to be choosing the right terms to search on the autozone site. 5mt 08 obxt. ...or I guess they might not sell them.
  10. so i'm a little confused. KStech has the block-off plates for each side of the engine, and then a third plate. Do I need the third plate if I cut my atmo. sensor into a cute little square and zip-tie it to something? or do I need it if I keep my entire solenoid? does that all make sense? also, I didn't buy the third plate, and plan on removing the whole solenoid and keeping the tiny bit for the atmo. sensor. and so I think I screwed up.
  11. I grabbed the pics from NASIOC in case the next person didn't want to wade through 33 more pages. looks pretty tiny after it's all whittled down. now only if I didn't have to take off my manifold and turbo...
  12. hmm, a thick boss. that's a good idea. maybe like the other grimmspeed products, there could be a click down box to add the IAT sensor bung or meth injector location(s). so for less exciting people, we'd have a relatively un-holey TMIC, but there was meat and the option of extra machining. i'm on the opposite side and could care less about an IAT sensor or meth injection. and the less holes to worry about... (not that I wouldn't like to see the option for everyone included) I also like the idea of re-using the stock gasket. wouldn't even need a perfect flange (not that you won't make one).
  13. interesting analysis. can't wait to see where you guys put the "sweet spot" of this TMIC. like you sorta said, you can't go "balls to the wall" due to space constraints, but you don't want a tiny TMIC that the 425hp guys are actually hindered by. but at the same time, where is the TMIC LGT market's sweet spot? not that I have facts, but I suspect most high horsepower applications go FMIC (maybe cause there's no TMIC that meets their needs, but I suspect several other reasons too), but then there are high PSI E85 lgt's too (so can't go too low). And on the other end, where is the point where a common LGT owner decides to get a new TMIC? stage 2+ and beyond? and then goes FMIC at stage 3+? business decision as much as an engineering decision. and is all limited by space. can't wait to see what comes out the other end. I make these decisions a lot, but my customers are internal and thus are more specific and very few in number. don't envy your decision, but do envy what you get to work on and test.
  14. gah, hurry up already! i'm itching to get a larger intercooler and had AVO on the mind. but after the release of the STI TMIC, I guess i'll have to take a break from speed and mods. mixed feelings on that. As for opinions: - i'm in the "who cares" camp of whether the engine cover fits, strut tower braces fit, and having aluminum near the turbo. if you are worried about heatsoak, get a fmic (or coat/wrap/shield...). other than that, lets get some sexy GS TMIC's in these LGT engine bays already! i'll be happy to beta test also. oh, and subscribed.
