  1. I had somewhat noticeable stumbling with a previous tune (bnr16g, dw650s, walbro). To the point that I avoided certain brands of gas because it made it worse. After a re-tune (with multiple revisions, 5EAT requested-torque adjustment, etc), it's much, MUCH better. I have also moved FPR to the intake, have my boost gauge off cyl #4, and did the "$0.16 BPV mod". Probably still there a little, but not really noticeable. Now if only I could get closer to 30 mpg! Pretty sure my tune is running quite rich, but I'm close to getting rid of the car, so I don't really care that much anymore, and I figure it can't hurt anything too badly - nothing like running lean. I also had some real bad stumbling due to a faulty injector pack, but that's a different issue.
  2. I hate to be "that guy", but just because it's in this thread, don't assume it's 100% vetted. If you search the board archives, there are statements by climberd (*THE* 5EAT guru while he was on here) like "there are lots of level 10 horror stories" and by others like: "ipt transmission has had to clean up level10 issues more than once". And then, if that sounds like IPT is the better shop, Msprank of the (sadly) defunct IP&T (no relation to IPT transmissions) had IPT do his 5EAT VB and they basically added a 50 cent spring and charged him a few hundred $$. Which is what led climberd to doing the HexMods F1 in the first place. All this to say: IMHO, major buyer beware on level 10 and ipt for Subaru - do your research and only do it if you feel comfortable.
  3. Yeah, but not for him (YourConfused), because he's listed as 5EAT. As, sadly, am I..
  4. Good point.. I actually have a small (9") laptop for romraider, but I wouldn't want to install that.. RR needs WinXP, IIRC? And it's hit-or-miss with Win7+? Linux might be a better choice.. I have the JDM (empty) bezel, wish there was a turnkey option for a tablet / carputer.. So this screen works with a Pi2 / Pi3? Any android stereo / head units that fit into the space?
  5. Since nexus 7s are getting old and hard to come by.. and I may end up holding onto the LGT for a little longer.. Totally interested in this. Although, would probably prefer to run some kind of android image so I can run btssm..
  6. Golf R is a bit too small for me.. Almost no luggage room. Maybe S3 instead. But, on 91, stage 1 only goes to 334 hp (a gain of around 35-40 hp), which isn't as nice as the 93 gains (360 hp). Based on past VW ownership, I'd be scared shitless of breaking the DSG with 5 hp more than stock
  7. I think the CF driveshaft is mainly for RWDs during hard launches. Some of the tuners are pushing 400+ hp / 500+ tq on stock turbos. Some others are pushing 800+ whp on modified block / turbos. It seems quite possible to break into (high) 11s with some exhaust mods + tune, based on several reports. Mind you, the old 5EAT (now 7EAT with some upgrades) quickly starts to become a limiting factor..
  8. Lots of tuners don't like DW 850/1000 sidefeeds.. Apparently some non-linearity that makes it hard to tune WELL.
  9. Let me know how it goes / who you get to install it. If I go Q50, this is one of my first wants.. (and the reason I haven't gotten a Stinger yet - no LSD in the AWD).
  10. Hmm. I've been following / reading up on q50 from infinitiq50.org, no issues. Then again, I'm not registered, and use Linux so maybe that's the difference? On there, saw that Z1 just released an r190 LSD diff for both RWD and AWD.. Several active facebook groups as well.
  11. Thanks Fred. I keep going back and forth between Stinger and Q50. I do still have track aspirations at some point, but may just use the LGT for that.. It still runs, so I'm keeping it - I'd get like $2k from a trade-in. Although, I guess I might get as much as $5-7k from a private sale, for someone who knows what I have and wants that. Also looking at a couple of used Red Sports around here. I assume you meant 265/35, not 265/95? That'd be SOME tire :-)
  12. Thanks! Appreciate all the comments.. How do you feel about the transmission in manual mode? I know there was some annoyance about it not staying in manual unless you're in sport+ mode or something?
  13. Nice! Any little problems with it? I've been keeping up with Q50 and Stinger developments.. Trying to (most likely) decide between those two as an LGT replacement. Wife says she wants to drive the LGT to work and park the minivan . I've heard rumors about various Stinger issues and so many "Kia dealers are very low-end service wise" stories I believe there's something to it..
  14. How do you find the coilovers? Do you ever change the suspension settings (i.e. the stock adjustable suspension), or leave it in one setting all the time? Still trying to decide between Stinger and Q50, and wondering if the adjustable suspension is worth it and/or I want/need RSRs afterwards anyway. If I don't need the adjustable suspension / paddle shifters, then just buy a Q50 Premium / Luxe or whatever AWD, add RSR, tune + aftermarket brakes.. What wheels / planned tire size(s) are you getting? I've seen some RWDs with 305 or even 325 in the back - would LOVE to find a way to do something like that with the AWD..
  15. Slower than a 2.0T Accord.. Significant brake fade. Not what I'm looking for..
  16. Would you say anything in the tune needs to change?
  17. Thanks. That's what I was afraid of.. I have little enough time as it is. Less time than $$ these days..
  18. Ok, but does any tuner actually support merpmod + flexconverter on a 5EAT?
  19. Any links for merpmod on an LGT? Any tuners that work with it? Seems I could use the Delicious kit + merpmod ECU + (insert tuner) to get a 5EAT with better shifting and flex fuel?
  20. Apparently, merchgod's word is more or less "official" Cobb - see earlier in this thread - and he said MT only. I heard earlier from a tuner who works with Cobb who thought they would do both MT and AT. Of course, the other question is about RT tables in Cobb vs EcuTek vs. open source for the 5EAT.
  21. Hey utc_pyro - are you saying the ECU/load based tuning for '07-09 works just as well as a hexmods, etc, for making more power? So if I wanted to build a flex-fuel 5EAT, I can pick up an '09 and work with that? I've kind of been hunting for an '07, because it has the top-feed injectors, but if '08-09 works.. OTOH, it's mostly open-source tuning, right? I think you said ECUTEK has some (all?) of the tables, but not Cobb?
