  1. So, "Momo" (the '05 LGT wagon), died on Friday.. Horrible crunching noises from the diff.. Finalized the paperwork an hour ago. 2019 GT1 AWD:
  2. OEM Axles - had the fronts replaced with non-OEM, which trashed the front diff, had it rebuilt + F1 installed + OEM axles around 3.5 years ago. Rears were not replaced. Too many issues with the car to bother fixing it (for me): the A/C burbles on both sides due to worn actuators that is really annoying - I hear parts are no longer available, random clunks from the front that are really annoying, CD player is randomly cutting out, windshield sprayers are really weak, paint flaking off various locations, etc. Dropping $2k to get this fixed would be waste, IMHO. I was just hoping to hang on until the 2020 Stinger GT-S or X3M were released.. Alas.
  3. ... and that's all she wrote. Had a flat for severals days, I think (tire was badly worn on the sidewall). I usually notice right away, but somehow missed this one - TPMS would have helped in this case. Like the 5th flat in the last 2 years, no idea why so many.. Not sure if that helped accelerate it, or it was unrelated, but, even after swapping back my oem wheels, there's now a VERY bad shudder/clunk even when just driving down the street.. Just glad I made it home without needing a tow. Probably center diff, even though I had bushings installed 3 years ago, or maybe rear diff (it's been making noise from rear diff area for years under load in a right turn). Anyway, not worth actually putting any more $$ into the car. Watch for the partout thread soon. Will definitely pull: GS TMIC, RCE Tarmacs, Cobb Sways + new bushings/braces Probably: Stock springs cut for Konis (with worn Konis), GS MBC brace, bnr16g + IP&T oil line kit, CNT catted DP, LED headlight upgrade Maybe: uncatted UP, Wilwood front BBK Lots of extra parts as well.. 7 quite new Pilot Super Sport 225/47/17, 6 OEM wheels, 4 Rota 17x8.5 (black with red lip) in rough shape, but hold air, etc. several sets of rotors / pads, new spark plugs, new oil filters, I don't have a ton of time these days, and my wife's going to want the car gone soon - anyone want a parts / donor car in NorCal? Engine runs fine (145k on it, dw650 injectors, Walbro pump, Tech Alliance tune). Super sweet deal if you take everything plus my wife's undying gratitude . I also have a Hexmods F1 valve body, but I don't have time nor inclination to drop the transmission and pull it. If anyone is interested, get in touch, and we'll try to work something out.
  4. For the CNT downpipe, make sure you have a super-compact 14mm crescent or ratchet setup, and/or a 14mm crow's foot. The stud/nut closest to the passenger side is a real PITA. I have both stubby crescent and crow's foot.. Thankfully, I only have to swap it once every 2 years for SMOG...
  5. I think I have the same Willwood setup - yeah, they don't use the entire rotor, and had some issue with squeal, but overall, still way better than stock, IMHO.
  6. Ok, so any more info? In for a 4-clamp set (IC/Turbo and IC/Throttle body).
  7. Car Gauge Pro + elm27 (or whatever it's called - bluetooth dongle that cost like $20-30 on ebay) includes OBD2 readiness monitors that show you the state of every monitor.
  8. You bought with blown turbo? Ouch. As was said - read, read, read. Get familiar with YNASB (you need a new shortblock). Quite possible your engine is blown too..
  9. Why is it just sitting there for 7 years? My dash did get scratched noticeably, they cracked the passenger-side vent and the center cubby. But, it's a dd / IDGAF car, so oh well. Cubby has cracked 5 more times in the last year, plastic is just old. I bought a used vent for $35 off here, and am eventually doing a Nexus cubby install. Just need work to stop being insane. I did it for the safety factor - I daily drive with family, so I didn't want any issues with a faulty airbag. If I was only driving the car a few hundred miles a year forever (or are you planning to drive it more regularly again in the future?) and didn't want them to mess things up, I'd do the airbag bypass like I did while waiting for my turn for the recall and call it a day.. Otherwise, disassemble as much as possible FOR them (remove stereo, cubby, vents, glove box at home) to reduce the risk of them scratching anything. Is it a Cobb flash, or open source? If open source, why not just take your flash device with you, so you can reflash just in case?
  10. $40G ON TOP of the cost of the truck. It should have 750+HP for that, not 455 hp..
  11. There's like 3 in all of CA, all 6 MT. At least, that's what the status was about a month ago.
  12. I would take the Golf R, but it's next to impossible to even find one to test drive around here. Especially in DSG. Plus, that hatch seems SUPER small compared to my MkII GTi 16v, but maybe it's just been too long since I owned it..
  13. Yeah, I meant circumference. My bad, too much on my mind these days.. Please consider a 4-clamp kit only. I've had ZERO issues with the 1.5" clamps, and don't expect to. I mean, if they're $5 for both, sure.. OTOH, have now had each of the larger 4 connections come undone, so those are the ones I'm trying to improve.
  14. Ok, hose on turbo side has both sides right around 7.9-8.0 inches OD. So any clamp that can do 7.75 to 8.5 should be fine (to give a little room for sliding on, etc). Hopefully they have a bit bigger range. I didn't get a chance to measure the IC -> TB side today.
  15. Thanks. Mine popped off AGAIN yesterday (4-6 times this year) at the IC (coming from turbo). It's weird because the previous 2 stints (it's always in 2 year intervals because of SMOG checks), I ONLY had issues at the IC/TB side. This time, that side hasn't had any issues and the input side is popping off.. Will be measuring the turbo/IC side soon. May take a bit more work to measure the IC/TB hose. Don't know if I have time to get to both ends today. Do you want me to measure the hose on or off the flange?
  16. So it looks like dual bead is for sealing tight, and constant tension for having a little flex under strain? Which one would be recommended for a grimmspeed intercooler? Standard dual bead? Also in for a set of 4. Anyone take measurements yet? Gator - you should totally advertise a Grimmspeed host clamp replacement kit for $30-35 shipped or something. Or get them to point people to you or offer an upgrade through you.
  17. Would this also fix logging with RomRaider/VAG-COM cutting out under WOT?
  18. I'm definitely getting the coffee noises. I think from both sides. I'm constantly adjusting temp setting just to keep a semi-stable temp..
  19. Been wondering about that AC actuator.. I might need to do both of them. Sounds as bad as I'd heard. At this point, probably waiting until I get another car so I can slowly rip apart the LGT and do it little by little..
  20. Don't we all? IIRC, Franz leased a 2.0t Guilia. I don't know enough about the model names to know what's what there - TI, Sport, Lusso, whatever?
  21. Wow, Mark, sounds like fun.. You just driving the Guilia now, Franz?
  22. You'd need a plan - because you love it when a plan comes together. Although - have you the got the "promptly escaped from a maximum security prison" achievement yet? You need that first..
