  1. Are there HIR's in H7 or H9 bulbs ? (as in not hi-beams but rather low beams ?) I am of course tempted to buy HIR hi-beams, but then again, what do 50 bucks get me ? I use my hi beams about 5 times a year so I cannot justify the expense. Nope, I am not living on the last 50 bucks but I would rather spend 50 bucks on the low beam HIR bulbs if there is such a thing.
  2. i have mine mounted in front of the 3rd brake light. Good reception.
  3. that screams: break inside please, I have expensive audio-video equipment installed.
  4. Maybe I should comment cause I created this damn thread. I switched to the Osram Hypers at the time when I created this thread: October 2006. They are still running strong. Yes I have disabled the DRLs long long long time ago in 2005 and performed a careful install as to not touch the bulb with bare hands. Beyond that I do not take any special precautions such as turning off the lights before starting the car at night etc. While the first set of bulbs (Phillips OEM) was indeed a poor quality (or more likely a limited lifespan compared to the Osrams), I feel that anyone that is repeatedly burning bulbs has a short circuit of sorts or an otherwise electrical problem on the car - be that running excessive audio equipment which is overdrawing current and causing fluctuations in the current drawn by the light bulbs, defective wiring, alternator etc. I'd be curious to know the R² (Pearson correlation coefficient) between the rates of headlight failure and the following: - aftermarket audio/video/security equipment - overly corroded OEM battery - blown fuses as well as whether the headlights burning is biased (left first or right first or both at once)
  5. These folks are bored with their own state :-))
  6. You gotta trim a little http://dastern.torque.net/Mods/HIRmod.html
  7. This is an exchange between Daniel Stern and I, with regards to upgraded light bulbs for the 2009 Subaru Forester. Hey people. Apologies if this info has been shared before. Here is the copy-paste of my email exchange with Daniel Stern. I will buy without doubts his recommended bulbs. Two years ago he recommended me that I buy Osram Rally +65W for my Legacy GT and those bulbs keep burning bright and light up my nights. So to speak. http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45991&highlight=Daniel+Stern This time I requested again Osram Rally but he suggested that I buy: Narva® 12-volt, 65-watt, 2100-lumen H9 bulb for use in headlamps, driving lamps, and auxiliary lamps originally equipped with H9 bulbs. OEM quality, PGJ19-5 base. DOT-certified and ECE-approved. Perhaps it is just a matter of convenience. Perhaps not. The OEM bulb in the 2009 Forester is an H11. But I listed to him before and I was very happy. Now, the headlight construction differes between all Foresters and the Legacy - we have a different projector design which is superior. Here is the store link: http://store.candlepower.com/h-9.html And here is his email.
  8. I recently suffered a defeat. I tried using Destinator maps and I hated them (the 2D font was too small, voice instructions sucked, I could not get rid of the written direction instructions) - the only cool thing was muting the music and more seamless integration compared to the iGuidance plugin. Hated that, reverted to iGuidance and now every other time I start it up, it would NOT detect my GPS. Should I exit Centrafuse and fire up iGuidance, it would recognize it instantly. I guess I will have to re-install the plugin but I am tired of that now.
  9. Yeah link for the product please. I actually dislike the laptop in my car.
  10. I have mine just behind the 3rd brake light but I have issues down town Chicago. i mean probably most cars will have trouble getting good GPS reception due to the urban canyon but still, there must be some improvement roof top vs tucked behind rear window
  11. I considered that antenna in quest of better GPS reception. I eventually found an external re-radiating antenna as used for many handheld/dashboard mount units. It makes a difference, but I am still at a loss on how to mount that. It has a magnetic base so it can stay on the trunk or the rooftop. But where do I hide the wire ? I am not going to pry it under the rear window rubber seal because water will sip in and that is guaranteed to be a place where rust starts.
  12. How do you like the Destinator maps - if you ever used them, ?
  13. NSFW thank you for the info. All sweet and working. Onto the accelerometer we go !
  14. Just mark the cars with GPS and radios please; single dots, please.
  15. That is why you believe in the gimmick.
  16. 2005 all the way from 2005 till the end of its model !
  17. NSFW ...did you ever get to embed RomRaider into Centrafuse ?
  18. Did any of you successfully insert the RoadRunner Logger into Centrafuse ? I cannot do it. I can do the main form but not the logger and cannot understand why. This beta version here has several dashboard options and hiding of parameters http://www.romraider.com/forum/topic3330.html?sid=aaee84e1763dd59325b035046b4f8d21 Please let me know.
