  1. Congrats! Just got my system back into my car this past weekend, but now my screen isn't working. Hah, there's ALWAYS something to fix!! Still waiting on someone to create a way to interface with the iPod through a front-end, so that I don't have to transfer 20 gigs of music onto the laptop HD (most of which wouldn't play in CF or RR due to being legally purchased iTunes songs with DRM protections). But best of luck to you, keep us updated!
  2. Agreed, the only question is what actually causes the gap (which still seems to be undetermined). Because for me, Ive had and not had the gap throughout installs. Sometimes I have it, sometimes I dont. Still havent figured out why or what causes it. The rubber spacer may fix the issue, but what causes it originally? My car was fine until I messed with it, and only after 5+ disassemblies of that region. Hopefully we can come to some sort of conclusion on this eventually, so that we can all have it gone for good.
  3. Honestly, I'm not sure that weve figured out the problem. Reason being, my car did not come with said gap, and I still did not have the gap after taking apart my radio/HVAC area 5+ times for my CarPC. But, I have the gap now (after a few more disassemblies), and spent about an hour the other day slowly un-installing and re-installing things 1 at a time to figure out what makes the gap. I know that supposedly there's a part that "fixes" this, but if my car didn't have it originally, and does now, I don't think that I have the "wrong" part. It must be fitment of some part of sorts that is throwing everything else off a little bit, which in the end, is enough to create the gap. Honestly, cross your fingers and install it.
  4. Im sorry Sebb. Haha, no prob on the spraybooth idea. Works great for indoors (but open windows are needed) Hopefully we can get this figured out for ya.
  5. Agreed. I think Ive been confused this entire time. I had originally thought that we were talking about ghosting, which I also originally said couldn't be due to shielding, but then we began talking about interference. Lol then I thought that someone had said that it was due to interference, so we went from there. Ghosting is deff. a monitor or signal issue (could also be due to signal loss through solder joints, etc.). How long is your VGA cable? Interference would most likely be shielding issues, or waveform/signal issues if it really gets to that technical.
  6. Hah, Im just yankin your chain. If you get it, maybe you can help me. Wouldnt wanna leave the slackers (miniSTi) out of the loop.... Just kiddin STi, you were my mentor ::tears up::
  7. Dont beat me to it, come on! Just kiddin...either way we're helping future light-nerds out.
  8. That's true. I hate wires...hah. Honestly never thought Id experience these problems in reality. Ive learned a lot about these things, and wavelengths and whatnot, but never experienced them. Couldnt this be caused by the wires not being the same exact length as well? I know that network cables can have issues if the wiring is off as well.
  9. Makes sense I guess. Im assuming that I would still use my shield? The problem is, the AFS front projector piece (front bowl?) has somewhat of a built-in shield. The front piece has only a very small metal piece screwed in as some sort of a cutoff. Im unsure as if the front piece would properly function with our shield shoved in there (as it may be impossible to "replace" the AFS shield) I will take pics so you may see as well. Honestly, if these things can be brighter and more colorful, Im going to blind everyone on the road....as it will look like the Sun is coming towards them, with rainbows around its edges Im 10x more impressed with this setup already, than an Xtec kit that I had in my previous Mazda3 hatch. These things are bright!
  10. Alrighty, will do. When I get my lights apart again, maybe Ill try one more time getting the full AFS to fit, we'll see.
  11. That's weird. One would think that theoretically, spreading the wires in the connector would be better, not worse. Interference is from close proximity, not the opposite. How close are some of the VGA wires from the USB or power wires? Would you be willing to disassemble / desolder these connectors and test out each wire 1 by 1 to find the affected wire? That may be your last resort, but we can continue wracking our brains until we reach that point.
  12. Thanks! Hopefully Ill have the new one in my car soon (maybe tomorrow), and pics of the one in the paint booth as well. ::whispers:: Original bezel may be for sale, stay posted ::whispers::
  13. Lol...I knew I was getting your guys' hopes up without meaning to. I couldn't use the AFS lens holders, because they are an enclosed single piece, and upon no modification would ever fit into the Leggy housing. I could easily swap in the AFS lenses, but they are beveled (bumped like a golf ball as miniSTi put it) You guys mentioned not using these lenses in earlier posts, so I didn't use them. Should I be using them? With the LGT lenses, the color is pure white, with a blueish hint at angles and cutoff. Feedback?
  14. Alright, alright. So these are the pics that I took the first time that I put these in my car. (I have since needed to take them out again to adjust the # of washers, and am still not happy yet / haven't had the time / it's been raining daily). You see the RX330 AFS bowl mated to the LGT shield, Lens, & Lens holder No bracket needed, you'll see how they're held in the pictures. I had to trim them a bit, as you'll see, and I'm sure that you probably had to on the non-AFS as well. So, either I got you guys confused and this wasn't the epiphany that you were all looking for, or, I just found a simple way of doing this. My favorite part, is that for some reason the bowls/lenses bounce on bumps, and they appear as if they have the leveling system / Flicker of OEM HID's. Ive driven with many different friends that noticed both a flicker, as well as the pure white color of OEM HID's. Love them, just need to get them focused correctly. Onto the pictures.... Youll notice....they're attached via washers on the ends of the screws that go into the lens holders. It doesn't look like much, but youd be VERY surprised at how rigid this setup is. All I had to do was get the placement of the bowl correct against the shield.
  15. So...here's two more bezels....A new one for me (making my "old" one available for sale ) and the Red one that you saw before, for a VERY patient user here The bezel below looks much better in person. Unfortunately my GF is away right now, and she has the good digital camera, mine is only 2mp. I put the vents in for pictures (the right vent missing the silver tab on center), and laid my spare screen in for pictures as well (which is what the pepsi bottle in some pics is for, to push against the screen to keep it in place) And now to my homemade Apartment paint booth....You can see that it's pure custom. (Not pictured: Full apartment venting system - OPEN WINDOWS, and Super Expensive Paint Cure Baking System - WINDOW SILL IN SUNLIGHT) Story behind painting in a small enclosed room, my complex's Grounds Manager came to me one day while I was outside and said that I could not paint outside anymore. The funny part, is that Ive been doing this for over 8 months now, and I had a HUGE piece of cardboard on the grass, I did not get ONE DROP of overspray on the grass. So, I've resorted to my own in-home paint booth. This bezel is for a user here, hopefully he'll like it and you'll see it in his car soon!
  16. Agreed, it must be right at either end that's the problem. Would it be possible to somehow use a different connector that could isolate the wires further apart from eachother? I know that this will be difficult due to the VGA having so many wires.
  17. It has to be issues at the actual white connector itself. If I remember correctly, the shield gets grounded when creating a connector like that, but I could be wrong.... Im just thinking of Audio XLR cables. Theres a L-Audio, R-Audio, and shield prong (3 prongs).
  18. Which is what makes me think it's not related to wiring. If you shielded the VGA, it shouldn't be happening....(in theory)
  19. Honestly, this was for you guys tonight. Unfortunately, here in NY, we got rain all day today as well. Unfrotunately, things happened and i broke my phone in half. Expect the pics hopefully tomorrow. Dont give up on me. I dont disappoint (check the CarPC thread). Relax, sorry guys. Keep it together, and wish for a sunny day for me.
  20. Agreed. You have to realize that it is ONLY because of the turbo that it sounds this good. On a turbo motor, an exhaust leak sounds tolerable, whereas on an NA motor (ie: 2.5i model) an exhaust leak sounds like a Civic with a hole in the muffler. Be blessed for your turbo...
  21. Hah...I dunno about that one...depends on the club If its in the US....then yeah...if its in Canada...then just say "eh" and they will rape you for free...honest Tomorrow...tomorrow...I'll love ya tomorrow....it's only a day...a---way...
  22. Awww dammit. Missed the 12am mark. It rained all day today. Wanted to take more pics while I had them out and toying with the washers. Expect them tomorrow, seriously.
  23. You dont scare me Mr Luv...Ive met you in person! JK, dont worry, be happy.
