  1. Nope, wouldn't mind at all. I'm using the original drivers as well. I would prefer not switching GPS receivers (as mine is snuggly tucked away deep inside my dash), but it really does bother me, because it's really the ONE single thing that keeps my system from operating how I want. It's embarassing when I go to show the system to a friend, family, etc. and having to restart due to the GPS signal not updating and saying "This has never happened before...." The other issue I have is that Im using a Ground Loop Isolator, and I think that it's killing my bass signal. I read that it tends to flatline the sound coming through it, and you really lose some clarity. So I might try removing that and hope that I dont have ground loop noise. Last problem is that my CarPC sound isn't as loud as the CD is. When I hook my iPod up to the JazzyMod, it's louder than an average CD. But my CarPC, for some reason, is quieter than a CD. I would like to use it for all of my music purposes, but if I'm going 80mph with the windows down, I have to use a CD to really get the punch that I'm looking for. It's weird, it's loud don't get me wrong, but past like Volume 20, it just distorts, doesn't really get any louder at all.
  2. Yeah. Unfortunately it's technically an "exhaust leak" and does commit "noise pollution" or something of that sort. Although, back in my Honda days, I had a Civic with a full Comptech Sport Header-back exhaust system that passed inspection....weird
  3. PM sent Sebb I cant believe that I STILL havent taken pics of my new (3rd Revision) setup. Maybe this will inspire me to become photogenic. Sebb, are you having any issues with recovering the GPS signal upon resume after hibernation? Im using the BU-353 and iG3, but if I have iG3 open when the system hibernates, when the system resumes at a later time, it's a toss-up whether or not the GPS Module is re-recognized. Seems some guys have the prob, and some don't. It's supposedly a problem with either USB re-recognition (which I don't believe as everything else works fine) or the GPS signal not getting re-recognized, being a software (probably iG3) issue. Haven't found a good "fix" for this yet.
  4. Sebb, You willing to share that skin? I'm not gonna lie, I just gave in and purchased Centrafuse (because my trial FINALLY ran out) But that skin looks like the sex...very non-cluttered like you said, very functional. I'm also not happy with the iG3 plug-in for CF, and yours seems to suit it better. Any ideas when yours will be ready for trials?
  5. Yeah. I'm thinking that you mean emissions instead of inspection? (Unless they do emissions and inspection at the same time) In MD, we only have to get the car inspected within 30 days of planned selling, BUT emissions has to be checked every 2-years (which is the OBDII connection that you speak of) But, guys, PLAY IT SAFE at inspections and remove the washers. It only takes a few minutes. If it's your first time removing them, replace them with stainless pieces when your put them back on (Bolts, nuts, and washers). You WILL thank yourself later.
  6. Yup. Knock out the rusted bolts, replace them new. I didn't, and I'm kicking myself because my joints/bolts were beautiful when I did the mod originally, and now they've seen an Upstate-NY winter and look like yours. I'll be replacing them soon, just too lazy. And Canon, if you're worried about future rust, you could get really anal and grind/wire-brush the current rust off of the joints. Then you could seal the spots with some sort of sealer or engine paint. Not sure how well that would work, but might give you peace of mind atleast hah.
  7. Agreed. Rust isn't "damage" until it's really doing damage. Right now, that's purely cosmetic rust. The only hurt that that kind of rust could actually do is exactly what it's doing right now, sealing that joint and keeping those bolts staying-put. Bad for hogzawst, not bad in reality. PB blaster that to heck, be patient, and get a breaker bar. You'll get it, don't worry!
  8. It probably does...STi's only sound nice with expensive exhaust systems. Otherwise, they sound like any old WRX hah! LGT "Family-Sedan" FTW!
  9. True. I'm going for retaining the stock pipes, so CBE isn't the route for me either. BUT, if I were to go down that route, I'd probably go with afttermarket mid & y-pipe, and keep stock mufflers. AND......Hoggggggg the y-pipe to retain the sound
  10. As many washers as you can fit (AKA straight pipes). The larger the space, the louder it gets. Tone stays pretty much the same (depp burble sound comes from our header, not anything after that) Keep us updated!
  11. Is that a good thing? I dont mean that sarcastically, just wondering. Neither one of those cars sound ANYTHING like a boxer motor, and taking any of that boxer sound away would make me want to sell the car... But then again, the sound of equal length headers alone would make me want to sell the car (because of complete loss of boxer rumble). But, thats an argument taken among many other threads. To each his own. If you like it, more power to you. Honestly, I'm still hogged versus getting a CBE because I honestly think it sounds better than any CBE I've heard yet. I'm not willing to spend $600-800 to LOSE this sound and gain maybe 5whp. People say that some CBE's sound like this, but I don't think it sounds close enough. If any system kept this sound, I'd think about it. Still the best....FREE WASHERS....I've ever spent
  12. Congrats! What type of screen do you have?
  13. Wow, looks really great! Few things, why did you make a switch for the screen? Couldnt you have set it to auto-on, and then if you don't want it on, you could just use the remote to turn it off? Also, not sure if you tested this on the bench, but you might experience slowdown issues with having your GPS attached to a USB Hub. This happened with me, that's why I say that. I had my GPS pugged into my hub, and when I turned on the GPS, my computer really bogged down for some reason. Once I gave my GPS receiver its own dedicated USB cable, my issue went away. But then again, every setup is different, so you might not have any issues to begin with.
  14. Yup, I passed wires at the same place. I said I used 12awg, but could have been 10 as well. I did the same, ran 2 big wires to the trunk. I used copper eye sockets to attach to bolt on battery.
  15. AFAIK, just run a 1"+ wire out of the DB, and then solder the 18awg wire to that. I could be wrong, but don't see why that wouldn't work. But then again, Im not an Electrical Engineer. What PSU did you choose to go with?
  16. Actually, now that I think about it, I might try my audio without the ground loop isolator. Ive always had it in there, never tried it without to even see if I was having any ground loop issues. Ive read that ground loop isolators really kill the low end. Im experiencing that right now. I went from ipod->jazzymod and it had CRAZY bass. Now I have CarPC->Ground Loop Isolator->Jazzymod and the bass is VERY tight, no real lows anymore. I want my bling-bling rattle-rattle bass back hah. Really, music just isn't the same without the low end. I GUESS I could get the OEM sub to even it out and keep the GLI, but I'd be spending extra money for what I was doing before for less...
  17. I used 12awg wire, with an inline fuse about 6" away from the battery. Im at work so I cant give you the amperage right now, though. Use an automotive fuse holder, and that should be "heavy duty" or something to that affect. It'll have 12-14awg wire coming out either side (if you buy from Radioshack). I did not use any distribution blocks. I ran power straight to the battery, grounded to the chassis right infront/below the fuse box, and used a ground loop isolator for audio. I have no whines or interference.
  18. Thats false advertising, that made me mad when I saw that. It fits 2005-2006 Legacy 2.5i's, not LGT's. 2.5i's are able to remove the radio and replace with a double-din, but we cannot. This unit IS NOT bolt-in compatible with LGT's. You need a cubby bezel made for your screen and then you must mount the computer somewhere. If you end up going down the cubby route, PM me, I have an extra ready-to-install screen bezel.
  19. awww....this is the only reason why hog has fame...(and his infamous arguments with a catted uppipe and drill) haha.... either way, I will still wear my stainless washers with pride! It was nice knowing you all!
  20. Thankfully the turbo creates all the needed backpressure in our exhaust systems. Doing something like this on an NA Car (IN THEORY) could create issues. Nothing major of course, but any alterations to the flow on an NA car that is not accounted for in the stock mapping could throw things off. Thats why, I'm loving the $0.50 exhaust system on my Leggy, that sounds better than the $800 system on my previous car, heh.
  21. have you tried sending the VGA signal from the CarPC mobo to another output? (ie: CarPC -> Computer Monitor) Then, you might find that its the mobo that's bad. Can't remember if this was said; any chance its improper refresh rates, or something of that nature, that is incorrectly setup on the mobo?
  22. I dunno, if I'm going to spend that kind of money on exhaust I'd rather like the sound as is for the cost. I know that you'll get the added performance, and then you can "hog it" to get the sound...but I don't know. If I was looking for performance & sound, I'd leave my stock CBE "hogged" and just get an electronic cutout. Then, I can have power on-demand, but still have the sound I want elsewhere, all for less than half the price. But then again....MR is a nice system...::frown::
  23. Buy some PB Blaster and spray those bolts every few hours. Then, let it sit overnight and tackle it the next morning. If that doesn't work, you'll need new bolts (and have them taken off). Replace them with stainless and you're golden.
  24. Hah. Well honestly, I ALMOST got out of this said hobby until JUST recently when I got everything back in the car and working again. Im on my 2nd bezel, and this one looks DARN near OEM, if not better. Computer starts up quick, Navigation is on the dime (no lag), screen comes on with car, etc. (Obviously nothing new for you guys, but finally mine works as it should) So, Ive pulled myself back into this, might as well drag you down with me!
