  1. This is what it should look like.....a local guy has this one.
  2. With a redneck standing in the doorway
  3. I did the same thing right after I got this Legacy a few years ago. I figure it increases the airflow a bit to the bottom of the radiator but mostly for me it just looks better.... Great minds must think alike
  4. Funny that none of us ever thought of this before....might be worth a try??
  5. Is that Twilight Blue Metallic or just the dark blue they use? Looks good
  6. The owner calls it "The Land Crab" https://thelandcrab.tumblr.com/
  7. Waiting for a bird to fly by too close!
  8. MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone....and stay safe in the coming year!!
  9. I used Motul in my Impreza RS my STi and my LGT sedan back when I had them....really good stuff.
  10. I'm not so much into the "wagon life" but here's a pic from a Subaru meet a few years ago......... Local guy had done the lower and mod out an Outback to be as much as possible like a Legacy wagon...not my dream ride but it looked pretty cool. Always happy to do a bit of enabling
  11. When I started racing Motocross (Back in the day) motocross sidecars was a big deal..... we used to watch them as we waited for our own heat races to come up....scared the crap out of me just watching them.
  12. So much easier to catch this way
  13. Must be training to be city workers....10 guys watching one guy dig a small hole
  14. Don't you just hate it when you do something like this right at the wrong time and place??
  15. Thanks Joe....no powder coat at this shop. They do a complete strip and any repairs needed then 3 part paint to the desired color. I looked at powder coating a few years ago when the wheel finish was trashed by Costco and even the shops I spoke to didn't want to touch OZ rims....same problems with the heat issues. I started using Greens for all the machine work back when I was racing sports cars and rallying...great outfit...Just not cheap https://www.greensautomotive.com/ This will give you an idea how long they've been working on my cars....this is a pic of me in an autocross 54 years ago and those are a set of wheels made by Greens for my TR-3...also fabbed up most of the suspension bits and a few of my engine mods. PS....should have added that my timing was impeccable this time....weather forecast was what got me off the couch on this.....got up this morning to about 4" of wet west coast snow
  16. Well....the weather is changing up here in BC, forecast for tomorrow is mixed rain and snow so I decided it was time to switch the wheels and tires over to my Nokian snow tires. This also coincided with my decision to have the OZ rims refinished due to the issue with matching the paint color after Costco screwed up one of me rims. They slobbered bead seal all over the one rim and then tried to clean it off with some kind of solvent (my guess) so I had tried to repaint it to match the rest, but it was never quite right and this past year some of the paint started flaking off....UGLY! I contemplated switching to WRX/STi gold and Humble Rumble was kind enough to photoshop a picture for me to get a look at my car with gold wheels.....looked good. After some serious thought I decided to stay with Brilliant Silver as the center caps are chrome and the pin-stripe line on my car is silver to match the wheels. Dropped the wheels off today and will get them back next week so they can sit in my basement until next spring.....Not cheap but I couldn't stand looking at the miss-matched rims any more.
  17. Hey Humble....thanks so much......that second one looks great! We have a great wheel refinishing shop near me....been in business for over 50 years (As a hot rod shop etc etc ) they have done work for me for decades but never wheel refinishing before. I dropped in to see them yesterday for some ideas.....Strangely enough getting my OZ's redone in the original bright silver is almost twice the price of doing them in gold or bronze....go figure? Food for thought Thanks again.
  18. I have tried that but they don't have my car color any more (Twilight Blue Metallic) and I haven't found any wheels on there that look like mine and are available in golf or bronze.
  19. Got a favor to ask anyone who is handy on Photoshop or any other similar program. I am looking at getting my OZ rims refinished over the winter and am thinking of changing the color to gold... similar to the color on Sti or WRX wheels. Can anyone 'shop this picture to show me what that might look like before I spend a bunch of money just to find out? Thanks
  20. Interesting to note that the valve stem relief cut-out is just a few inches above that "Nifty" little fix!!
  21. Again.... what could possibly go wrong??
  22. Like they say...."You can tell someone's true intelligence by pointing a camera at them"
