I'm throwing in my recommendation for Rick here as well. I took my 05 LGT to him when the turbo went and he rebuilt the motor and was very, very helpful and knowledgeable before, during and after the rebuild. He went out of his way to make the experience as easy and cost effective as possible for me.

Thanks Rick!

Currently in the shop I have a 2005 LGT that came in back in January for a combined 90k/120k service, and at which time we also performed a compression and leak-down test.

Results were:

Cyl #1 - 140PSI (1st test) - 140PSI (2nd test)

Cyl #2 - 135/140PSI - 135/140PSI

Cyl #3 - 135/140PSI - 140PSI

Cyl #4 - 115PSI - 115PSI

Leak-down on cylinder #4 was in the 15-20% range, and air could be heard escaping from the turbo inlet. The customer decided to drive the car while he saved up for a rebuild (plus a bunch of upgrades) and ended up dropping the car off in May to be fixed while he was away on business.

Here is what we found in cylinder #4:

And how would you know that? I thought you only dealt with blown-to-a-million-bits engines

ooooh, long before the blown-to-a-million-bits engine I was studying at the school of cracked ringland. After this next rebuild I hope NOT to attend the school of spun bearing or frankly anything else that these pesky Subaru's tend to like to do rather than run nicely and behave.

I know nothing about any build... I threw away the blown up parts. Most of them had holes which suddenly appeared shortly after I heard a sort of muffled 'bang' sound while driving. Other than that, the car has sat with a big space in the engine bay since last Summer. Other priorities, for now.

Delivered this '12 WRX yesterday. The car came in with 47k on the odometer, running stage 2.

Modifications performed:

Rebuild shortblock with Wiseco pistons, Manley rods, King XPG bearings, ARP studs, etc.

Refresh cylinder heads (valve job, lash adjustment, etc)

Clean and rebuild intake manifold assembly and throttle body

Install Perrin inlet, GS EBCS, and ID1000 injectors

Install Blouch Dom1.5XTR

Install PW TMIC & shroud

Install DW65c

Install ACT HD clutch kit and new OEM FW

Eager to see what it puts down when BrenTuning gets their hands on it in a few weeks!

Yea. I thought you bought it by the way you worded it for some reason. And the car looked familiar.

Hey spc. That is my car that Rick worked on. I'm sure it looked familiar because I used to live in Worcester :p but now moved to Natick. Rick did a fantastic job and cannot recommend him enough. Had a few delays in the build but mostly from my lack of research and parts . If he's happy, I'm happy. Only 860 miles to go... :spin:

ps. Great pics! my engine bay looked rougher than i thought. lol
