BadTrainDriver
Yes, the 3.6R has 225/50/17, but the 2.5 has 215/50/17. Why, I don't know. I wasn't there in the decision making. So, if he went with 215/50/17, he is staying within spec No. That makes no sense, logically speaking. That's like saying he should use 5 quarts of oil...because it's within spec of the 2.5i. Besides the fact, aren't you a hater of "within specs" anyway? It's right in your sig line! I'm not saying the size he chose won't work, I'm saying there is a size that would have been a better choice. That is all.

There are folks that are or have run larger diameter tires than what you suggested just to fill the fender well. I'm just saying...it's within spec! 9thwonder
Yes, narrower is better. I understand that. What I don't understand is why you'd want a shorter tire. If you did the "narrower" tire conversion correctly, you should have gone with a 215/55R17. The 215/55R17 has both a narrower tread than the 215/50R17, and is slightly taller than the 225/50R17. Specs: 225/50R17 Stock = http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Blizzak+WS70&partnum=25TR7WS70&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&tab=Specs 215/50R17 Your snow = http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Blizzak+WS70&partnum=15TR7WS70XL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&tab=Specs 215/55R17 Should have gone with = http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Blizzak+WS70&partnum=155TR7WS70&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&tab=Specs Well, why would I want a taller tire? I don't think there is any benefit to having a slightly taller tire rather than a slightly shorter tire other than cushioning. What is your definition of doing a "narrow tire conversion correctly"? Because if you will notice, the size I chose is actually closer (percentage wise) to the factory tire size. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v686/Thirty_Four/tirecalculator_zps81d86284.jpg
Ellesedil
The "extra cushioning" is why you want a taller tire in the winter. Going with a shorter tire increases the chance of damage to your wheel when hitting a pothole (probably because you didn't notice it) at speed. BadTrainDriver
Why would you want a shorter tire than stock for winter time? One benefit to the 55 series is exactly what you said, sidewall cushion...and the other is a overall height increase. The other benefit to the 55 series is the thread is even more narrow than the 215/50R17 that you chose. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Blizzak+WS70&partnum=15TR7WS70XL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&tab=Specs If you look at the 215/50, the tread width is 7.2". The 215/55 tread width is 6.8". Lastly, the stock speedometer is off "fast" from the factory, and doing a smaller radius only makes it worse(your adding miles faster than you should). Being taller, the 55 series would damn near "correct" the speedometer. I'm sorry I even said anything, I really wasn't trying to be confrontational. The size you choose will be fine, and really...we're talking very small amounts of difference anyway. You've got a great looking car! Please post some more snowy pictures when you can! Meh, like you said the difference is so small its negligible in my opinion. I suppose a taller tire wouldn't have hurt anything but I won't be losing any sleep over it. More pictures you say? Wrightizzle
OFF-TOPIC! I am actually looking at getting my first REAL camera soon, I never can find one I think is good enough to capture the images I see lol. I want to get a DSLR but I am new to the scene of photography and think a point and shoot may be better. PM me if you have any advice on what to buy for my first camera please! Hanger
I've actually tried to look them up before I ordered Work. Couldn't find who made them back then. They're cheap enough. Might get them to switch it up in the future. Edited December 18, 2013 by Hanger ○ ○ ○ Instagram: itshangertime :spin: ○ ○ ○

Might get them to switch it up in the future. here's an e-mail response i got from one of the reps (Tong): Ok, let me assist you. What kind of car would these be for? Our VRC-13's were never pre-made with 5x100 lug patterns. But we had blanks that are not drilled, milled, or finished that we used on previous 5x100 orders. They came in 8.5", 9.5", and 10.5". Unfortunately we're all out of the 9.5's and only have 8.5's and 10.5's left. If you would like an 8.5" and 10.5" setup then we could do that? The cost is $1500 a set + CA tax + $150 a wheel to custom drill them to your lug pattern, mill the disk height to achieve your offsets, and finish them in a single stage powder coat color. Let me know if this is something you're interested in. Tong Phan Sales Manager Email: tong@vipmodular.com Direct: 1-949-335-5599 Ext.
