I bought the car back in 2008 with 9k on the odo. Soon as I got it I was already changing stuff around to make it faster, it started out with a intake and some 04bbs goldies. Well back in January of 2011 my engine popped on me. I had just paid the car off in full about 6 months prior. So the motor build started. It started off with just a simple rebuild with some forged piston. Then it got a bit out of hand I was ready to build a monster with a stock location turbo. So onward with the heads cams high compression pistons etc etc. so the motor was built I got it back and after 173 miles it popped. So back to the shop it went until September 2011. I finally got it back after another few grand was dumped into it. I drove it for abor 2000 miles then the 5speed crapped out on thanksgiving weekend. So then I began purchasing all the parts for the 6mt swap into it. Got it all together in my garage and it wouldn't start. So off to the shop. I got it back for st patties day weekend and off to the dragstrip i went. I was hopping for a 12 sec pass, anywhere in the 12's and I was gonna be happy. First run out I shattered the record for legacy gt 1/4 mile times with a 11.668 @124 prior fastest legacy ran a 12.094 @118. On my third run out something popped and I was hoping it was the new clutch but act claims the clutch is fine. So at the shop my car sits as of today. Soon as I get some money saved up, since I'm in school right now im gonna go for 10's. My next planned mods are a radiator, intercooler sprayer, meth injection, header, and on down the line I'm gonna go rotated with a 35r sized turbo. Also will be doing brakes and some much needed suspension ASAP! http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/jmorris6689/f456a489.jpg http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/jmorris6689/2c5eaa80.jpg http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/jmorris6689/e24288e6.jpg http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/jmorris6689/ed6618b4.jpg Second run out I was told to slow down since I didn't have a helmet, so I just dumped it from about 6 grand [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK9EG3033Yw&feature=youtube_gdata_player]06 legacy gt vs c6 corvette - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPcpYRITy8U&feature=youtube_gdata_player]06 legacy gt gs power division cams - YouTube[/ame] http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/jmorris6689/4195bcdd.jpg http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/jmorris6689/6a1efe2f.jpg Edited April 18, 2012 by jmorris6689
StoplightAssassin
Awesome! You definitely need a stiffer suspension setup though.
jmorris6689
Yea I haven't decided if I want to go with coilovers or just some nice shocks
bnguyenbb6
Have you simply tried race gas on that turbo? IIRC, my buddy ran mid to low 10's at 134mph on a rotated 30r. Its similar sized. Also a full weight STi.
jmorris6689
No I haven't tried race gas yet
underground000
Sounds soo diff with those cams I'm guessing and stock UEL headers 5eat downshift rev match:) Powder coated wheels: completed:)
ColdBore
Just curious, gas millage?
jmorris6689
Yea it's the stock exhaust manifold. The cams make for a really awesome choppy idle sometimes, I personally like it. It is also nice to be able to rev the engine over 8000rpm. And gas mileage is better than stock, when im not driving it very hard, my guess is because the turbo is big enough to where it isn't spooling everytime you get near the gas. But the way I normally drive, well my gas mileage is absolute crap, like 10 city and maybe 16 highway. But I did not build this thing with fuel economy in mind. I'm all about some smiles to the mile!!
underground000
I like the sound too, reminds me of my friends old muscle cars and the choppy idle 5eat downshift rev match:) Powder coated wheels: completed:)
1055
Do you have dccd on your six speed? Just a thought but a buddy of mine shaved almost a quarter of a second off his time by biasing the rear. He thought it was a fluke at first.. but it was a consistent change when gone back and forth.
jmorris6689
No dccd is on my to do list, it's at the default setting of 35/65 split

Max Capacity
Why only a 35r why not go a little bigger ? We had a GT3576R on a 1.6L. You know you will need a roll bar once you hit 11.50 then it's more bars when you get faster. Ten's is not cheap... 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. jmorris6689
I've thought about going bigger, but a 35r in a rotated setup really isn't that laggy. And this is still a street car. But yea I don't really want to have to cage it, but we will see how it goes.

kongzilla
I can't believe they let you run with no helmet. Thats crazy.... Looks like you can achieve low 11's or even high 10's in your current power setup. This is what you may need to get into those goals. -Improve in your launch with a 1.7 60' -stiffer suspension/or preload on the launch so your not dipping your rear end so much off the launch -street slicks I always believed that when you are running at the 1/4 track, you should run it in the same setup as you are running on the street. That is the only way to really prove that your car is that fast on the street. The track may shave a few hundred of a sec off but that's nothing on the streets. You see cars that run low 11's and high 10's at the track all the time but they are fully gutted and they run on slicks. But once they are on the street, they are running shitty tires and full interior. Thats the difference between street and track.
