Fabricate one. -There's a very good thread on diyma as far as materials.

Ha, I understand. -It's not always perfect nor will it ever be, but it's pursuing it that makes it

Ha, I actually "lol'd" when I seen the IDQ >>>>> Love to see a picture of that. You know, I have a few Dayton's if you wanna trade:rolleyes:

 throw up a link for the mat and i'll consider it but i don't feel like at a few weeks from 28 i have grandparent status to roll around with carpet on my dash hahahahah.

well this system is my end all, only thing in it i'm willing to swap out will be the headunit and that's just because i'd LOVE to have the kenwood excelon double din that thing is just soooooooooo pretty.... and well being reaaaaaaaally old i often wish the eclipse did some things that newer units could lol.

pictures below lol. i had two idq's that i was going to put in my car instead of a single idmax... then i said screw it and bought another max. which case i sold one q and then said hmmmm why not put one in my house  i've got it on little 1.5 or 2 inch (been a while since making it) "feet" to prop it up off of the floor, then the whole box sits on top of another sheet of mdf so that it has something to deflect off of instead of the carpet just sucking it all up. i like it for a handful of reasons... one it's tuned really low so there's no loud bass that is just hearing... it's more of feeling everything in the home. shakes the floor and my windows on the back wall pretty well lol. i normally get compliments on it since it's not overbearing while being able to feel it plenty.

all mdf, double stacked speaker wall with a cut around the port which you can make out here. i took some rattle can flat black and just sprayed the whole mdf enclosure. i don't have wrapping ability so i went with a desperation move lol.

edit... almost forgot... on trade... i've never heard daytons in person. however, i kinda love what i've done a bit too much to give it up hahahah. my local go to for focal and audison hit me up about focal home a few months back. i wont lie it perked my curiosity although even at a good deal their stuff is costly for low end. he did tell me that they offered him a trip out to the factory to see and listen to everything even those 250,000 dollar a pair towers they make.

frk... i originally had something different done in the trunk behind the seats, although it took up a good deal of the trunk space itself. (image linked under here) good luck with 8s in the door lol my damn 6.5"s were too deep for the front doors of the legacy. they'd either hit the window or would end up hitting the damn door panel ahhahaha i've actually got them in temp boxes under my legs in front of the front seats right now. which surprisingly enough sounds really damn good, not the most comfortable spots ever... but it's a trade off i suppose.

hmr... uhhhhhhh yea... not going 5.1 in this car, hell i don't think my old ass headunit even supports it lol. if i ever watch a dvd in my car it's usually a tv show that way i don't focus on the screen itself... just play something like sealab 2021, harvey birdman or something else i know the scenes well enough to not need to look ahhahahah.

Already have 8"s in my doors.. just want to redo the whole panels :)

but.... but.... they're ugly.... lol!

unless there's something out there i haven't seen before... (thinking carpet on the dash here lol)

i've come to the realization a long time ago my car will never be quite perfect although i think it's fairly good.

i actually love my home audio far more then my car anymore. which is sad...

pioneer elite receiver

definitive technologies mythos one towers

mythos seven center

some earlier model bipolar rears

and a image dynamics idq 12" sub in a home made ported box with a 500 watt plate amp ahhahah. got it firing down into the floor (port and speaker)

I never finished my home audio setup.. so far what I'm working with is as follows:

Denon AVR-987

A/D/S L790 towers

Klipsch Center

Klipsch 10"

Klipsch Cube rears..

Still need to figure out what I want to do for sides

And btw.. dayton makes some nice budget equipment

kevin... seriously??? they must be more shallow then the focal 6.5s. i can't even fit them in my front doors. need to have a 1 1/4" spacer to get an 1/8th of an inch clearing the window to roll down, then it'll hit the door panel lol. did you have to do anything fancy to get them to work in the front doors?

used to love klipsch back when i sold some car/home audio back about 10 or 11 years ago. when things started to sound more and more metallic i lost interest but they still make a damn fine speaker. how do you like the ads gear? dunno anyone with anything from them either.

hmr... it turned out alright. when i first started to make the box i figured where it'd get tuned to i'd end up hating it but thought well if i don't though i'll want it to look semi ok even though it'll hide behind everything. most have no clue it's even there until i say something. i've had a handful of people all... good lord that much bass from those towers??? which is always good for a laugh.

Nice setup but I've never understood why people buy nice HT gear then use an entertainment stand that looks like it came from their grandparents house.

awd... lol mine looks like that because i built the tv/entertainment stand. kthx :D nothing i found that was fair priced that i even came close to liking the look of or going with the old ass wood work in the home i bought.

kevin... lordy those are some big ol towers lol. you're also a lucky bastard with the shallow speakers. wish my damn 6.5s were semi near that. and 30 bucks for a center??!?!?!? talk about stealing hahahhahaha! nice pick up on the old school klipsch they were soooooo great back in the day.

oh and did some more sanding tonight, had to do some touch up stuff and add a few bits of more fill where some stuff didn't set up right from last time. (guess i didn't get all the bad bits off of the thing)

i'll do some trimming on the driver pillar tomorrow, then see about filling in the void i end up cutting out. i think i'm going to need something there to build the body fill up with... not sure what to use quite yet.

Props for building it yourself but why not stain it the same color as your trim work and build some doors for it? You've clear got skills but your sub box has more style than your entertainment stand. :p

trim in the home? i have no idea what the color of it really is... home was built in 1910 or something like that lol. i didn't want doors actually, wanted it free to vent out the front since i closed up almost all of the rear. even if i bought something i'd want it to not have doors ahahhahah! i'm not a fan of black though if that's what you mean for stain, tv trim? hell either way... it does what it's supposed to do ahhahaha. holds my shit and keeps the tv a couple feet off the floor lmfao.

alright finally getting close to finishing the pillars. got the holes finished, back filled both (one curing now) and sanded one down and already test fitted fine. shouldn't be noticable since it's on the bottom of the thing and fairly close to the dash. i should final sand them tomorrow morning then give a call to the guy that'll cover them for me and i'll see when he has time to meet up with me to get them covered. i'm guessing about a week since i really doubt he'll have the same fabric i need in house, but we'll see. then no idea how long it takes to dye match either...

well after two months i've got the pillars back. had to settle for black with what the guy had at his distributors as well as his own abilities. maybe down the line (when this build is closer to done) i'll consider getting them wrapped from someone else. since this was a family friend i more or less paid for material and nothing more so i can't bitch too much on the outcome. the work is good, color just isn't my thing. black is well... boring to me... and this nylon cloth has a good bit more shine to it then i'd really like. but... it works, kinda settles in place alright with the black bits around it.

the black on yellow bits of the speaker does look quite nice lol. the tweeter isn't pushed in all the way since it's pressure fitted. wanted to get everything hooked up and aligned before shoving shit in place lol.

also think i've got a fairly solid game plan for the amp rack cover which will have vents, hinge for access, fan mounts, channels for the wires to flow from one end to the other, and mate with the stock cloth bits. i'm saying screw it and throwing an mdf "floor" in place. will be heavier then what i'd like but hell not like i haul ass anywhere anyways :rotfl:

pillars are in, i don't have enough left over mdf for the sub rings and the trunk cover idea i've got... sooooo trying to figure out which i'd like to do first or if i'd like to change cover ideas.

whelp back from the grave again :rotfl: it's been too hot to really do much to my car so it's slow going. i needed a trunk cover for next weekend (hosting a gun shoot so i need my trunk to transport guns easier lol). after i got done driving around the bobcat leveling the shooting lanes i said hell with it and started making the thing. Right now it's just 3/4" mdf the "grill" is 1/4" wide holes and there's obviously a few of them... i missed one on the right side that i apparently didn't draw a line for. noticed it after i cleaned up and saw it was about to rain outside sooooo i figured i'd do it later. i drove around for about 40 minutes last night while pushing the system a bit to see how it'd vent without fans and it did better then i had expected honestly. i'll mount the two stinger cage fans to the thing and wire them up after while... i need to pick up a toggle switch to turn on and off the fans as well. i'll end up getting this thing carpet matched to what's in my trunk, nothing special done... i will also end up throwing on some hinges to the two parts and securing them down.

lol found my threads i see...

nah i the thought of selling was a good what 3 years or so ago? i don't know what i was thinking at the time... probably something to do with less debt for buying a home. needless to say i'm glad i didn't sell it.

thanks too... been a lot of work and i've got a good deal yet to do.

Naw dude it looks clean. I like it. I'm stock right now so seeing other modded Leggys makes me wish  I will lower it this next spring though, and add some 17 Drag dr-9 rims.

I was reading about your audio set up and I have to ask, did you go with the JDM Double Din Kit? I'm fairly new to car audio and also interested in what a Processor really does?

i do have the jdm double din set up, i ran a processor to the oem unit prior though. actually ran through three different processors including the audison i have now. i tried the rockford 360.2 and an alpine h650 both were garbage.

id you stick oem i suggest the audison bitone, it's not cheap by any standard... i gave 650 for that alone, and i know audison has taken price hikes. i believe i heard the bitone is now up to about 800 bucks. what it does is amazing though, it'll take the signal (rca or speaker line) clean it up, then let you do anything your heart desires. each speaker gets a 32 band eq, you can choose cross over sets (single or dual meaning just high, just low, or high and low points to cut off), along with db slopes for those cross over points (kinda like how it fades into the cut), gives you a ton of rca outs, optical in and optical out (mostly build for the audison high end amps) also gives you the ability to save 4 different tunes for your system. since no two music types are quite the same you can change for the different types of music you're listening to. you also have sub gain control, fade, balance... and true volume control... all from a nice little wired remote control. if you truely want your system to come alive... it is the key.

Thanks for the info man. That last part you say about not all music is the same has really gotten my attention when listening to music, I always have to change my EQ settings on a reg setup or else the sound can be bad. Hopefully I can save up some cash and order my JDM Double Din soon. The factory sound on our cars is not that quite impressive. I have a question for ya though, would this amp work on our factory HU?

I ask because I really would like some bump while I save up enough for a full double din install
