I have my 97 POS and 98LGT. I sold the 01LGT to my roommate this summer.

STi rods will work because I am putting a phase II crank and doing a thrust conversion. I can get aftermarket parts on a machine shop discount, OEM parts are at dealer cost. I will have to see what is cheapest, since reliability seems to not be a factor.

The block is at the machine shop getting #5 thrust conversion!!

I ordered my crank and I should hear back for JE on the pistons next week.

Anyone have experience running a long rod motor? I am kinda thinking about it...

Yep, Long rod EJ22T lol

I have the heads all cleaned and ready to PnP, just waiting on aluminum burr bits.

Ordered LW crank pulley, LW Flywheel, BC springs and retainers, Supertech valves, scat rod and wiseco pistons. Should all be here next week sometime.

I also finished my PnP, I will try to get pictures today.

Looks like this is where my engine build will sit until I am home next time. I plan to pull the car apart now and get the wiring and suspension stuff started.

Yes it lost a piston at 6k rpm and left a nice mark in cylinder 4. I got the block for free and my machine shop wants to sleeve it for the experience, so it will only cost me parts when all said and done. I do not know of anyone that has sleeved an EJ22T, so it will be an experiment kinda lol.

There is a guy on igotasubaru.com, rek888v2 who built an EJ22T with "Darton Sleeves, CP 9:1 Compression Pistrons, Pauter 2.5 RS rods, 08 STi crank achined to thrust position 5, ACL main anbd rd berings, STi heads, Crower Stage 2 cams and Springs, and Manley valves and retainers." He also told me he'd sell it for $2500. That's too much for me right now.

Just sent money on a set of GSC S2 cams.

I cannot wait for a loopy boxer rumble!

Now I need to find a turbo to suit this build. Think of an 18g and running around 18-22psi.

Update:

last week I was able to go home for the week, and made a little progress. We were able to get the heads cut for +1mm valves and decked. The torque plate showed up the day I left so the bore and hone should be done this week sometime. I don't have any pictures, I was too busy trying to get this thing together.
