I've used, to noticeable effect, either Lucas "off-road formula" or the NOS brand "off-road/race" formula. The former I stumbled upon, and the latter is the choice of may tuners/tuning-houses, including PDXTuning. The other ones don't really do much, but you want to avoid using these things too often as the MMT will screw up the O2 sensors, over time. Mixed with a tank of 93, these will bump things up to 95 or so. Enough to diagnose any "skunked gas" issues or slightly over-aggressive mapping. The only time I use it is when I get a tank of bad gas - that, and on long road-trips, I'll carry a bottle or two, just in case I fill up somewhere that doesn't have 93. (octane * gallons) + (114 * gallons of toluene) ---------------------------------------------- gallons that will give you your final octane. if i do a half tank of 93 and put in a gallon of toluene that will give me 95 octane apparently. i dunno..... is running like 100 octane horrible for a turbo car? i know if you are tuned for it, but just a stocker? not sure. bms231 Posted May 5, 2008 Share Posted May 5, 2008 yea man. i was on a 1/4 tank. still am. figured i would try marathon b/c it is on my way home. no 89/93. then went to sunoco and the place was a hole in the ground. if u cant maintain your black top and your pumps are rusted.... chances are your tanks have holes and there is water in your gas. so i passed up on them. it is getting harder to get good gas. hence my toluene attempts. i am on call this week, but next week i am going to give it a try. just gotta figure out how to get it in the tank.
