I posted my rom on the RR forums and it looks like a new definition is required for our cars. I'm not sure if its the transmission, or because my car is USDM that a new one is required, but it will be made nonetheless!

It's too bad you need a ROM definition of your own, but they'll get it done over at ROMRAIDERS, good guys over there!

I got playing with this again last night, and it worked with no issues! No idea what changed, but I didn't have any of the problems I was having last time! I had to rename the ROM files with a .bin at the end, but other wise it went well. Got some datalogs and sent them off to the tuner for tweaking.

Biggest difference I felt was the throttle response, obviously more linear and less bottom heavy. I'm pretty tired, so let me try the car out for a bit and I'll see if I can tell the difference otherwise. I did a few WOT pulls and it felt smoother up top, but hard to tell without repeated testing, lol. Unfortunately that doesn't make up any part of my commute, lol.

A definition has been posted for the USDM 2005 2.5i MT/AT!

Let the tuning begin!

That was fast! Are you going to be tuning yourself?

After spending some time driving on the 1st revision of my tune, it is definitely stronger and smoother in the higher RPM's, but that's the biggest difference for me so far. Waiting on my 2nd revision now. Gotta get this done before snow flies, knock counts will be totally different when there's any slip added to the equation.

Ian did you get a tune form infamous?

Also burnout, I guess once you hear back from infamous, you should make a post in the NA section, because I wouldn't be surprised if theres a lot of NAs who would want a tune. If anything just to fix the DBW unresponsiveness. I know I happened to check this thread by accident, not sure if anyone else would check the tuning section.

-sigh- I'm still waiting patiently for my cable to come in.

Nope, I'm getting tuned by Ron and Mikey at Phat Botti Tuning, came across a thread on NASIOC by chance, and jumped in. Didn't really look at any other tuners before making the plunge, hope that wasn't a mistake on my part, lol. So far the delays have been on my end, and in getting the ROM defined so I could get started.

I still have no idea how to read the logs, but I have a few questions and a few tips to try out:

-what operating system are you using? You have to install the driver in administrator status for certian versions of windows)

-what driver did you use for the cable?

-have you changed the baud rate for the cable to 4800 to match your ecu's output?

How I got it to work was:

-plug cable into car and laptop

-turn on ignition to accesory mode, or start car

-turn on laptop, make sure VAGCOM cable is plugged into the same port as when I installed the drivers

-start ROMRAIDER software, make sure it's set to the correct COM port (you can find this info in the hardware properties in the device manager screen)

Hopefully this helps some.

[00:20:11.281] ROM metadata models 2005Legacy25i-E2ZJ173B_v1.xml is invalid.

First of all, you put the RR def into ECUFlash. Take that file out. You should point ECUFlash to use "E2ZJ101B.xml," the one posted on IanB's RomRaider thread.

Here's that: http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=6565

You may need to use ECUFlash 1.30 or 1.31. Try 1.30 first and see how it goes.

Phatbotti tuning has a GB starting in their thread at NASIOC for $100 a tune... I might jump on that...

I think infamous1 does 6 or 7 retunes for free, as long as the parts don't change. If you add mods, I'm assuming he'll charge a fee. Not sure if that fee is listed though.

Only reason I'm kinda leaning towards phat tune is that he's already tuned a whole bunch of NAs, so maybe he knows more about tuning NAs? I have no idea, but I would think it would make a small difference..

Let us know :)

I love this cable. I was fiddling around with my rev limit and idle speed just to have something to do. Raised my limit to 6400 (Don't bother, the power levels out and there's no reason for the increase) and smiled because the reflash actually worked :p

I basically need someone to ride shotgun when I try out a new revision, if my knock counts are out of control I need to know then and there, and it's just not safe to watch the laptop and drive at the same time. I prefer that someone to be someone I trust with this kind of thing, lol. That means it will be Thursday night before I'll get a chance to try it out, but I'll update once I have.
